You are a minor noble who is setting out to colonise a patch of wilderness far away from any civilisation. You can choose if you want fantasy or realistic. Before setting out on the journey you must choose what party you want to take with you. Either a small party of 20 people who are all able bodied and fit or a larger party of around 40 including elders and children. These might slow you down but the elders have experience. You can also choose from either a blacksmith or a healer to accompany you.
>>6100057I'd like fantasy. Larger party with the healer.
>>6100057fantasyparty of around 40 including elders and children healer
>>6100057>Fantasy, Large
Low Fantasy (There are some fantastical creatures and magic, but still somewhat grounded)Large party, with a blacksmith
>>6100057Fantasy, of course. Party of 40 with elders and children.Healer, since that’s always crucial in early settlements.
>>6100057>fantasy, large, healer
You estimate that the journey will take about two months but it shouldn't be all that hard. Your group has 5 carts each with its own beast of burden in addition you have a horse which you can use for scouting. After 2 week your party is travelling along a muddy road mid way up a very steep hill. One off your carts carrying some blankets, food and various pieces of equipment slides and falls of the road. Luckily the mule pulling it detaches itself and is fine. What do you do?A: Attempt to pull the cart back up the hill.B: Attempt to rescue as much of the contents as you can but leave the cart.C: Leave
>>6100171A: Attempt to pull the cart back up the hill.
>>6100171>A: Attempt to pull the cart back up the hill.
>A: Attempt to pull the cart back up the hill.
>>6100171>B: Attempt to rescue as much of the contents as you can but leave the cart. After 2 weeks we have space in the other carts for lots of stuff.
>>6100235>>6100226>>6100189You gather the abled bodied men and attach ropes to the cart. You manage to pull the cart almost back to the road however one of the men slips, breaking his arm against a tree. Part of the contents of the cart fall deep down the valley into a fast river at the bottom. Those who chose the healer can easily mend the man's arm. Those who chose the blacksmith can easily replace some of the lost equipment.
>>6100240You manage to gather up almost everything from the cart, in fact much of what you left behind probably wouldn't be very useful and even included some rotten food.
The rest of the journey is fairly uneventful though at the end a single elder dies leaving the composition of your party as the following.10 able bodied young men(inc you)10 abled bodied young women12 children, some of who will come of age in a few years7 eldersAs you arrive you have the choice of where to set up your new settlement, though for the time being all you have is tents and any wilderness shelters you can make. Choose the area you'd like to inhabit from the image with a dot. Each area would have advantages, future trade, resources, defense etc.The month is May how would you like to utilise your people for this month, exploring, foraging, building houses etc.
>>6100615
>>6100615Use the month for foraging
>>6100615Building houses.
>>6100615Get out of my... Y'know
>>6100654The ravine where you set up camp doesn't offer much in the form of farmland though is fairly defensible. Some of the people think they see the possibility to set up a mine nearby.Since you stated no activity I'll just assume generic working stuff.
>>6100692The hill offers a great vantage and defensive point point but climbing it can be annoying. The foraging is quite successful you gather a large quantity of food and bring down quite a few deer and smaller animals. However some of your people is insistent that they've seen shapes or beings watching them from nearby hills and thickets as they forage.
>>6100758Initially the forest seems quite cramped however once you started building houses you found yourself in the middle of a large clearing.
>>6100759The swamp is an interesting choice to a lot of your people however being near the water does mean that trade in the future will be easy. Since you stated no activity I'll just assume generic working stuff.
You can now decide how you want to spend the summer (you have seeds for planting). In the first week of june 2 trappers stumble by your settlement and tell you that they have just started living nearby on the river, trading with them for furs is possible.Meta, if you want all these settlements could be in the same place/instance and be able to interact with each other.
>>6100777>Forage, plant berry bushes
>>6100777Do we have multiple groups or are we all just one group? I'm a bit confused right now. Should I make my own sub-group of people with their own area or are we supposed to be all together as one?If we all have our own little groups, I'll go here.>Clear the top of the Hill and build ourselves a settlement there.
>>6101254It's completely separate unless everyone would want to inhabit the same world, which would allow interaction between people. The hill offers a good vantage point and the building of the settlement goes well with it not being long before everyone has houses. However, it won't be long until you run out of food.
>>6101306It'd be silly for us not to be in the same world so we can be a community of small tribes/villagesAnyway,>ActionWe clear some land between us and the river to sow the seeds we have spare. Then, as they grow, we go out hunting/gathering.
>>6100771>>6101306>Explore the mine for any valuable resources. A second party looks for animals to hunt. A third group begins fishing in the river.
>>6101316You now have a very good supply of food for the future and your people are secure about their future.>>6101348You strike lucky and find a large deposit of silver. While the hunt turns up little game the fishing parties find there are large numbers of fish in the river. As summer comes to a close two distinct groups offer to join your village.A family of dwarves experienced in mining though demanding in food or a small group of elves who are somewhat familiar with surrounding lands.Since elves and dwarves dislike each other you can only take one group and the other will feel scorned. At roughly the same time as these groups appear a child goes missing while picking berries in the surrounding lands. Some villagers swear it is the work of a spirit or foul monster. What will you do about this missing child? Finally Autumn is here and soon winter what do you spend autumn doing?
>>6101808Autum is a time to gather in the Harvest; to build up our stores. Pick soft fruits and make from them preserves.which if us gets the events? or do we each get both of them?
>>6102118..I guess this is deceased. Ah well.
