At the same time, because the buyer no longer has to pay property tax, it means their loan can be higher as they are better able to pay the Principle and interest as they don't also have to pay this tax. This means prices go up as more lending activity always results in higher prices. Also, if you do this, the landlords aren't going to pass on the saving to the renter and instead keep their extra money in their pocket. Cost are always passed on while savings really aren't (without competition). Keep in mind most of the homeowners are Boomers so this is a tax break for people who absolutely don't fucking need it. This is property taxes we are talking about. They go to your local government. This is what funds Schools something a family is going to care about more than an empty nest Boomer.
