This community in general is full of genuinely low IQ retards that it makes me amazed that they are able to operate something as complex as an internal combustion engine
>make thread about a problem on my motorcycle on a popular forum expecting useful insight from experienced mechanics
>lay down everything I’ve troubleshooted previously in detail and the results
>replies come in
>all of them are "UUHM HAVE YOU TRIED TO DO #thingIExplicitlyMentionedInTheOPThatIveAlreadyDone??? DO THAT AND COME BACK WITH THE RESULTS"
>kindly inform them yes, I have and it’s written in the OP, repeating the findings
>"UUUH OKAY THEN YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT X"
>okay, X requires a bit of work and tearing off gaskets which are not too easy to get in my country for my bike, but finally it’s something useful for once
>look up online video on how to do X
>find out in the video that X is completely irrelevant to my bike’s issues
>internalscreaming.webm

This is just a generalized recent example, but I’ve realized that every single issue I’ve had was never resolved by consulting with retards online.

You aren't alone. Try not to be rage baited by the chuds. They are genuinely stupid and are suckers.
>>
>>28951646
>>
Have you tried consulting with non-retards?
>>
It is worse with small engines
>Hurr why is my thing not working
>Only posts a video on it cranking. No other information
90% of the time it is valve adjustment. But I guess all the clacking beforehand wasn't obvious enough.
>>
Not your personal mechanic.
This board doesn't take much seriously, be glad you got any good faith replies at all. Sometimes someone who knows the answer with experience comes by and helps, sometimes not.
We aren't here to fix your shit.
>>
>>28957513
never come to /o/ with the expectation of intelligent conversation.
If it happens, it happens.
>>
>>28957577
Then leave if you dont want to be helpful
>>
>>28957513
ive noticed this just happens with most things. most obscure problems simply dont have a documented solution so you will get people who think that their solution to a different problem will work for you, or people who just assume you did it wrong and tell you to do it again, and thats if you get a reply at all
>>
>>28957601
People come here to bullshit and occasionally talk shop.
We aren't paid for this, we have no obligation to help you.
For the record, I've helped many, many people on this board. I've gone out of my way to do so. I've spent hours researching shit just for anons online, I've done math for them to calculate fluids. But, if you have an attitude where you think you *deserve* an answer, I probably won't help you.
There have been many cars, many bikes, and many engines. Sometimes things get specific, not everyone knows everything about every engine and vehicle ever made.

Nice Rube Goldberg machine

>Cell 3159 in my secondary bank is overvolting, the cooling system seems alright, wat do /o/?
>>
>>28957513
>every single issue I’ve had was never resolved by consulting with retards
you've only just realised this now?
>>
>>28957577
nice reading comprehension
>>
Every time I look up how to do something on my car I find guides that are totally filled with assumed knowledge that I don't have but are apparently too obvious to explain. They'll explain obvious shit but then say "remove dipstick" as if I know how and where the thing is bolted on.
>>
Helpful information only comes in the form of decades old forum posts. I cannot explain why.
>>
Have you tried reading the manual?
>>
>>28957727
Oh yeah? How do you interpret OP?
To me it seems like he doesn't know shit and expects this board to fix his car for him, them he gets mad and wonders why people on a car forum aren't there to fix his car for free. He cannot understand why we don't exist solely to solve his problems.
Am I reading that wrong?
>>
>>28957737
Yea he wasn't referring to 4chan retard.
Even if he was your opinion is retarded.
>>
>>28957513
For me, it's the other way around. Somebody will post up a problem with a vehicle that I'm familiar with and what they're experiencing is a match for a pattern problem with the vehicle and I ask for some basic info to confirm.

>waahh! no-crank, no-start
OK anon, what's battery voltage? Or did you at least try to jump start?
>Those are fine! The whole car is fine! Better than yours! It just won't start. Tell me what's wrong!
This is where I've learned to nope out but such exchanges used to end up with the OP whining about not getting help. Then later I'd find a post on another subject where the OP got out of the situation by jump starting the car or some shit like that.
>>
>>28957738
>Retard
>Retard
Okay, bud. Are you going to fix his bike for free?
>>
Modern cars just make people dumb. I was stressed all day because my check engine light was on just because I didn't put my gas cap on tight enough. Modern cars are a fucking pain in the ass.

>I was stressed all day because my check engine light was on just because I didn't put my gas cap on tight enough. Modern cars are a fucking pain in the ass.
That has been a thing since the mid 90s.
>>
>>28957761
Didn't happen with my 2003 Camry
>>
>>28957766
Have you driven with the gas cap removed? It's pretty basic for OBD-II (1996+). I've seen it in a mkiii jetta,
>>
>>28957767
Newer cars just tend to sperg out if the cap isn't a complete seal is all. Just one little hint of it not being completely sealed can even turn off your AWD if you have it

People used to invest in the internet and communities because even though it was a devotion of time and effort, it would increase the knowledgebase of that community and help move the hobby and userbase forwards through discussing and dissecting different issues.

So even though it was an investment it wasn't a net negative because eventually you may be on the receiving end of some wisdom through having helped engender this kind of a community spirit.

The internet is now open to billions of the masses which along with social media neutering the concept of independent self-hosted communities now means that it's a HUGE net negative for any of those sage types to invest endless hours like they once might have. Essentially the people who made the internet worthwhile have now for the most part fully withdrawn and so unfortunately AI is now actually the best strategy for extracting any kind of (legacy) information from the internet, not communities, and the rest of the internet is now just one big advertising mechanism.
>>
>>28957513
That's just forums in general though. No one reads, and everyone assumes the other person is as stupid as they are.
>>
>>28957780
Yea its beyond over
>>
>>28957737
He was highlighting how people trying to help actually have dogshit reading comprehension, which really shows in your post
>>
>>28957513
>as complex as ice
>>
>>28957740
If I didn't want to I just wouldn't reply to the thread. Retard.
>>
>>28957513
nobody "operates an internal combustion engine". they push the pedal and car go forward. its magic.
>>
>Can't do it himself
>Can't Google for shit
>Doesn't get the answer he wants online
>Calls everyone retarded for not existing solely to do his work for him
You got the dud.
>>
>>28957780
Very well put
>>
When you ask something specific on a general forum (as opposed to a car specific board), people probably won't know the exact answer.
Yes, we car geeks know what to Google, where to look, and know what we're looking at. But we come here to chill out and bullshit while drinking, this is one of the least moderated boards remaining.
At the end of the day, the information is out there and easily accessible, when I help anons about car- or brand-specific stuff, it's mostly just using Google, you have to know how to ask it for things.
>>
>>28957513
>too stupid to troubleshoot his own shit and reach logical conclusions about causes of problems
>expects someone on the other side of a computer to do it for him
>is surprised when he gets "well I'm on the other side of a computer and can't see your shit but maybe try X" answers
>calls THEM low IQ

Yeah sorry buddy but it doesn't sound like they're the stupid ones in this story.
