He was the first Smark champhe paved the way for AEW
>capitalizes the S in smarkvery interesting indeed

>>19423057what's the answer
>>19423062It's in OP
>>19423062first smark champ was hephaistosfired and got himself over on the indies, called back up after smarks complained long enough
>>19423118That's wrong though
>>19422875Yep the redditor fags who were Punk fans in 2011 are the exact same people who went on to become AEW fans
>>19423133It's correctcope
>>19422735>Seething about Smark being capitalizedvery interesting indeed
>>19423163The smark choice that year was Batista
>>19423172?Why do you capitalise it though? Honest question.
>>19423174I also remember it this way
>>19423194Smarks rewrite history yet again
>>19423216They now claim the Yes Movement was the company's grand plan all along, not a smark champion.
>>19423226Normies wanted Bryan even more than smarks did. Only the dumbest marks cared about le evolution triple threat
>>19423244>Casuals wanted an indie midget champ
>>19423272Oh, so you weren't even watching back then. Figures
>>19423226The Yes Movement was so obviously a Triple Paul move it's not even funny. Look at how he booked Gargano in NXT. Paul was always a secret smark.
the best wrestlemania ever while triple nose fumbled 40 and 41 lmfaoooo
>>19423272Unironically, yes
>>19423272If you legitimately aren't familiar with the buildup and feel of WM30, it was incredible.
>>19423312>Cody winning was a fumblelmao Romanjeet forever seething
>>19423368>Wrestlemania attendance down YoY>Smackdown views and attendance hit record lows >people only care about Cody if he's feuding with Roman, Cena or The Rock
>>19423334i know you Smarks loved it>684,000 PPV buys
>>19423393That was the year where they launched the Network, you could get the trial and watch wrestlemania for FREE.and Bryan sells 684k buys anyways
>>19423393it was the first PPV on the network, so ppv buys were obviously down.https://youtu.be/ttiGTC5B2gg
>>19423381>it's all cody's fault, not the fact that the ticket prices doubled and no one has cableWWE was the hottest it ever was because people wanted to see Cody finish the story. The attendance increased because of him, not the other way around.
>>19422723Nah it was Bret
>>19422723>le smark champ>y had the whole stadium behind him, women and kids includedYeah, nah.
>>19423418that was because of Sami, Bloodline and The Rock, thoughbeit
>>19423404He's a draw in your mind as well?
>>19423455Dude imagine if a show was free and you convinced seven hundred thousand people to pay to see youHe might be the best draw of all time. If he's not a draw then he was a total win!
>>19423464He was such a huge draw that they gave it away for free?
>>19423521They tried and 700k literally forced money into Vince's hand, plus overnight they had a huge installbase for the Network.
>>19423529I don't get why antismarks deny reality just because they don't like small wrestlers. I don't like Cena or Roman, but to deny that they are over is just retarded.
>>19423529only nerds and Smarks sub to the WWE networkso that backs my claim up even more
>>19423562But Bert was a mark for himself, he thought the championship was real
>>19423566holy shit, you're retarded
>>19423566That's the only way to watch the shows though nowThey don't even call them PPVs. Probably because after Bryan they couldn't get peope to pay for them.

>>19422723why does Based D-Bry make vanilla gorilla size queen fags piss and shit themselves in utter seethe?
>>19423584don't blame him, he doesn't really know the topic
>>19423584Wrestlemania 30 was a decade ago, it's easy to forget. There are bitter jaded 22 year old smarks who have no fucking clue about it, which is odd to think about.
The kind of wrestling Danielson did on the indies, and the very generic underdog babyface stuff he did in WWE are vastly different than the wrestling that inspired Tony Kahn to start AEW
>>19423613Was that up for debate? Danielso wrestles like Benoit. He uses like two of his finishers.
>>19423587>That's the only way to watch the shows though nowMost people don't
>>19423605I've been watching since 1999, and Bryan's run from 2012-2014 was really special. He was over with casuals and smarks alike. I hadn't seen a crowd react like that since Austin in the late 90s.The real indicator was among my family and friends, they all had their favorites, Orton, Punk, Taker, Ziggler, Kane etc but they all rooted for Bryan. Unlike other babyfaces booked in his position, he felt incredibly sincere. He also had the charisma to pull off being a serious heel, comedy guy or babyface. equally believable in all roles.I'm going to go back and rewatch that 2012-2014 run. Probably the last time WWE was great.
>>19423613>I think Bryan Danielson fits on AEW like a glove. As long as he will consider wrestling with us, that door is always open. I would bend over backwards for him and do anything for Bryan Danielsont. Tony Khan
>>19423629Why don't you stop being so negative and just go watch Wm30? You might like it.
>>19423418>WWE was the hottest it ever was because people wanted to see Cody finish the story. And to think, we now know that the Rock was actively trying to fuck that multi-year story up by sidelining Cody and injecting himself into the main event against Roman.
>>19423634>he felt incredibly sincerefag>believable kek. He's 5'9 with a shit physique (love handles)
>>19423637Tony would bend over backwards for Pelle Prima cause he loves wrestling and is gay.
>>19423660yes he's a Smark
>>19423634Wrestlemania XXX was the last good mania.
>>19423653nah Anon nailed it, believable as helldangerous little fucker. you know he chased down a burglar and choke him out once?
>>19424390This again shows me that you're a Smarkbecause you rank a real fight with some random hispanic low life as making him believable rather than his ring workBecause it's not believable
>>19424437No, his ring work was extra believable, he would work around his size and be really intense and technical. Benoit but you can talk about him with normies. It's a shame you've built this idea in your head about him.
>>19423187bitchtits always does this
>>19422875/thread
>>19423689>Smarkstop doing that
>>19422723I don't agree with the sentiment either way, but that's objectively not true. Rob Van Dam went over John Cena for the world title in Hammerstein Ballroom 8 years before this in front of 2000 of the sweatiest smarks imaginable
>>19422723This was literally a repeat of Benoit down to it being the 10 year anniversary of WM20
>>19424470>It's a shame you've built this idea in your head about him.it's an idea that he's 5'9 and pudgy?>he would work around his sizeclassic Smark talkYou see he's small and see him "work around it" But it's okay because you're a Smark so you don't need to actually be convinced that he's believable
No. Anti-smarks (the biggest smarks of all) wanted Batista to win.
>>19424590You're the one on the outside here, Bryan was really over. Vince kept him around the uppercard for years. Calling me names isn't going to change what happened.
Benoit and Eddie at XX was the one designed to send the hardcores home happy. Bret actually got a shot at being the face of the company, mainly because Vince needed someone who wasn't a roid guy. Bryan is in-between these because while he wasn't going to get an actual shot at being the top guy the whole company had become focused on him and they needed the payoff.
>>19422723Yep. He irreparably broke the minds of so many smarks. 99% of the time when they complain about people being underused and ruined in WWE they are talking about this ugly fag
>>19422875That part.
>>19422723Was this guy really over and based or was it all fake and manufactured and cringe? I wasnt watching but he looks like shit
>>19426961the former
>>19426961Yeah he was pretty damn overBut like everything in wrestling post like 2007 they fumbled hard
>>19422723>he paved the way for AEWThat part

>>19426961Anon, think of how over a guy that looks like that would have to be in order for Vince to put him over every member of Evolution in one night
>>19422723Benoit
>>19427365To be fair he was meant to hold it until Summerslam that year if he hadn't been injured, he was gonna be the one Brock viciously squashed like a sack of shit.
>>19422723Nope there was another
>>19429046Just like Kofi some years later. At least the wokes can't say it was a race thing, it was a Vince thing.
>>19429046>>19429367that's not true. Bryan and Lesnar had a competitive match at Survivor Series. One of Lesnar's best matches ever.
>>19428907Yes he was the first champ that was forced through by the SmarksThat's the point
>>19429421I'm sure they did, they had incredible respect for each other. The Summerslam 2014 was a deliberate total squash. It was to establish Brock's power level when he returned from beating Taker. It wasn't about burying Bryan, or Lesnar disliking him.
>>19429430How so?Vince didn't have to give it to them. He just would have made a lot less money.
>>19426961He was over with the Smarksthat's it
>>19429448No but he gave in and it harmed the business and led to AEW and their indie midgetryThe idea that if Smarks pick you you should get the belt even though you're a midget midcarderIn the old days Vince would've stood strongKeep in mind that he was busy taking shits on female employees etc so he might nottof been in his right mind
>>19429489Well I appreciate you bumping the thread a lot so more people get to hear about Bryan anyway
>>19429489Vince gave the belt to Shawn and BretThey were both midgets of their time
>>19423562it took roman liek a decade to get over. i don't think any wrestler in history got as many chances as him
>>19429434>they had incredible respect for each otherReally? I'm surprised Brock didnt see him as a gay midget
The couch is downstairsI can turn you a light if you fraid
>>19430131Bryan Danielson is a real one, you gonna say Brock Lesnar is wrong?
>>19426961He was over and fans were upset about a mania main event being an evolution circlejerk
>>19429453everyone in the audience from 2012-2014 was a smark? Conor was a smark?
>>19422748This is true. Plus modern scripted matches start with him
>>19429792>They were both midgets of their timewhat youre saying is they wouldn't be midgets in the Smark indie midget era of your Daniel Bryans
>>19430256bryan isn't the start of smart marks liking a wrestler and you keep trying to tell us that he is
>>19430173casuals stopped watching wrestling and they don't buy tickets to a show and stand and cheer for a midgetcheck the viewership numbers
>>19430272He was the first guy to become champion purely from a Smark pushyes Smarks existed before but they weren't catered toFirst Semen Spunk appealed to the Smarks and embraced the Smark appealThen Smarks decided to put their power behind Danie Bryan and Vince gave in and allowed Smarks to book his showAEW is basically Smarks booking an entire promotion with their beloved indie midgets
>>19430278delusional
>>19430325Hit him with the guitar then
>>19430299you aren't doing anything but stating things and trying to force your point people on this board were there at the time
>>19430325you see the blue line
Voting worst or better than tay
>>19430332>people on this board this board is 80% Smarks>were there at the timeThe smell must've been horrendous
>>19430353Bryan was champion for 2 months
>>194303721. It set a precedent2. a symptom of the wider Smarkification of wrestling that was happening at the time3. funny because i was told itt that he was this amazing draw (he wasn't)
>>19430372I legitimately wonder where this discourse comes from because most people in the business have a lot of respect for Bryan.
>>19423613It's amazing how the cringe elevates and peaks with the botched flippy chokeslam reversal and incredibly bad knee strike.
>>19424590>5'9 and pudgySo, you also hate Ric Flair?
>>19430421I'm sure it was Bryan being world champion for 2 months and not the 10 year Roman push
