im at 600+ Canadian dollar right now and I haven't even purchased a sleeping bag or pad or any foodI even cheaped out on some equipments by buying chinese tent but it just keep pilling on
>>2869348I hope you never actually go camping.
>>2869348Pack, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, boots and tent would be about AU$1600.
>>2869349I went car camping a lot but with familyI don't have of my own equipment so I had to start from ground zero
>>2869348well you don't want to cheap out on it, you'll get good usage out of it too for at least 8 years hopefully.2k ish I guess is fine, for me that's like a paycheck. ezpz
>>2869349He won't, he'll just keep throwing money at gear and making weird posts on here.
>>2869348i spend extremely little on camp gear because i dont get out often enough to justify expensive gear. also i dont need to punish myself being out in bad weather so I dont need great gear. my trek pole tent cost $40 new. it keeps the bugs out and fine for light rain. i dont need to carry a footprint or give a shit about how i fold it because its only $40 instead of $400.
>>2869348Gear is expensive, especially in cuckanada. Buy stuff on sale. MEC is everywhere, Sail is good too if you're in eastern Canada. Take advantage of discount codes they send. A good tent is minimum 300, I got a MEC sleeping pad on sale for $85 or so. Haven't had to buy a sleeping bag since I've inherited a number of them. A good bag is a couple hundred bucks as well but again buy on sale. If you're paying full price you're doing it wrong. In total I've probably spent, I don't know, 2K on a mix of backpacking and car camping gear.
>>2869348I spent about 1200 eur on my gear the first time. Mostly budget stuff but I went for a more expensive down sleeping bag. Also got a chink tent. Have not bought anything new since except for new hiking pants.
>>2869348I am probably at 2-3k+ by now thanks to upgrading to zenbivy sets (fucking expensive but fantastic, get them on sales + bundle discounts) for different temperatures and multiple hot tent/stove options.
>>2869348i spent $25 on walmart tent and got a sleeping bag from my parents for free. i bought a sauce pan for cooking at dollar general for $7. i pretty much had everything else i needed like cloths, knife, canned food, backpack, etc.
