Are wilwood brakes any good?
I keep getting brake fade driving on local mountain roads.
I tried race pads, but they still ran too hot and destroyed my rotors.(DTC60s)
People have told me I need a fully floating brake rotor with a proper high vane disk.

I like mine
>>
Have you tried using your brakes less or using wheels with more airflow
>>
>>28979049
have you tried engine braking you fucking dimit?
>>
>>28979049
Not assuming you are dumb, but are you running TYP200 brake fluid or at least fresh brake fluid? Are you sure none of your calipers are sticking? First things to check.

As far as Wilwood, yea, they will be better than whatever is stock on most sporty cars under 40k. I wouldn't spend that much, but since you have a clear use case apparently, it might make sense.
>>
I got a set of Wildwoods on my 4runner TRD pkg they kick ass
>>

Brakes are cheaper then engins. I just put it in neutral and use the brakes
>>
yeah wildwoods are good. might want to see what you can do about brake cooling. i'd start with a higher temp brake fluid first.

smart

There’s nothing harmful to the engine about engine braking. Just don’t downshift super hard while dumping the clutch and stay in the normal rev range. Why would it be harmful? It’s still oiled, and engines require more fuel to keep idled than to engine brake.

>engine braking
That's not gonna stop you at 1.2 G-force anon.

>>28979220
Using Xp600 fluid.
Pedal still hard, so no boiling fluid.

High RPM and low throttle is bad for engines.

>High RPM and low throttle is bad for engines
I largely disagree. I’m not the guy who recommended it, but I don’t think it’s bad for the engine.
I’m not sure what to recommend that hasn’t been said already.

High RPM and low load put a ton of stress on connecting rods an piston wrist pins.
There's no reason to engine brake when we have good brakes these days.
>>
>>28979525
Bro why are you engine braking at redline you know your gearbox has more than one gear for situations like these right?
>>
>>28979525
>High RPM and low load put a ton of stress on connecting rods a piston wrist pins.
I disagree. It’s an impulse change in forces that causes issues. An engine spinning freely without load is just fine.
Google the phrase I just greentexted that you wrote.

>High RPM and low throttle is bad for engines.
So don't downshift into a gear that puts you up at redline, 2-3k rpm will still give you plenty of engine braking. Even if you don't rely on it entirely, it still saves a ton of wear on your pads and rotors.

High RPM and low load puts opposing stress on engine parts.
It's not good for engines.

You can see drag race engines blow up once they start braking past the lights.
Low load, high RPM=stress
>>
>>28979566
Yes
Thats why you just slowly let go of the throttle and use the brakes when needed
Obviously don't downshift from 4th to 2nd for that 4k rpm engine braking
>>
>>28979566
Sorry I don't drive crap engines
