>>2805352I fucking HATE them.
>>2805352The cost of a camper is so far beyond the average millennial that they'll honestly never have an opinion on them. This board just can't afford it.This is like asking /ck/ what having a Michelin star is like.
>>2805365Not true at all. Many trailers nowadays are cheaper than the vehicle you tow it with. And rv park rent is much cheaper than apartment rent. Millennials just associate them with smelly boomer grandparents and prefer the romanticism of vanlifing. They will spend more than the cost of a basic trailer kitting out their van.
They’re great if you have young kids. It’s an excellent jumping off point to get them introduced to the outdoors. It offers a great, comfortable sanctuary for meals and sleeping. They’re also great if you’re doing other activities as your primary recreation, like mountain climbing, day hiking, trips to the beach, ATV’s, or whatever. >>2805354I fucking LOVE them.>>2805453Can you post some examples of these cheap trailers? Inb4 used. I know in the 1970’s a fully-featured pop up was the equivalent of $10k.
>>2805464depending on the size of the trailer it can be really cheapThe coleman 13b is a small 10k camper and can sleep 5 people in it
>>2805352They can't go anywhere interesting.
>>2805464Just searched travel trailers under 20k and all sorts of things popped up. And there's a wide variety of quality vs weight vs space options. You kinda have to be OK with very modern millenial grey interiors tho
>>2805365This. Ask me about a van or a window tinted SUV with removeable seats.
>>2805365Put the whole board on clutch
>>2805352I want to convert a van into a ghetto one
>>2805453Vans are better than RVs because they can actually go places. A good Van with clearance and 4x4 can go so many places an RV could never.
>>2805501agreed. I have a lifted chevy express and I camp in spots that take forever the crawl to and can be all alone for days. I have camped on beaches in mexico and not seen another person for 10 days
>>2805352They're sexy.
I got a used f150 and light weight camper, $13000 total. You can go anywhere and sleep for free. No hassle with a trailer. Solar when warm and generator when cold.
>>2805352As with all camping equipment it comes down to use case scenarios. Do you need a small mobile home because you change locations a lot? Do you want to go to things like concerts, sports games, fairs and theme parks and not pay for a hotel and unpack every time you have to end the day? Do you want to go on huge road trips with your buddies and let everyone travel in comfort? Those are all good reasons to use or own an RV or camper. It's a cabin on wheels.Do you want to "experience the great outdoors" without having to pitch a tent? Does the idea of driving a giant box attached to a van through the woods sound normal to you? Do you want to be that guy who rolls into a campsite with his land yacht so all the peasants in tents can look up at you while you pretend that you're camping? Then you might just be a big obnoxious douche who wants a big obnoxious toy.
>>2805352Burn them to the ground
>>2805365This. I don't concern myself with that shit.
>>2805352Not particularly interested, seems like a bigger hassle than just sleeping in a tent. Maybe when I'm old it'll seem like a good idea but for now I can just live out of my backpack and walk so no need.
I think they are neat.
>>2805365>millennialI think you mean zoomer. Millennials are like 40 now.
>>2808563I said what I said.
>>2805352hate the fact that they drive soooo fuuuuuuckiiiin slooooow all the timedont understand why they all gather up on the same boring spots every evening parked bumper to bumper and never even leave their vanthey got zero map reading skills and only follow main roads and rather park 20 vans at a bus stop overnight than driving 10min into the mountains and get a view (good thing for me since i do)i like the current trend of downsizing vans so they can fit in regular parking lots and they can literally camp downtown, eat and drink at their favourite restaurant then wobble 10m to the camper shitfaced and pass outi will be like that when i retire
>>2805352They're a retarded idea for old people. If you're still halfway fit, a rooftop tent is better for short trips, since you can fold it down and still have a normal car instead of an overly long piece of shit that handles like a truck. And if you're one of the few people doing long trips, a standard camper is going to be too small, and you'll probably want a full-size truck converted instead. Also, personally, I stick with a waterproof sleeping bag and a tarp. Either in a backpack or on a bike. But half the reason is that I like the reactions I get from normies, who somehow can't believe that you can actually survive without a tent.
I love them. Cant wait to take her out next month. Assuming i pass inspection...Find a quiet road in the middle of nowhere and spend 3-5 nights completely shut off.Has everything i need. 120liter water tank, Refrigerator and stove running on propane, 120w solar which has me somewhat self sufficient, hotspot with unlimited data.
This has been my home for the past 3 weeks. What can I say, not very comfortable but it does the job
>>2805352Unaffordable and a menace on the roads or highways.
>>2805352Sometimes you can get a fantastic deal on one that runs well and only needs a bit of work to make livable. But buying new is out of the question for a poorfag. And everybody overvalues their used RV until it sits there long enough to rot.
Fucking shitboxes and I advise you to shoot anyone who suggests you anything good about them.Either get a bus or a van and convert it, it will be far far far far more reliable and you will be able to take it anywhere. It will also cost far less than an RV.
>>2809377Also I want to add this comes from years of experience getting paid to fix people's RVs and repair them. It's like putting the cheapest shittiest cardboard box prefab on a flatbed and charging $100,000 for it. Just get a bluebird bus on auction for like $8,000 and remodel it.
My family went travelling with a camper trailer for 10 years or soI loved itSetting it up and attaching the front tent was always fun and I found it to be very comfortableVery cramped but when you're young it's just all the more magical for itWhen I turned 13 I got kicked out the primary bed and had to sleep in the tent outside but that was even better I have very fond memories of being caught in heavy rain and having to rush to set it up >>2805464Yeah thisFor my parents it was surfing and hiking although we only ever did day hikes
