I watche Massie's entire speech earlier. He left out one little detail. Why didn't the IDF finish off the USS Liberty and all its crew? Because an equivalent Russian spy ship was nearby listening into all the radio traffic and when they hear the Liberty was under attack they sailed up to see what was going on . The Russian ship sailed up with their crew on deck and saw the IDF patrol boats machine gunning the crew in lifeboats. The IDF too fright at the sight of the USSR spyship and fucked off in a big hurry.

One should also question why it was necessary for the IDF to attack the American spy vessel. Some say it was a false flag attack designed to make it look like the Egyptians did it and then bring the US and the USSR into the war. However there's a more interesting theory that there was a slaughter of civilians in the chaos of the 6 day war, an ethnic cleansing of a Palestinian town that day and there were radio communications among the troops carrying out the organized slaughter. The Liberty was listening in on that little genocide and the Israelis didn't want that inconvenient fact to be exposed so they elected to whack the Liberty and all its crew.
