I don't drive alot so I go a while before changing oil.Went to Wal-Mart, bought oil, but the filters section was so small, it used to take up so many shelves, now hardly anything. Fram was there, but much was out a stock.Wanted to check the filter I needed, go to fram.com, and the sites gone? And after a bit of searching, come to find its outta business and the owner stole a bunch of money. Wow, I did not see that coming. I've been buying Fram oil filters for 20 years.I'm in Canada, that's all I ever saw at Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire, and Parts Source. Fram. What are people using now? I really liked that Fram had that sure grip rough surface stuff, any other oil files have it?
>>28957392Holy shit its realHahahahahahahahahaha
Probably depends on what you drive. OEM for me would be little black Tokyo Roki filters, but I got a case of WIX filters off fleetfilter that are perfectly fine. Pour one out for Fram I guess.
>>28957392Yeah FRAM and anything under that umbrella company is unfortunately dead, I feel bad for anyone who has a stoptech brake system on their car and what those people are gonna do for parts in the future.
>>28957392>I really liked that Fram had that sure grip rough surface stuffSame, I've got an XG on multiple of my shitboxes right now. Even the BITOG autists seem to like them now as they're of higher/decent quality while most other brands, store-bought cheaper ones in particular have gone to shit, so that's unfortunate to see.
>>28957428FRAM filters were kinda based, people hated them for having a filter media held together with cardboard, but there's no normal oil interval that would make it fall apart, and the filter media was way bigger than everybody else, thankfully the Honda FRAM filters from the dealer are made by Honeywell so I can still get them.
>>28957392>the owner stole a bunch of moneyhow do you steal your own money lmao
>>28957442It was basically credit fraud, the guy was basically borrowing against company assets that didn't exist, or were grossly overvalued, let's say I gotta 200,000 mile car worth $1,000, and then I run to the title loan place and misrepresent it is a much lower mileage car and they loan me like $5,000 when in reality I've got a $1,000 car.
>>28957392good riddance, their oil filters have always been mega ass. Cardboard end-caps when other manufacturers have had more solid filter construction for a similar price.>muh outer grip rough surfacePurolator have their entire outer canister coated like that and have far superior filters.
Private equity strikes again
>>28957487That filter media big tho
>>28957491Close, but no cigar.Wild that this dude stole billions. What do you even do with that much money?
>>28957392The Bangladeshi scammers bankrupted FRAM mang.Idk if anyone will buy they out or what.It sucks because their racing filters were very good
>>28957392I never used FRAM, I was always used K&N for my bikes, and Mobile1 for my cars or Bosch. I just remember the commercials back in the day, where the husband would slap his wife’s ass and leave an oil hand print.
OP here.If this stuff happened with Fram back late last year, why haven't stores found another supplier? As I said, the Wal-Mart I went to had little shelf space for oil filters and it was just old stock Fram. Why haven't they found a new supplier? Like Wix?It's like you can buy the oil but you basically have to go elsewhere for the filter.
>>28957516>The Bangladeshi scammers bankrupted FRAMGradually, I began to hate them
>>28957885Wait'll you unlock the perk of instantly hating demographics, people, and nations. I heard their wire backed high performance filters were a return to traditional (good) oil filters, but because of their reputation its basically too little too late?
>>28957487If you think every filter they sell is constructed the same way, you're not as smart as you think. Fram had a lot of good filters for a good price. I've got like five of those ready to go for my Harley and I'm happy about that.Guess it's back to Wix/Napa Gold and OEM.
