Unfortunately I am one of those barely functional autistics. I have issues driving. I can drive myself to and from work and even on the highway sometimes. However, when it comes to doing something like going out on dates and picking the woman up or driving with passengers etc, I can't do it. I am so afraid of looking / doing something weird while driving. I always park wherever the parking is the most easy and not convenient. So I will almost never park in front of the store entrance etc but instead at the other end of the parking lot where no other cars are. I imagine that a woman would think the man is a bitch for doing something like that. I also have issues driving at night. I don't feel blind or anything its just my mind can't discern things as easily at night even with headlights on etc. I also hate F-150's driving behind me at night. Anyway, What can I do to improve? I never try to date because I don't want the woman to see how shit of a driver I am but I have had my license for years now(I am 31 and got my license when I was 27) and I am still ass.
>>28740355A lot of people park in "comfortable places" (ib4). If you think it's an issue, literally the only thing you can do is practice.Go to an empty parking lot and parallel park for fucking hours. Then do it on not busy streets, not during peak hour, and in spots with a car only on one side. Then sports that are actually right, again, not during peak. This is something a LOT of people don't feel comfortable with, but it's also a skill. Also, there is a chance you will bump your car doing this.> I never try to date because I don't want the woman to see how shit of a driver I am but I have had my license for years now(I am 31 and got my license when I was 27) and I am still ass.Own it. Park in paid parking / far away / go early unless you want to do the above. The reality is that there are better uses of your time.
Practice driving more beyond your usual routine, put yourself in those uncomfortable situationsPractice on the highway, practice driving at night, if you want to feel more comfortable parking in front of the store then do that. It might feel weird at first, who cares. Don't worry about how you look. Many people on the roads can't drive for shit (in my country, most can't). Don't worry about driving 'cool', learn to drive safe first. With passengers, even if you are a competent driver, the wrong passengers can make driving a pain in the ass. My mother was an overly-cautious driver, consistently the slowest driver on the road herself, who didn't understand road rules and freaked out and overreacted. My father was a good driver but lost his licence to DUI, seemed jealous that I could drive and he couldn't anymore, and tried to dictate how I drove from the passenger seat. So consider who you are about to give a ride to and why, before you agree to drive them.
>>28740355Like with anything, the more you do it, the better you get. There is a book I read and it put the hour mark to be deemed an expert at any skill/job/etc at 10,000 hours. For me, I worked as a delivery driver delivering parcels for 4 years. 6 days a week, 10-12 hour days. I wasn't the best driver at the start, but by the time I moved on to a different job, I could reverse that Sprinter van at full speed through an obstacle course.
