I work with machines so it's very useful. I can just make the imaginary machine and take it apart step by step to figure out what tools i need to bring to the job. You probably have one sense that you're able to recall in a similar fashion that other people would find strange. Think about what's your strongest sense to imagine taste, touch, sound, smell etc.. you might be able to recreate one of those in more detail than most people.

Red rectangle would be easier for a computer to draw but my monkey brain prefers objects that have more connections, emotion and experiences. Is that what you mean with recognizing?
