>>2869241I often hike near a helicopter gunnery range. I’ve never once heard them using it. Maybe it’s decommissioned; I really don’t know. I’ve tried sneaking into it from two places that seemed likely from a map. Required bushwhacking maybe 100 yards from an established trail to an old FS road. Look simple enough on the map, but that 100 yards is a swamp filled with blowdowns from a tornado. It’s simply not feasible. The other option was down a series of Forest Service roads, which led me to the discovery of a red-cockaded woodpecker habitat (an excellent place to hide stolen goods, bodies, etc., lol). Unfortunately the mad didn’t show that this road meats the military border at a 30’ wide, 15’ deep man made canal with the bottom half filled with water. Technically I think that makes it a moat.
