Neither translation implies fealty. Both communicate group membership. 'I'm yours' and 'I'm one of yours' in this context are functionally identical - claiming to belong to the Ukrainian side. The fealty distinction is completely fabricated.
You're inventing semantic differences to avoid the actual point: you used this phrase to false-flag as Ukrainian while your posting pattern contradicts it. The linguistics debate is derailment.

How do they rationalise this in Moscow? I mean the neverending grinding nature of this war. They obviously never intended for the war to last this long. We're a couple of months away from the duration of the invasion of Ukraine lasting longer than the entirety of the Second World War for the USSR. And Russia is likely to have only taken maybe 20% of Ukraine at that point and less than 13% since 2022.
I've seen anons here say that military leadership constantly lies to each other about their strengths and successes and this filters back up to monke. Alright but after 4 years of this, surely everyone knows everything to use a Russianism. It's all bullshit and everyone knows that. So why are they continuing? How do they justify it?

Is dying in Ukraine addictive?

Bond prices are down so yields go up.

In layman's terms it means that the government has to pay a lot more in interest to borrow money it needs to pay for war and everything else.

Do you have a source on that?

Source?

A source. I need a source.

Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion.

No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered.

You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.

Do you have a degree in that field?

A college degree? In that field?

Then your arguments are invalid.

No, it doesn't matter how close those data points are correlated. Correlation does not equal causation.

Correlation does not equal causation.

CORRELATION. DOES. NOT. EQUAL. CAUSATION.

You still haven't provided me a valid source yet.

Nope, still haven't.

By sending eastern mongoloids while keeping moscow and pidorsburg mostly untouched. Monke thinks it's a win as he can resettle those far eastern parts with moskovites instead.
There's one small issue though, those mongoloids are finite and the war is not stopping any time soon.

Former Head of FSB Anti-Corruption Unit in Novosibirsk Arrested for Bribery

The former head of a key anti-corruption unit within Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) in Novosibirsk has been arrested on charges of large-scale bribery, according to multiple media reports citing law enforcement sources.
Alexander Kolin, who previously led Department "M" of the regional FSB directorate, was detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center. Department "M" is tasked with counterintelligence and combating corruption within the country's security and law enforcement agencies.
The charges against Kolin are reportedly linked to a scheme involving a construction company, AlianStroy LLC, and the theft of 293 million rubles from the Novosibirsk city budget. Sources allege that Kolin received bribes in exchange for providing "general patronage" and influencing the opening or suppression of criminal cases at the regional Interior Ministry's investigative directorate.
The investigation is reportedly being handled by military counterintelligence. According to sources, Kolin is expected to be transferred to Barnaul, the administrative center of the neighboring Altai Krai. Before his dismissal, Kolin oversaw anti-corruption efforts concerning all regional law enforcement bodies.

Lithuania, Poland, US Hold Military Drills Near Belarus Border

Lithuania, Poland, and the United States have launched joint military exercises near Lithuania's border with Belarus, a move intended to enhance collective defense capabilities amid regional tensions. The "Strong Griffin 2025" exercises, which run from October 17 to October 31, involve over 2,500 soldiers and approximately 400 units of military equipment.
The drills are centered at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Ground in the Švenčionys district and are designed to train Lithuania's Žemaitija (Samogitia) Infantry Brigade in planning and executing defensive operations alongside allied forces.
The exercise is part of a larger, two-month series of drills in Lithuania codenamed "Thunder Strike," which involves a total of 17,000 Lithuanian and allied troops. This broader training initiative coincides with the large-scale "Zapad-2025" joint military exercises being conducted by neighboring Russia and Belarus.
As part of the allied maneuvers, other exercises are also taking place in the region, including the U.S.-led "Iron Fist," which involves American forces moving from Poland into the strategically important Suwałki Gap, a narrow land corridor between Belarus and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. The stated goal of the allied exercises is to improve interoperability and readiness for defense and deterrence operations.

Russia's Real Wage Growth Slows Sharply in August

The growth of real wages in Russia slowed significantly in August 2025, dropping to 3.8% year-on-year from 6.6% in July, according to data from the state statistics service Rosstat. The figure fell short of analyst expectations, which had forecast a 5.2% increase.
Real wages are calculated by adjusting nominal income for inflation, which stood at an annual rate of 8.13% as of late October. While the average nominal monthly salary rose by 12.2% compared to the previous year to 92,866 rubles, it represented a 6.5% decrease from the July figure of 99,305 rubles.
For the first eight months of 2025, real wage growth was 4.4%, a sharp decline from the 9.1% growth recorded in the same period in 2024.
The slowdown aligns with the Ministry of Economic Development's revised forecast, which anticipates real wage growth to fall to 3.4% for the full year, a significant drop from the 9.7% growth seen in 2024. The trend also reflects a broader cooling in the economy, as other indicators like retail trade turnover also showed weaker-than-expected growth in September

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Reconnected to Grid, but Fragility Remains

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in Ukraine was reconnected to the national power grid on October 23 after a month-long outage, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed. The restoration of the main 750-kilovolt (kV) "Dniprovska" power line ended the plant's tenth, and longest, complete loss of external power since the conflict began, forcing it to rely on emergency diesel generators for 30 days to cool its six shutdown reactors.
The reconnection was made possible after the IAEA negotiated and monitored a local ceasefire, allowing repair crews to work on the damaged infrastructure. IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi called it a "rare, good day for nuclear safety," but stressed that the overall situation remains "highly precarious."
While the main power line is now operational, repairs are still ongoing on the 330 kV "Ferrosplavnaya-1" backup line. Work on this second line has been complicated by the discovery of additional damage—two broken cables—found outside the established ceasefire zone. The IAEA is continuing to coordinate with both sides to allow for these further repairs.
"The next step is to complete the repairs of the Ferosplavna-1 power line and then to prevent future loss of power events,” Grossi stated, reiterating his call for compliance with the IAEA's five principles to prevent a nuclear accident. The plant has been under Russian control since early in the full-scale invasion, but is operated by Ukrainian staff and is located on an active frontline.

Russian Highway Project Leaves 600 km of Local Roads Damaged, Unfunded

The construction of Russia's new M-12 "Vostok" high-speed highway has damaged or destroyed over 600 kilometers of local and regional roads in the Nizhny Novgorod region, leaving a 12.8 billion ruble ($138 million) repair bill with no allocated funding, Russia's Audit Chamber has found.
In a report on state spending, auditors revealed that heavy truck traffic supplying the massive federal project had negated years of investment in the region's road network. The damage has caused the share of regional roads in a normative condition to fall from 41.4% to 33.4% in 2024. This decline effectively wiped out the positive results from 20.2 billion rubles spent on improving these same roads between 2019 and 2024, the report stated.
According to the Audit Chamber, the funds for the 12.8 billion ruble restoration are not included in the regional budget, nor in the budgets of the state-owned construction company Avtodor or the Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor).
Auditors noted that agreements to regulate the use of local roads were not put in place until February 2025, well into the construction process. While some subsequent agreements cover the repair of about 235 km of roads, the Audit Chamber found that no solution exists for the remaining 600.5 km. Even on the sections Avtodor has repaired, inspectors noted "defects in the pavement."
The state company Avtodor stated that it had restored 154 km of roads in the Nizhny Novgorod region as part of a larger 561 km restoration effort across several regions affected by the M-12 construction.
The Audit Chamber has recommended that the federal Ministry of Transport, along with Avtodor and the regional government, identify a source for the required funding by January 30, 2026.

Bulgarians on Trial in Paris for Vandalizing Shoah Memorial in Suspected Russian Plot

Three Bulgarian nationals went on trial in Paris on Wednesday, accused of defacing the city's main Holocaust memorial with red handprints in what prosecutors allege was a destabilization campaign ordered by Russia. A fourth suspect is being tried in absentia.
The men are accused of painting 35 red hand stencils on the "Wall of the Righteous" at the Shoah Memorial in May 2024. The wall honors the names of non-Jews who helped save Jews in France during World War II.
In court, the defendants claimed they were merely low-level operatives acting for money and were unaware of the significance of the site they were vandalizing. One of the accused, Georgi F., who has a swastika tattooed on his chest, said he was paid 1,000 euros for his participation and that his neo-Nazi affiliations were "in the past." The men identified the fourth suspect, who remains at large, as the leader of the operation.
The trial is the first in France to directly address a series of incidents that authorities link to Russian foreign interference. Prosecutors have connected the red hands to other acts, including Stars of David being painted on buildings in late 2023, as part of a broader strategy to sow division in France.
The men face charges of aggravated vandalism and criminal conspiracy, which carry a potential sentence of up to seven years in prison and a 75,000 euro fine.

Russian Blogger Proposes Fines for Women Who Falsely Claim Single Motherhood

A Russian journalist and activist has proposed imposing fines on women who deliberately omit a child's father from the birth certificate to qualify for state benefits as single mothers, labelling the practice fraudulent.
The initiative was launched by Anastasia Kashevarova, who highlighted a trend where women's attitudes change once the unlisted fathers are deployed to the "special military operation" zone in Ukraine. At that point, she said, many of these women file lawsuits to legally establish paternity, aiming to secure access to the significant state payments and benefits allocated to soldiers' families.
"Such mothers cannot claim any payments or benefits," Kashevarova wrote in her Telegram channel. "I would even call them 'social dependents' and 'fraudsters' because, for a relatively small gain, they deprive the child of a father and a proper legal status."
Kashevarova argued that this practice undermines both the institution of the family and the rights of the child. Alongside fines for "false sole parenthood," she proposed that any benefits awarded after paternity is established should be directed exclusively to the child. She also called for a legal change to grant men the right to add themselves to their child's birth certificate, preventing mothers from being the sole arbiters of the document. The proposal is currently a public initiative and has not been introduced as legislation.

U.S. VP Vance cites 'incredible progress' in Ukraine peace efforts

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said he has shifted from believing the war in Ukraine would "never end" to seeing "incredible progress" toward a potential peace settlement, he told the New York Post in an interview published Wednesday.
Vance stated that his perspective has changed significantly in recent months. "If you had asked me six months or so ago, I would have said, 'They're never going to stop fighting,'" Vance said. He added that he once thought the conflict could turn into "Russia's Vietnam" and continue for another 15 years.
However, he noted a recent shift in his assessment. "If you asked me a month ago, I would have said we're making incredible progress," the Vice President remarked.
The Vice President's comments come after a period of friction earlier in the year, including a tense exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House in February. Vance acknowledged the incident but stated the administration has since "turned the page" and is now focused on building productive relationships with both Kyiv and Moscow to end the conflict. He emphasized that he and President Donald Trump have "very good working relationships" with all parties involved.

British citizen detained in Kyiv, accused of spying for Russia

Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) announced Wednesday it has detained a citizen of the United Kingdom, a former military instructor, on suspicion of collaborating with Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB). The man is accused of gathering intelligence on Ukrainian military facilities and preparing for terrorist acts.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, arrived in Ukraine in early 2024 to work as an instructor for mobilised Ukrainian troops in the Mykolaiv region. According to the SBU, he quit several months later, moved to Odesa, and began using pro-Kremlin internet groups to offer his services to Russian intelligence agencies, seeking "easy earnings".
Ukrainian investigators allege that an FSB handler recruited the man and tasked him with providing information on other foreign instructors and the coordinates of military training centres in southern Ukraine. He was reportedly paid $6,000 for one such assignment.
The SBU's counterintelligence division monitored the suspect as he allegedly received instructions for making an improvised explosive device and retrieved a pistol with two loaded magazines from a secret cache. He was arrested at his temporary residence in Kyiv.
The man is now in custody and faces charges of unauthorised dissemination of information about the armed forces during a state of war. If convicted, he could face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Russia Ties UK in Billionaire Rankings as Wealth Growth Outpaces Britain's

Russia has drawn level with the United Kingdom in the global ranking for dollar billionaires, with both countries now sharing fourth place, according to a new report from wealth intelligence firm Altrata. The "Billionaire Census 2025" shows that despite sanctions, Russia’s billionaire population grew faster than Britain’s over the past year.
The number of Russian billionaires increased by 8.5% to 128 individuals, while the UK saw a 4.9% rise to reach the same number. However, the collective fortune of Russia's wealthiest stands at $457 billion, significantly higher than the $323 billion held by their British counterparts.
The United States continues to dominate the list with 1,135 billionaires, followed by China with 321 and Germany with 184. Globally, the billionaire population expanded by 5.6% to a record 3,508 people, with their total wealth surging 10.3% to $13.4 trillion.
In contrast to the growth seen elsewhere, the report noted a decline in the number of billionaires in other major economies. India’s count of the super-rich fell by 3.1%, while Brazil experienced a 3.6% decrease.

Russians wary of proposed VAT hike, fearing personal financial pain

A potential increase in Russia's value-added tax (VAT) is being met with significant public apprehension, as a majority of citizens anticipate a negative impact on both their personal finances and the country's economy, a recent poll by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) has found.
The survey, conducted between October 10-12, 2025, revealed that 61% of Russians expect a higher VAT rate to worsen their financial situation. Only 5% foresee a positive effect, while 19% believe it will make no difference. This concern reflects broader anxieties about rising prices, which Russia's central bank has noted as a key factor sustaining high inflation expectations.
When asked about the nationwide impact, 43% of respondents said a VAT increase would do more harm than good. In contrast, only 16% believe the policy would be beneficial, while 10% see the effects as mixed. The Russian Ministry of Finance has proposed raising the tax beginning in 2026, though the survey indicates that 55% of the public is still unaware of these plans.
Supporters of the tax hike primarily argue it is a necessary step to replenish the state budget. Some also believe it could ultimately raise living standards, stimulate economic development, or fund the "special military operation."
However, opponents—a much larger group—are predominantly worried about a decline in living standards and a surge in inflation. Their concerns also include potential damage to businesses, the inherent unpopularity of any tax increase, and the risk that the additional revenue "will not be spent for the good of the country and the population."

WhatsApp risks losing Russian trademark rights in December 2025

The popular messaging service WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms, could lose the rights to several of its trademarks in Russia as their registration period is set to expire in December 2025, according to a review of Rospatent's database by RIA Novosti.
The Russian legal entity, WhatsApp LLC ("BoтcAпп ЛЛК"), holds four trademarks with the country's intellectual property agency. These registrations, initially filed in 2015 and officially granted in 2017, are now approaching their renewal deadline.
Intellectual property experts note that if Meta fails to renew the trademarks on time, the company will be granted a six-month grace period to do so by paying an increased fee. However, failure to act within that additional timeframe would result in the complete loss of its trademark rights in the country.
The situation is complicated by the status of WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, which was designated an "extremist" organization and banned in Russia in 2022. The ban, however, did not specifically target the WhatsApp service itself.

Moscow governor calls for warning labels on wet wipes to prevent sewer blockages

The governor of the Moscow region has urged Russia's Ministry of Industry and Trade to introduce special labeling for wet wipes and moist toilet paper, warning that improper disposal is causing severe damage to a public utility system already under strain.
Andrei Vorobyov, the region's head, stated in a letter to the ministry that consumers are largely unaware that flushing such products, which are often made of non-dissolving synthetic fibers, leads to massive blockages. The resulting damage to infrastructure requires costly repairs and causes "systematic interruptions in the supply of communal resources," Vorobyov noted.
The scale of the problem is significant. According to data cited in the governor's letter, some local wastewater treatment plants in the Moscow region are forced to remove up to 20 metric tons of garbage daily, with personal hygiene products and food waste accounting for as much as 80% of the total volume. Specific incidents highlight the issue: in the city of Lyubertsy, accumulated waste damaged sewage collectors in both 2019 and 2025, while in Kashira, a blockage in March 2025 took six hours to clear.
Vorobyov's proposal aims to better inform consumers about correct disposal methods to reduce the financial and environmental burden on the region. The initiative has received tentative support from at least one major Russian manufacturer, which called the proposal "important and correct" but noted that even water-soluble materials can take a long time to break down and should not be flushed.

Russia to overhaul investment support scheme amid high interest rates

Russia’s Ministry of Economy has drafted a proposal to expand its "project finance factory," a key mechanism for supporting large-scale investment, in a bid to offset the impact of high central bank interest rates. The reforms aim to introduce more flexible terms for syndicated loans and subsidy calculations, while boosting incentives for using domestic technology.
A central element of the plan is a new incentive for projects that prioritize Russian-made equipment. Companies with a domestic equipment share of over 30% will be eligible for an additional 2-percentage-point reduction on their loan's interest rate. This move is designed to stimulate industrial localization and advance the Kremlin's "technological sovereignty" agenda.
Furthermore, the ministry intends to raise the financing ceiling for major technology-related projects to RUB 30 billion. The "project finance factory" program, which is curated by state development corporation VEB.RF, currently supports 42 projects valued at a total of RUB 6 trillion.
The proposed changes are intended to de-risk major investments as the country continues to grapple with a high key rate, making it more attractive for companies to launch new capital-intensive projects. The government hopes these measures will help sustain investment in critical sectors and encourage the development of domestic supply chains.

Russia to Boost Foreign Infrastructure Spending Thirteenfold to Drive Exports

Russia is set to increase its budget for building export-focused infrastructure abroad by 13 times over the next three years, allocating 10.5 billion rubles ($105 million) in 2028 as it seeks to secure new markets in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
The spending surge is part of a new federal project, "Creation of Foreign Infrastructure," designed to bolster non-commodity exports and shield the economy from external pressures. Funding will rise sharply from 837 million rubles in 2025 to 2 billion in 2026, before jumping to 10.5 billion in 2028. The initiative aims to develop industrial parks and logistics hubs in 26 key countries, with the long-term goal of increasing non-resource exports to $248 billion by 2030.
A cornerstone of this strategy is the establishment of a major Russian industrial zone in Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). Under a 49-year agreement signed in 2025, Russian companies operating in the zone near Ain Sokhna will receive significant tax and customs exemptions. The zone is expected to be operational by 2030 and will focus on industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, construction materials, and mechanical engineering.
In addition to the flagship project in Egypt, Moscow is also considering creating an industrial zone in Tajikistan and logistics hubs in Iran and the United Arab Emirates.

Russia to Ease Restrictions on Heavy Drones in Nearly 60 Regions

Russia is set to lift operational restrictions on large unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) weighing over 30 kg in nearly 60 regions. The move, which follows an instruction from Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev to the Ministry of Transport, will affect regions designated with a "basic readiness" security level, primarily those outside of southern and Central Russia.
Since 2022, Russia has operated under a four-tier system of security levels, which included broad restrictions on drone flights. While rules for light drones (under 30 kg) were relaxed in March 2024, the operation of heavier UAVs has remained hampered by complex registration and flight approval procedures that can take several months.
Experts note that these bureaucratic hurdles have led some businesses to operate heavy drones without proper authorization, risking fines. Penalties for violating airspace rules can be substantial, reaching up to 300,000 rubles for organizations.
The easing of regulations is expected to boost the civilian use of drones in sectors such as agriculture, construction, logistics, and resource exploration.

Russians Warned Over Halloween Costumes Amid Ban on "Satanism" Symbols

Russians celebrating Halloween are being warned that costumes and decorations featuring symbols associated with "Satanism," such as pentagrams, could result in fines or administrative arrest.
Lawyer Oleg Zernov stated that publicly displaying symbols of banned organizations is an offense under Russia's administrative code. This includes symbols linked to Satanism, which Russian authorities have classified as an extremist movement and banned.
Violators face potential fines of 1,000 to 2,000 rubles or detention for up to 15 days. While traditional Halloween imagery like pumpkins, bats, and ghosts is not illegal, the warning comes amid a broader cultural and political push against the holiday.
Some officials and public figures have called for restricting Halloween celebrations to protect "traditional values." Proposals have included fining businesses that use Halloween decorations and calls to equate the holiday with extremist propaganda.

Trump Claims Xi Will 'Work Together' on Ukraine Settlement

Donald Trump said on Thursday that he and Chinese President Xi Jinping had agreed to "work together" to seek a resolution to the war in Ukraine. The US president made the remarks to reporters aboard Air Force One after a meeting with his Chinese counterpart in Busan, South Korea.
"Ukraine came up very strongly. We talked about it for a long time," Trump stated, adding that Mr Xi is "going to help us."
Beijing has not officially commented on the specifics of the discussion regarding Ukraine following the meeting. In public statements, China has consistently called for a peaceful settlement while avoiding criticism of Russia, with whom it shares a "no-limits" strategic partnership. Mr Xi has previously stated that China would continue to promote peace talks, cautioning that "complex problems have no simple solutions."
The discussion occurred during a meeting that both leaders described as highly successful. Trump told reporters the talks rated a "12 out of 10" and covered a range of trade issues, including US tariffs and China's purchase of American agricultural products. The Chinese readout of the meeting noted that the two countries had "good prospects for cooperation" and had reached a "basic consensus on addressing our respective major concerns."

Trump Says US Discussing Denuclearization With Russia, Citing High Costs

President Donald Trump said Thursday that the United States is discussing denuclearization with Russia, part of a broader ambition to engage both Moscow and Beijing in trilateral arms control talks. "I would like to see denuclearization," Trump stated.
The president has repeatedly signaled his interest in a new agreement to limit nuclear arsenals, expressing hope that a deal could lead to dramatic cuts in defense spending for all three nations. "There's no reason for us to be building brand-new nuclear weapons," Trump said earlier this year, suggesting the military budgets of the U.S., Russia, and China could be cut in half.
The push comes at a critical time, as the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START)—the last remaining nuclear arms pact between Washington and Moscow—is set to expire in February 2026. Russia suspended its participation in the treaty during the previous administration.
During his first term, Trump's administration unsuccessfully attempted to bring China into nuclear reduction talks with Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has responded to Trump's recent calls for dialogue by stating, "there is something to talk about, we need to talk."

Russia Says It Downed 170 Drones; Ukraine Reports Massive Missile and Drone Barrage

Russia's Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that its air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed 170 Ukrainian drones over 16 regions overnight in one of the largest reported drone attacks to date.
The ministry provided a detailed breakdown, stating that 48 drones were downed over the Bryansk region, 21 over Voronezh, 16 over Nizhny Novgorod, and 14 over the Rostov region, with smaller numbers intercepted over a dozen other areas, including the Moscow region. Russian officials reported damage to some buildings and a mobile communication tower from falling debris in the Voronezh and Volgograd regions, but no casualties were mentioned. In response to the attack, Russia's aviation authority imposed temporary flight restrictions at 11 airports, including Moscow's Vnukovo and Domodedovo.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials reported that Russia had launched its own massive, coordinated air assault on Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces fired over 650 drones and more than 50 missiles of various types at targets across the country. The strikes targeted energy infrastructure in at least ten regions, causing significant damage. In the city of Zaporizhzhia, missile strikes hit residential buildings and a dormitory, killing two people and injuring dozens, including five children.

Russia to Cap University Admissions for Popular Majors to Curb "Diploma Mills"

The Russian government is set to impose limits on the number of fee-paying students in universities for 46 fields of study, including popular majors like economics, law, and management, starting in the 2026-27 academic year. The move, developed by the Ministry of Education and Science, is aimed at aligning higher education with labor market demands and improving academic quality.
Under the new regulations, the number of commercial spots for each program will be determined by a formula based on enrollment figures from the past two to three years. A critical new rule will prohibit universities from enrolling any fee-paying students into programs where the average Unified State Exam (EGE) score of the previous year's intake was below 50.
The policy targets what officials see as a surplus of graduates in certain fields and is designed to crack down on so-called "diploma mills"—institutions with low educational standards. In July, the Ministry of Education reported that 52% of all university students in Russia, or approximately 2.4 million people, are on a fee-paying basis. The list of affected majors is extensive, also covering psychology, architecture, and oil and gas studies.
While the move is expected to primarily impact universities with lower academic standards, top-tier institutions may see little change. Universities will have a five-day window to appeal the allocated quotas by providing evidence of their graduates' high demand in the job market or strong academic performance. Successful appeals could increase a program's quota by up to 15%.
"Regulating paid-for admissions will allow us to filter out weak applicants and improve the quality of education," said Alexander Mazhuga, first deputy chairman of the State Duma's committee on science and higher education.

Russian Food Prices Rise on Production Costs and Labor Shortages

Key food staples in Russia, including potatoes, vegetables, chicken, and buckwheat, saw prices climb this fall in a trend experts say is driven by more than just seasonal shifts. Surging production costs, higher energy prices, and persistent labor shortages are contributing to the increase.
The price hikes for some goods, such as eggs and buckwheat, also represent a market correction after a significant drop over the summer. Egg prices, for instance, had reached a three-year low and are now rebounding. The cost of buckwheat is rising after farmers reduced sowing areas by a third following a period of overproduction, though last year's stockpiles are helping to moderate the increase.
According to data from Rosstat, fresh tomatoes saw the most dramatic monthly increase, jumping 43.7% between September and October, while egg prices rose by 9.3%.
"The rise in prices is explained by objective factors—an increase in the cost of production as well as a deficit of workers," said Babken Ispiryan, deputy chairman of the "Narodny Fermer" (People's Farmer) association. He noted that while vegetable prices typically bottom out during the September harvest, costs associated with storage inevitably lead to price increases later in the fall.
To stabilize the market, experts suggest implementing long-term contracts between agricultural producers and retail chains, providing accessible loans for farmers, and potentially reducing import duties.

Russia's Economy Slows, but Household Incomes Continue to Rise

Russia's economy showed signs of cooling in the third quarter of 2025, with GDP growth slowing to an estimated 0.6% year-on-year, down from 1.1% in the second quarter. Despite this deceleration, household finances appear robust, according to the latest data from Rosstat, the state statistics service.
Real disposable incomes grew by a strong 8.5% year-on-year in the third quarter, continuing a trend of powerful growth seen throughout the year. This sustained increase in purchasing power has propped up private demand, which analysts suggest may continue to expand into the fourth quarter, even as the broader economy loses momentum. For the first nine months of the year, GDP grew by 1%.
The slowdown reflects weaker performance in sectors such as trade and mining. While the labor market is also showing initial signs of a potential cooldown, nominal wage growth remained high through the summer. This combination of slowing headline growth and rising personal incomes presents a complex picture for policymakers navigating the final months of the year.

Russian University R&D Spending Rises, But Share of National Total Falls

Russia's universities increased their internal spending on research and development to 194 billion rubles in 2024, a nominal rise of 8.4% from the previous year, according to an analysis by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge at HSE University.
Despite the growth in absolute terms, the higher education sector's contribution to Russia's total domestic R&D expenditure shrank, falling from 10.8% in 2023 to 10.3% in 2024. This occurred as the nation's total internal R&D spending reached a record 1.88 trillion rubles in 2024.
The Russian government remains the primary funding source for university research, accounting for 59.4% of expenditures in the sector. Business investments provided 27.4%, while universities' own funds covered 12.2%.
While Russia's overall R&D spending places it ninth globally, its university sector's 10.3% share is lower than the average for OECD (15.8%) and EU-27 (21.6%) countries, though comparable to figures in the US (10.7%), Japan (11.1%), and China (8.3%).

Russia's Food Industry Faces 2.5 Million Worker Shortage, Threatening Output

Russia's food industry is grappling with a systemic labor crisis, facing a shortfall of approximately 2.5 million workers, or nearly a third of its required workforce, according to a study by consulting firm "Start Kachestva." The deficit is accelerating, with job vacancies in the sector surging 56% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025.
The industry, which employs around 1.9 million people across more than 30,000 companies, is struggling to attract new talent. Experts point to low wages and a lack of prestige as primary deterrents for young people. The situation is exacerbated by fierce competition for workers from higher-paying sectors like logistics, retail, and the defense industry.
The shortages are acute across the board, from unskilled laborers like loaders and line operators—a deficit estimated at up to 250,000 people—to highly skilled engineers, mechanics, and technologists. This is particularly problematic as companies seek to modernize equipment, a task requiring trained specialists.
Educational institutions are failing to bridge the gap. Profiled universities and technical colleges graduate only 25,000 to 35,000 specialists annually, a figure described as "catastrophically insufficient." Compounding the problem, only 40% of these graduates enter the industry, with the rest opting for careers elsewhere. The demand is so high that there can be up to five employers competing for a single graduate.

Russia plans to strip 'foreign agents' abroad of consular rights and freeze assets

The Russian parliament is advancing a sweeping new set of restrictions targeting individuals designated as "foreign agents" who live outside the country, with proposals to block their access to essential consular services, freeze their assets, and halt their pensions.
The initiative, introduced by Andrei Lugovoy, a prominent MP from the nationalist LDPR party, would prohibit Russian consulates from renewing passports, issuing powers of attorney, or providing other notarial services to designated individuals. The measures would effectively require them to return to Russia for any significant legal or financial transaction, where, as Lugovoy noted, they could be met "at Sheremetyevo with handcuffs."
The proposed crackdown includes a complete ban on banking services and entrepreneurial activity within Russia for foreign agents. It would also annul previously issued licenses and permits and block any real estate or business transactions conducted remotely via power of attorney.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has thrown his full support behind the proposals, instructing parliamentary committees to draft the necessary amendments. Volodin argued that Russia's current laws are too "liberal" compared to those in the US and France. "People who betrayed their country, destroying it... receive a pension from Russia," he stated during a parliamentary session. "They should know: if they left, they lose everything here."
Lugovoy also suggested expanding the definition of high treason to include participation by foreign agents in conferences and forums abroad that are deemed to "undermine the international prestige of the Russian Federation."

Russia Considers Requiring Professional Degrees for Medical and Finance Bloggers

Russia is considering new regulations that would require bloggers and online influencers who give advice on medicine, finance, and law to hold a professional degree in their respective fields, a move aimed at combating misinformation and protecting consumers.
The proposal was put forward by the "Council of Bloggers," an industry movement, which suggested adopting a model similar to one recently implemented in China. Under the Chinese system, influencers discussing these specialized topics must verify their qualifications, and platforms face significant fines for hosting unverified content.
The initiative has gained traction among lawmakers and watchdog groups. Andrei Svinsov, deputy chairman of the State Duma's information policy committee, confirmed that legislation could be implemented within the next 12 to 18 months, stating there are an "enormous number of fraudsters" online.
Support for the measure has also come from Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the influential Safe Internet League, who cited cases of serious injury and even death resulting from unqualified online "coaches" promoting dubious medical treatments. Industry bodies like the Association of Bloggers and Agencies have also expressed support for verifying the credentials of influencers in specialized fields.
Proposals include creating a state-run register of qualified specialists and requiring platforms to mark verified accounts, allowing users to distinguish between professional advice and amateur opinion.

FISH STATUS?

Putin Orders Government to Make Fish More Affordable for Russians

President Vladimir Putin has ordered his government to develop measures to ensure Russians have access to affordable, high-quality fish, framing the issue as a matter of public health and national priority.
During a government meeting on the development of the fishing industry, Putin stressed that the domestic market must be the top priority for Russia's vast aquatic bioresources. "A balanced diet has a direct impact on people's health and life expectancy," Putin said, noting that Russia's per capita fish consumption, currently around 24 kg per year, is below the level recommended by the country's Ministry of Health.
The directive comes as Russia anticipates a total fish catch of around 4.7 million tons in 2025. However, logistical challenges and high costs often prevent the catch from reaching consumers at reasonable prices.
Addressing these issues, Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov highlighted the high costs of transporting fish from the Far East to central Russia and the difficulties in ship maintenance, proposing new support mechanisms for both. Putin instructed Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to formalize these proposals.

Ex-Rosgeologia Executive Avoids Verdict by Joining Ukraine War; Accomplices Jailed

A Moscow court has jailed two men for embezzling 12.6 million rubles from the state-owned geological holding company Rosgeologia, while the main defendant in the case, former deputy head Ruslan Gorring, avoided a verdict by enlisting to fight in Ukraine.
The Cheryomushkinsky District Court on Wednesday sentenced Alexander Pisarnitsky, head of a mining expert union, to 5.5 years in a penal colony and former contractor Oleg Chigrinov to 3 years. Both were taken into custody in the courtroom. The court also ordered them to repay the stolen funds to Rosgeologia.
The criminal case against Gorring, however, was separated and suspended after he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense about two weeks ago to participate in the special military operation. According to prosecutors, Gorring and his accomplices fabricated documents for drilling supervision work that was never performed.
This is Gorring's second major criminal case. He was previously convicted in 2019 for bribery. He was fired from Rosgeologia that same year after a video of him on the streaming platform Twitch surfaced in which he boasted about sexual relations with subordinates.

Russia's Illegal Vaping Market Exceeds 60% as Moscow Pushes for Tighter Controls

More than 60% of the vaping products market in Russia is operating illegally, a senior finance ministry official said, prompting lawmakers to push for a stringent new state-controlled system to regulate all nicotine-containing products.
Georgy Golovanov, a deputy director at the Ministry of Finance, told a parliamentary committee on Wednesday that while the illegal share of the traditional tobacco market has been reduced to 9.5%, the vaping sector remains a vast "shadow market." He described the illicit products as "not just harmful, but frankly dangerous" because they do not undergo any safety or quality assessments.
To combat this, the Russian government is advancing legislation that will introduce a comprehensive state regulatory framework for the production and circulation of all tobacco and nicotine-containing products, similar to the system used for alcohol. The new law would require licensing for the production, import, and sale of vaping devices and liquids.
The State Duma has already approved a bill in its first reading that would establish administrative and criminal liability for the sale of tobacco and nicotine products without a license. Lawmakers are also considering granting regional authorities the power to completely ban the sale of vapes in their territories.
However, some experts and industry figures warn that a total prohibition could be counterproductive, potentially driving the entire market underground and making it impossible for the state to control.

Odesa Covers Pushkin Monument Amid Pressure to Demolish Russian Symbols

The monument to Russian poet Alexander Pushkin in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa has been covered with wooden panels, effectively hiding it from public view amid a prolonged debate over its removal. The move on Thursday follows an order from the regional military administration to take the monument out of public sight.
The covering of the monument, which activists call a "conservation" that delays its legislated demolition, is the latest step in a city-wide effort to remove symbols of Russian imperial and Soviet rule. While Odesa's city council voted in December 2024 to dismantle 18 monuments, including the Pushkin bust, the process has stalled. The monument was previously stripped of its status as a national cultural heritage site by Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers in November 2024 to clear the way for its removal.
The city's former mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, had long opposed the monument's demolition, arguing it was protected by UNESCO as part of the city's historic center. In October 2025, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree stripping Trukhanov of his Ukrainian citizenship based on evidence provided by the security services of him holding a Russian passport. Trukhanov, who was subsequently removed from his post, has denied the allegations.
The Pushkin monument has been a frequent target for activists, who have doused it in paint and placed signs on it reading "Occupier" and "He has no place here."

Russian Regions Recruit Civilian Reservists to Defend Oil Refineries From Drones

Authorities in several Russian regions, including Yaroslavl, are recruiting civilian men into mobile anti-drone units to protect critical infrastructure, specifically oil refineries, from increasingly frequent Ukrainian attacks.
Announcements posted by district administrations in the Yaroslavl region, northeast of Moscow, call for "prepared and patriotically-minded citizens" to join "mobile fire groups" organized by the Ministry of Defense. The explicit goal is the protection of a local oil refinery.
Volunteers are being offered three-year reservist contracts with the Ministry of Defense. After a 15-day training period at a military polygon, they will serve on 45-day guard duties at the refinery, after which they can return home. The government promises that reservists' civilian jobs and average salaries will be preserved during their service, and they will receive additional payments from both the defense ministry and the refinery. Officials have stressed that these units will not be deployed to the "special military operation" zone in Ukraine.
The recruitment drive is not limited to Yaroslavl, with similar initiatives underway in the Tambov and Nizhny Novgorod regions to form units to defend local industrial facilities. The move follows the State Duma's recent passage of a bill allowing reservists to be deployed to protect critical infrastructure within Russia.

Russia Hits Owners of 30,000 Kazakh-Assembled Cars With Surprise Import Fees

Tens of thousands of Russian car owners are facing unexpected, multi-million-ruble bills after the Federal Customs Service (FTS) retroactively reclassified vehicles imported from neighboring Kazakhstan. The move affects over 30,000 Hyundai, Kia, and Skoda cars assembled in Kazakhstan and sold in Russia since the spring of 2024.
The owners, who initially paid a lower "commercial" utilization fee ranging from 667,000 to 1.9 million rubles, are now being ordered to pay an additional 750,000 to 3.5 million rubles per vehicle. The FTS argues that because the cars were assembled in a special economic zone in Kazakhstan using imported components, they do not qualify as goods produced within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and are therefore subject to the full utilization fee for imported vehicles.
Failure to pay the newly assessed fee will result in the cancellation of the car's electronic vehicle passport (EPTS), rendering it illegal to operate in Russia. The sudden policy shift has left consumers in a legal bind. Russian courts have already begun siding with the customs agency in initial lawsuits, ordering owners to pay the additional charges.
The Kazakh government has stated that the matter is an internal Russian customs issue and falls outside its jurisdiction. Meanwhile, an initiative group of affected car owners has appealed to the speaker of Russia's Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, requesting a moratorium on the collection of the new fees for cars imported before the policy change.

Crowd Overturns Military Recruitment Bus in Odesa Market Clash

A crowd overturned a military recruitment bus and clashed with its occupants at a major market in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Thursday, in a violent confrontation highlighting tensions over mobilization efforts.
The incident occurred early in the morning near the "7th Kilometer" market, one of the largest in Eastern Europe. Eyewitness accounts and videos circulating on social media show a crowd of several dozen people surrounding a minibus used by the Territorial Center of Recruitment (TCC). The confrontation reportedly began after TCC officers attempted to detain a man, sparking outrage from onlookers.
The situation escalated when TCC representatives allegedly returned with two more minibuses, leading to a larger brawl involving about fifty people. The crowd then managed to overturn one of the vehicles. The military personnel were pulled from the bus but were not seriously injured, according to witnesses.
A spokesperson for the market clarified that the incident took place near a checkpoint on an adjacent street, not on the market's territory, and initially involved warehouse workers from the area. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and national police have reportedly launched an investigation into the mass brawl.
Official comment from the Odesa regional TCC was not immediately available. The incident was condemned by Ukrainian member of parliament Oleksiy Honcharenko, who called the current recruitment system "absolutely abnormal" and in need of change.

They dont have the capacity or ability to sift information and understand that shit is coming from corruption. Most of the children here are not even old enough to remember ukraine has always been a piece of shit corrupt nation. Its absolutely insane anyone would support ukraine knowing even a little of their history. You would have to be a shit person, morally and mentally to be able too.

>infowars and breitbart are better. ngl i thought that it was like the onion

you just said you never hear of zerohedge, now you think you know enough to say who is better/worse than they are.

How many failed attempts has ukraine made to break through their encirclement today?

>than the entirety of the Second World War for the USSR.
it lasted six years not matter what they claim. vatnik unions joined ww2 with the molotov-ribbentrop pact (1939). When they joined the germans in starting the war together. they try to memory hole this fact hard and playing into their delusion of 41-45 is just tacitly aiding their propaganda

What makes matters worse is the average ukraine supporters in orders of magnitude more retarded than the communists Hitler argued with.

instead of coping here pidor you should be looking for a way to escape pidorashka into some other shitskin hole you belong. Your shilling wont stop you from getting gang press drafted. new mobilization was already implemented quietly and once you are on their list, you can't escape it without reporting to your local recruitment office in pidorsburg or muscovia

kek. you can tell donnie calling them a paper tiger and then slapping monkes ass with some superficial sanctions really got under his skin. Now he is beating his chest like the angry ape he is, making shit even worse trying to get agent orange back in line

morale of the lesson is gangsters belong in the prison or grave, not playing emperor in african kingdoms like snowgeria
