What camera kit would you use to photograph an American civil war?
>>
>>4317135
Pentax K-1 and the 25-105 f/3.5-5.6
Complete weather sealed kit, reliable, good battery life, pretty good high iso performance, dual card slots for redundancy. Good focal range without needing to swap lenses.

Why do you ask? What do you know?

first kit that comes to mind is two or three x100vs. pile of batteries, hoods to keep dirt off the lens, not even sure if an external flash is worth the bother. idk much about warzones, but i imagine something small, simple, and redundant is good. don't care to be trying to switch lenses or load film most likely

X100s are not weather sealed in reality. Only “weather resistant” in marketing material. Ditto for any fuji. I see lots of “xt5 died in rain” posts but never “z6ii died in rain” even with people using lenses that arent really sealed like the 28mm f2.8

meant 12-40. More benefits
- weather sealed, metal body and lenses
- unlimited reach so I don't get shot
- not too heavy so I can carry everything I need on me
- make p seethe
A coolpix p1000 would also be a good choice. In a warzone I'd want reach

>>
>>4317135
Would a FE2 really be a good thing to be using in this situation? I'm sure the film and the developing chemicals would be ridiculously expensive.
>>
>>4317135
This is the only time micro four thirds has a use and i think most m43 users dream of scenarios like this

Those cameras are borderline disposable and if you sacrifice optical quality and artistic options they can get tiny.

I really want m43 to be good but i'm stuck with full frame because it simply isn't. If sony made an epl1 sized APS-C i'd be all over it.

Mirroring all my photos to SD so I can stick it up my ass if I get captured or questioned
Pushing the 800T one stop at night for sick halation, and shooting war crimes in medium format. The F5 and D850 are bomb proof. The 110 cams are basically disposable.

Using anything but a dedicated video camera is retard tier hence the canon.

Also reaching out to someone to make me hex mesh as a kill flash for the lenses so I don’t get brained by a sniper
>>4317958
I would say the FE/FM would be goat tier but I’ve cannibalized two of them already due to Ai ring issues and light sensors dying. They’re old and it wouldn’t trust them in a war zone.

Like in any other situation- what you have and what you're comfortable with. What, you're gonna suddenly swap out cameras and lenses because an Earth-shattering event happens?

For me, again, what I have. I'd use my 90d with the Tamron 100-400 lens and my T8i with the Sigma 17-70. That 30mm gap might be an issue, but that's what I have. I have a Canon 70-300 lens knocking around, but the Tamron is so much better, I'll deal with the gap.

NTA but None of those other bodies have stacked sensors or the other specs of the OM-1. That's the largest standard MFT kit you can get for the best performance and IQ. If you want compactness there are other bodies and lenses for it.
>>
>>4320535
The nice thing about le stacked sensor on the om-1 is the insane jello-shutter mode framerates dont keep up with the fuji tier autofocus at all so you can brag about the specs online but in real use unless you are shooting at f22 equivalent or shooting hummingbirds hovering in place you get 23 focus hits and 97 focus misses every second

That has not been my experience but I only use pro lenses like the 40-150 f/2.8. Cheap lenses like the 75-300 won't be as good. It's not Canon tier but it's quite good for wildlife and with some good technique it's fine. To be fair I almost never use the full 120fps though but it's fun to have in certain scenarios.

I had my Z6II through hell. It was in torrential rainfall, I dropped it multiple times into sand, just 2 days ago I was too dumb and accidentally released the lens and the body fell into sand with mount down. My IBIS is broken beyond 50mm (if I move to fast it just locks up). But the camera still performs. I love how well built it is.

My main camera is Panasonic point & shoot from 2008.
I have respect for people manual focusing, but at the same time there is a time and a place.
I actually do concede my point though, I just remembered Eddy van Wessel, a war photographer who uses almost exclusively Leica M cameras.
>>
>>4320924
Manual focusing is often much faster if you're familiar with hyper-focal distances of your lenses. Often in fast moving situations. I just set my lens to infinity focus and f/8. You can just snap away and just everything is acceptably sharp as long as it's more than 3 feet away from you. Hell, since sharpness really isn't that important, you could probably start at f/16 and work your way down.

I think film cameras are probably faster once you get to grips with the calculating stops and knowing your lenses. You could basically shoot without looking
>>
>>4320927
That definitely makes sense for daylight conditions, sunny 16 isn't complicated and would quickly become muscle memory.
Where I think the kit becomes impractical during the movie is when they're following a unit at night into a very fast moving scene with lots of changing lighting conditions.

in your head, because they all shit on fujifilm and street photography (and rightfully so) and your only comeback was to fantasize about the most disgusting form of rape.

the only actual dogfucker i have ever known used a canon 5div and a 24-105 he bought brand new and was an obnoxious gearfag about it. to absolutely no ones surprise after they jailed him they also found CP on his computer and a 6th grader came forward confessing that he molested them. and to no ones surprise he was my wife's weird uncle. totally bald, but hadn't had a haircut in years, and had a mustache. shocker.

>>4320920
>35mm
You barely have to focus with that, just set that bitch to f8
>>
>>4320977
I think I can explain /p/'s obsession with the "dogfucker" insult

A great number of full frame users and large format have dogs. It's almost a class based verbal assault, like medieval peasants calling noblemen atop their steeds horsefuckers. Dogs are expensive and time consuming pets that signal that someone is either totally unemployed and a child or stay at home mom watching the dog for their father, or gainfully employed with predictable hours and lots of paid time off.

Dogs (and toddlers, something that often comes with the dog) also require very good autofocus, fast lenses, and good high ISO performance to get good decisive-moment photos of them and because they're associated with wealth the people with them go ahead and buy a nice FF camera. This just adds to the seethe because poorfags see something they can not imagine: spending thousands of dollars to take photos of things with personal value. To a poorfag, their camera needs to get them money or it needs to get them exposure and hopefully a "career" on youtube shilling gear and collecting ad money. Using it for personal pleasure is unimaginable. All that money, for nothing! It could have paid their rent, goddamn it! These peoples brains would melt if they saw what the truly rich paid for bullshit like outerwear and camping gear. Totally financially secure people just "wasting" money on enjoying themselves. It's what a starving african feels when they see a white guy pay $2 for a candybar

It's a given that no one on that list fucks dogs.

They have, along with cANON!!5d, however:
Called GFX users money wasting fools overpaying for poorly built, slightly bigger full frame with slower lenses and worse bodies, and left them with very little room for a rebuttal (cANON and huskyfag)
Shit on fuji APS-C even harder, with sources showing its inferior quality and longevity (cANON and cinefag)
Shit on micro four thirds and called its defenders broke soibois with f12 zooms (Ambush and huskyfag)
Taking a fat steaming intellectual and philosophical dump on street photography from which it will never recover (cinefag and cANON)
Pointed out how all the semi-famous but weirdly bad and sometimes pedophillic photographers are jews or directly supported by them (cinefag, cANON, and ambush)
Expressed opinions that are anything but staunch support for the US backed regime in ukraine (cinefag, cANON, and ambush)
Taken better photos than most of the people they argue with (except for cANON)

TLDR: They are too based.

Yes. Hiro killed /p/. Filling out the new captcha extends the time required to post one single photo significantly more than the old captcha did. Then they changed captcha again so there's a 1 minute wait every time you clear the cookies that totally dont track you (but they do, it's how hiro makes money). On top of resizing or re-exporting for 4chan's file size limits, the shitty audience giving non-critique, caring more about what you've said about their favorite camera, or caring more about insulting your camera (add even more time and effort to strip exif), the number of people willing to actually post photos beyond the odd cat in /rpt/ has plummeted. Everyone just shifted to their socials and now they're using 4chan as a thought toilet where they post contrarian opinions to troll people into giving them shopping advice.
