is it possible to turn black/gray wheels that came like that stock from the factory into polished metal chrome wheels?
yes but it is nearly cost prohibitive. $300+ per wheel. You could also powdercoat it but it's not UV stable and will change color.
>>28956925You would need to strip, prep, clean, and chrome the wheels. And the chroming process is more expensive than all the others. And you'll probably buy hexavalent and kill half your city block when it spills and burns.
>>28956926damn why so expensive? wouldnt just polishing them turn them into bare steel?
>>28956931the proper way to do it is electroplating. Electroplating uses very hazardous chemicals where the byproducts (rinses, sludges, etc) is VERY expensive to treat and dispose of. And if you do it the niggerish way and just drain it down the sewer, they WILL come after your ass because it is nasty stuff and your workers probably will get cancer if you're being retarded enough to just drain it then your working conditions are probably bad as well. The cheap way is "chrome" paint. The slightly better way a better kit which is still pretty much spray paint but with an activator and a sealant that may last a couple of years.
>>28956931Polishing something that size in a way that comes out consistent and clean with all the shiny parts shiny and all the sharp edges retained and all the not shiny parts intact is a highly skilled artisan skill and nobody wants to pay that kind of money unless it's a household decorative object (artwork)You have to remember that everything that can make a part shiny can much more easily make it scratched or scuffed, this all has to be done freehand, and one false move and a lot of work goes down the drain
>>28956931do you mean polishing a powder coated wheel back to it's base metal (probably aluminum) or turning a wheel to chrome...which still involves stripping the top layer and then applying chrome. Cause polished aluminum can still look nice, but it's not chrome.
>>28956925Yes, strip the paint and get them polished. I don't recommend chrome alloys as the chrome often flakes off.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIdc2YhkG5o
>>28957520Better quality aluminum gives better results.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JWASVyGbYk
>>28956931Those kind of rims are aluminum and you'd have to get them anodized/ clear powder coated afterwards to stop them from oxidizing and it wouldn't stick to polished aluminum.
