Elpis drives the van down towards the bay and turns the headlights off when turning the corner. The street is dead and dark. Only illuminated by the failing street lights. She lurches the vehicle further and then stops in the middle of the quiet street.

Elpis: Can’t pull over. We’ll leave tracks.

She does a 3-point turn and leaves the van in park. She turns around to her new cohorts. Each dressed in Black and Yellow.

Elpis: Alright it’s show time. Tell Kingly I said hello.

Iron Street Orphans is a community driven role playing game played within a thread updated daily. Character creation and mechanics are simple and take less than 20 minutes to learn. Once a character has been created post actions with green text using the “>”.

The game uses a roll under 1d10 system. Characters use AP to do actions during phases. Once players and enemies complete their phase a turn is completed.

With the polyp taken out the crew was able to regroup with more than cooperative Yellow Jackets. They were seperated from Kingly whose body was never found. The elevator was successfully turned on enabling everyone’s rescue by the people of Iron Street. If Kingly wasn’t dead he had abandoned his fellow gang members and somehow escaped. For their slights the remaining Yellow Jackets were given a choice: repent by working for the people of Iron Street or be thrown into the Aether much like their captors.

The aftermath of the attack was a destroyed Way Station and several dead from the Iron District. At least that was the rumours that were spread. In reality with the help of several “Strays” the Way Station while damaged was still intact yet the lie would cover the people of the Iron District for a time. There was one problem however, Kingly was still at large but had been strangely quiet.

The last mission saw its conclusion cut short and I wasn’t keen on creating a thread for a single turn. The final obstacle was felled and all that was left was reaching the elevator so for time’s sake that last part will have assumed to have happened. For the daring rescue and escape from the Way Station all participants receive the following:

- 15 NOMs
- 10 ExP for mission completion
- 1 ExP Per Turn
- 4 ExP per solo kill
- 2 ExP per assist (This counts buffing/healing actions/and contributing damage to obstacles)

Special mentions to the following characters that return:
- 5 ExP to Merkalin for restoring power
- 5 ExP to Mylja for death blow to the Polyp

Any other assorted loot from the map can be claimed assuming a reasonable means of getting it such as taking stuff from the Yellow Jackets.

>What is ExP? Glad you asked:
Progression: Orphans that go through combat and other scenarios gain “Exotic Particles” (ExP). This substance transforms and enables the body to become more proficient or leaves a mark. ExP can be transferred between parties willingly or not. Becoming more powerful goes as follows:

Proficiency: To increase proficiency you must spend 8*[Prof rank] ExP to increase it. You gain a single skill from that rank in proficiency and must spend [Prof rank]/2 rounded up to obtain any other skills. [Quirks] from Linework and [Contacts] from the Social proficiency are automatically unlocked with their respective ranks and count as the skill unlocked when obtaining a new proficiency

Marks: To increase Marks you must spend 10*[Mark] ExP of the respective one. So if you have a VIM of 3 and a SPT of 1 it would cost 30 and 10 ExP respectively.

There are a few corrections I need to make with the math and progression particularly with assists

-if you hit an enemy once and it dies you get the assist

-if you buff someone you get it per person per full duration of a fight meaning maintaining buffs will not count. Buffing yourself does not count.

-if you do a defensive action to mitigate damage, you get the assist

You only gain a single assist PER ENEMY. So attacking and buffing someone will not let you get twice the amount. The only one that changes is with healing

-if you heal a wound you get an assist per wound as it costs a NOM or FTG. Healing an ally via an item or replenishing FTG would only count as a single assist

You will be rewarded additional ExP for notable actions that critically contribute towards the mission.

Also you have 15 NOMs TOTAL. As in ya'll figure out how you're going to split that up.

Meridian's medkit always starts with 3 NOMs in it's bag.

The “Heavenly Bodies” was a bar deep in the Iron District. A group clad in rusty red sat in a corner of the dive. With them was an assortment of rabble that was definitely not from around. The “Orphans” as they were known as had been staying in the top apartment above the bar. It was the least the Ironites, people of the Iron District, could do. Elpis and Thalia formally introduced themselves. They were sisters that had grown up in the Iron District which was named for its mine and the reddish clay that seemed to get everywhere. Along with them was Bitters, Sugar, Twist, Ice, and Rye. The group of locals would fill the Orphans in on what had been going on.

The District was surrounded by slum lords but had been relatively ignored due to not having much strategic importance. That is until discovery of the Way Station inside the mine. A single Way Station could turn any settlement into a major metropolis let alone another District in a city, and had word gotten out the District would become the main battleground for the gangs as well as draw attention from Aegia, the central government. It had only been a few months since its discovery and this was the first time any gang had pressed in, even a small time one like the Yellow Jackets.

Bitters was the bar owner and an older man with a baritone of a voice with a bellow of a laugh. Elpis sat pensive twirling a cigarette in her fingers and staring at her drink.

Bitter: Well I don’t know how you did it but these Drifters of yours are welcome to stay as long as they like after saving you. Although I imagine it’s a bit crowded at the moment. Anyways what’s wrong exactly?

Elpis: I “interrogated” those nimrods and none of them had a clue as to what happened to Kingly.

Bitters: You still got feelings for that boy?

Elpis: What!? Fuck no. I’m worried he might still be around and might have friends. When word gets out the Way Station wasn’t completely destroyed we’ll have every sly asswipe this side of the Rust Way on us.

Bitters: I heard you the first 10 times doll. Some associates of mine have been searching since you told us 4 days ago, and we have an idea of where they might be.

Bitters goes on to reveal that his associates located a safe-house the Yellow Jackets had which was a likely spot for Kingly to be hiding.

Bitters (pointing a glass at the Orphans): I think it’s about time you all earned your keep. I don’t mind if you want to keep staying but we’re all in danger as the girl is saying. We can’t let anyone know about the Way Station being intact. We already spent a fortune getting every local paper to buy our story as is. We would appreciate if you took care of this problem. Might even throw in some Silvers this time around.

Elpis: I really appreciate everything you all have done. I don’t think any of you want to be here any longer but the Way Station needs power, it needs repairs, and it needs upgrades. To get you all on your way you’ll have to help us regardless. So the first order of business is to get that rat bastard Kingly. He knows what really happened and we need him silenced. If Silverson or anyone else finds out the Way Station is still intact they’ll just send another force after us.

A couple of snap tones and an all night binge of energy drinks later, and Merkalin makes himself into a somewhat decent Hexxer. Trying to look through the greater Mesh his search comes up with old stories of a cult that wanted to purge the "Gift" from people and to "seal away the hells of the other worlds". It seems their last bit of activity had been decades ago. As for the Russian he couldn't find anything except for some very old police transcripts of looking for someone past Phoria. It seems he'd have to look deeper into the Mesh, something he could not do himself.

Frustrated, Merkalin calls up his Banker friend he made while waiting in line at a bakery one day. He shows him the black ledger as well as the tome stick lodged into the slate. Together they peer through the Black ledger and do find a number to a safety deposit box. Unfortunately it's in the Second Ring, where the "really really really rich people bank" his friend tells him. It's way above his pay grade and the manager grilled him about looking where he shouldn't.

Worse yet while walking back to the Heavenly Bodies, Merkalin gets jumped. It happens in a flash but when Merkalin comes to he has everything on his person... except the ledger.

Elpis: Ehhhhhh what's there to say? I lived here all my life so its home. It used to be an old mining town but that doesn't seem to be all it was since we found the Way Station here.

Kincaid says farewell and tells Elpis he wants to walk around the District. She chastises him for doing something reckless and offers to show him around.

Walking through the district it's hard for Kincaid to imagine this was an old mining town. All around them are brick and steel buildings several stories high. The streets are run down and an elevated railway screams to life with a passing car. Elpis helps Kincaid up towards a smoke stack for a better view. Everywhere there's life. Mothers watching their children. Men sitting on the corner playing cards and sharing drink. Couples stealing kisses. Farther in the distance you can see spires of concrete and steel. Higher than anything imaginable. Plastered all over are logos and trademarks burning the night's sky.

Elpis: I'm getting a bit hungry what about you? I know a good Pizza place.

They climb down to the streets below. The graffiti and piss stained alleys don't make for great scenery but even the trash has its own charm. The two walk back to the Heavenly Bodies, and Elpis speaks to him before taking off.

Elpis: I hope you had a good night. It's not much but its home.
