The ancient Iranian peoples who emerged after the 1st millennium BC include the Alans, the Bactrians, the Dahae, the Khwarazmians, the Massagetae, the Medes, the Parthians, the Persians, the Sagartians, the Saka, the Sarmatians, the Scythians, the Sogdians, and likely the Cimmerians, among other Iranian-speaking peoples of West Asia, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Eastern Steppe.

Modern Iranian peoples include the Baloch, the Gilaks, the Kurds, the Lurs, the Mazanderanis, the Ossetians, the Pamiris, the Pashtuns, the Persians, the Tats, the Tajiks, the Talysh, the Wakhis, the Yaghnobis, and the Zazas. Their current distribution spreads across the Iranian Plateau – stretching from the Caucasus in the north to the Persian Gulf in the south and from eastern Anatolia in the west to western Xinjiang in the east – covering a region that is sometimes called Greater Iran, representing the extent of the Iranian-speaking peoples and the reach of their geopolitical and cultural influence.

Richard Nelson Frye defines Greater Iran as including "much of the Caucasus, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia, with cultural influences extending to China and western India."

According to him, "Iran means all lands and peoples where Iranian languages were and are spoken, and where in the past, multi-faceted Iranian cultures existed."

>Mahmoud Afshar

Iranian political scientist Mahmoud Afshar developed the Pan-Iranist ideology in the early 1920s in opposition to Pan-Turkism and Pan-Arabism, which were seen as potential threats to the territorial integrity of Iran. He also displayed a strong belief in the nationalist character of Iranian people throughout the country's long history.

On the eve of World War I, pan-Turkists focused on the Turkic-speaking lands of Iran, Caucasus and Central Asia. The ultimate purpose was to persuade these populations to secede from the larger political entities to which they belonged and join the new pan-Turkic homeland

It was the latter appeal to Iranian Azerbaijanis, which, contrary to Pan-Turkist intentions, caused a small group of Azerbaijani intellectuals to become the strongest advocates of the territorial integrity of Iran.

After the constitutional revolution in Iran, a romantic nationalism was adopted by Azerbaijani Democrats as a reaction to the pan-Turkist irredentist policies threatening Iran's territorial integrity. It was during this period that Iranism and linguistic homogenization policies were proposed as a defensive nature against all others.

Contrary to what one might expect, foremost among innovating this defensive nationalism were Iranian Azerbaijanis. They viewed that assuring the territorial integrity of the country was the first step in building a society based on law and a modern state.

>Ahmad Kasravi

Kasravi is known for his solid and controversial research work on the ancient Azari language. He showed that the ancient Azari language was an offshoot of Pahlavi language. Due to this discovery, he was granted membership of the London Royal Asiatic Society and American Academy.

Arguing that the ancient Azari language had been closely related to Persian language and the influx of Turkic words began only with the Seljuq invasion, Ahmad Kasravi believed that the true national language of Iranian Azerbaijan was Persian and therefore advocated the linguistic assimilation of Persian in Azarbaijan

In 1927-8 Ahmad Kasravi led the way in establishing the ancestry of the Safavids dynasty with the publication of three influential articles, and disputed the validity of the 'official' Safavid family tree contained in the Safvat al-Safa, and argued convincingly that the ancestors of Shaykh Safi al-Din, who founded the Safavid Order (tariqa), were indigenous inhabitants of Iran

Today, the consensus among Safavid historians is that the Safavid family hailed from Persian Kurdistan.

Irān-e Bozorg, lit.'Great Iran' was the name periodical published in the city of Rasht by the Armenian political activist Gregory Yeghikian . It advocated the unification of Iranian peoples (e.g., Afghans, Kurds, etc.) including the Armenians. Yaqikiān believed that, with education and the rising of the levels of people's awareness, such a goal was feasible through peaceful means.

It also published articles in support of the Kurds who had risen in rebellion in Turkey, which caused the protest of the Turkish counsel in Rasht and led to the banning of the paper by the order of the minister of court. Yaqikiān tried, without success, to have the ban removed and eventually moved to Tehran, where he published the paper Irān-e Konuni.

This is interview of a Harvard professor Dr. Richard Nelson Frye on CNN. Opening 40 seconds.

"Well I spent all my life working in Iran. And as you know I don't mean the Iran of today, I mean Greater Iran."

"The Iran which in the past extended all the way from China to the borders of Hungary and from Outer Mongolia to Mesopotamia."

"This is the area in which [Iranian]culture, craft, and everything was dominant. "

BEIRUT, November 29. /TASS/. The Syrian Army started a counteroffensive on the positions of the former Nusra Front (outlawed in Russia) terrorist group, which captured over 20 settlements north and west of Aleppo (360 km away from Damascus), Al Mayadeen reported.

According to the report, the government forces have already liberated the town of El Bakoum. Previously, military units from other parts of Syria were relocated to Aleppo. The M-5 highway connecting Damascus and Aleppo has been shut down due to the threat of terrorist raids.

During the attack on November 27, terrorists from the Nusra Front and allied groups approached dangerously close to Aleppo, taking positions 7-10 km away from the city. Numerous refugees started coming to Syria’s northern capital, which was liberated from militias in 2016.

The government forces were able to stop the enemy’s advance on several swathes of the frontline; the enemy lost several hundred militants in the fight.

Field military sources told the Al Watan newspaper on Thursday that the Syrian artillery carried out strikes at enemy supply lines near Aleppo and in the Idlib Province. The Syrian Air Force and drones attacked enemy positions in Bsartun, Al-Wasata, and on Qabtan al Jabal and Sheikh Aquil heights.

The only reason by far as for why Russia successfully invaded georgia and entered the capital was literally becausethe georgians were weak enough to fight quickly

Ummahbros, if Syrian opposition is so anti-zionist and they would supposedly attack Israel day after winning the civil war - then why they didn't even symbolically support Gaza in a military way? I am sure they have FPV drones that are able to fly long distances. Every guerilla nowadays have them. If Iraqi shia militias are able to fire drones towards Israel, then why didn't for example HTS try to do operation like this? All they can do is provide nice words and moral support, like the rest of the world. Just don't tell me that Assad is more important enemy lol

Back in WW1, italians thought it would be a good idea to fight the austrians through hills and valleys near the River of the isonzo 11 times, only to end up retreating back beyond veneto, as the austrians pushed them back there. and as far as i know there were at least 2 seperate occasions of syrian rebels fighting assad regime in aleppo.
Either way, you must be insane to try again and again to conquer a place while losing manpower.

You should be careful what you say. Turks are not called cockroaches for nothing: you can kill every Turk, but if you leave one alive, he will form a state and take revenge.
Before you hate Turks, you should thank them for ensuring that Jews were safe only in the Ottoman Empire during the persecution of Jews across Europe. It was the Ottomans who sold and partly gifted 5–10% of Israel to the Rothschild family, which served as a cornerstone for the founding of Israel.

Could be total bullshit, but a plausible motive.
Turkish peace proposal:
>Erdoğan’s plan reportedly calls for freezing hostilities along the current line of contact, the creation of a demilitarized zone in eastern Ukraine, and the deployment of international troops as “an additional guarantee.” As part of the proposal, Ukraine would agree to postpone discussions about NATO membership for at least a decade in exchange for additional military aid.

Oh, so basically what you're saying, is that turkey wants to federalise itself for the kurds? After all the years of conflict? It would be most logical conclusion of the entire relationship between kurds and turks.
>>
>>489885827
Unironically the only way turkey can avoid it's demographic problem is to give kurdistan autonomy within the turkish administration and then deport all the kurds to kurdistan
>>
>>489885949
It's a reasonable-sounding proposal if you haven't been paying close attention to the war. So it's somewhat clever.
>>
>>489886134
> they’re really trying to rush these wars before trump gets in
Yes, and the first war that would be rushed into submission ironically would be the one Palestine General covers. I don't believe that israel and palestine would fight too much until mid-december.
>>
>>489886125
>if what trump said is true with the US leaving NATO
Hans be for real. Trump has no desire to leave NATO, he just wants them all to do what Poland’s doing so that America doesn’t have to babysit them constantly.
>>
>>489886270
There is no demographic problem. The world will be Turk.
>>
>>489886116
erdogan wants to expand turkey into middle east russia is an open secret. after all they once ruled there until WWI
>>
>>489886215
pkk recently declared their own proposal:

federative structure should be formed in east, local parliament should be established. kurdish should be second language, ocalan should be free. pkk will be disbanded(pkk will fight for turkey)

Big larp

> Unironically the only way turkey can avoid it's demographic problem is to give kurdistan autonomy within the turkish administration and then deport all the kurds to kurdistan
Literally, that could make Turkiye take the first step for a new kind of federalized imperialism.

Up until now it's one of the better proposals for the end of a conflict, i hope this one would become real and would result in all kurds joining the rebels.

god takes priority over all and the turks are thus far uncommitted.

As far as i know, they already given up some of their demands, but it would be funny if that actually happens, because that would literally mean that all of this kidnapping was doing more harm for them than good.

Assad and the military elite prop themselves up by being a drug cartel producing captagon.

The Turks were retarded for doing this, no wonder that kurds go apeshit over election results back in your place.

That's going to cause big problems for erdogan if he doesn't find some way to reconciliate the turks and the kurds, potential civil war.

By the way, this isn't even a joke.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan proposed a revival of the Kurdistan Eyalet in 2013, claiming that Southeastern Anatolia was always referred to as Kurdistan before the 1923 establishment of the Republic of Turkey. His remarks referring to the provincial administration of the Ottoman Empire was criticised by many who interpreted them as signs of Erdoğan’s desire to implement a federal system. To challenge the Turkish nationalists, Erdogan recalled that during the Ottoman era there were eyalets called Kurdistan and Lazistan. He stated that autonomous self-governance within the state of Turkey should be possible and would even be a source of strength for Turkey.

Syrian rebels have also captured Mansoura town in the western outskirts of Aleppo and have officially shifted the front to New Halab neighborhood-Rashideen district in Aleppo city now.

they turkified albanians, caucasians successfully tho. they thought they could do same shit in poor, mountanious east. this was a mistake as we see rn. eastern anatolia was armenian majority region btw. kurds are real winners of "armenian genocide". turks created them kurdistan in east anatolia by killing christians there.

>>489886509
> turks are seething though. apo is devil for them. turks hate kurds you know. however, they are buckbroken people. i doubt they gonna protest if progress goes according to plan of erdo/pkk.
Yes, they hate the kurds for reasons that you most likely know, but it wouldn't change shit if this would progress according to plan, because if that happens that means the syrian government would eventually have a potential wide front with the rebels and kurds. But again, that all depends on how negotiations are going
>>
>>489886515
Well Hezbollah’s still licking their wounds and Iran’s spent after (literally) pounding sand, so their usual crutches aren’t gonna show this time. At least not before Aleppo becomes a battlefield.

Damn, now i see how serious he is about this.
>>
>>489886596
Wow very interesting so he has obviously thought of this before, it would be the right move for both him and the more moderate turkish nationalists, surely they could find some way to retain the republic while giving kurds autonomy even if in name only, just some beauracratic regional adminstration changes.
>>
>>489886643
yes. kurds dont trust turkey, rightfully. erdogan destroyed first peace progess in 2015 after he lost nationalist votes lol and HDP kurds joined anti erdogan coalition despite "progess" later on erdogan made an alliance with mhp(nationalists) declared war on pkk in east anatolia., syria, iraq. right now he consolidated all political power. it might go diff this time.

What are they gonna deploy, their rusty Phantoms? Israel fucking bombed buildings deep in their country and they didn’t do shit besides leave a few craters in the sand and seethe at Jordan for not being okay with missiles flying over their airspace.

Islam is where you establish the truth, whatever you think it is. Ataturk didn't really understand Islam, but he did realize that the authority of the ulama was a force for degeneracy, and that the umara used them to support their corruption. He also saw that European nations were better at jihad than so-called Muslim nations. Finally, he realized that cultural and religious unity is a must. Based on these facts, he did what he could to fix things.
Ultimately, he got more things right than wrong. Would I do the same things if I could go back in time? No. However, I can't blame him for doing those things either.
You can see the same problems now in the Gulf. How would you fix those problems?

Why would someone want to nuke a turkey? Or are you talking about Turkiye ? I know that education is a question of money in the land of the free, but use the internet to educate yourself to use the right terms. And let me tell you, Turkiye is the last country anyone would nuke because Turkiye is the only country with open ears for everyone.

He didn't know what shari'ah was. He only saw that the ulama were a bunch of spineless weasels, and that the umara were fat, corrupt, and lazy, and that the toxic relationship between the two enabled the downfall of the Ottoman Empire.
Now, he chose a very simple solution: adopt what works. He looked at Europe and did exactly that. A single language and a single religion for a nation set apart from all other nations. All of the ethnicities in Anatolia except the Kurds disappeared. Everyone became Turkish and Muslim.
Now, if he had preserved the previous system, how could he have prevented Turkiye from becoming corrupt? How could he have prevented it all falling apart, right after he put it back together?
