What is it about an empty city- lights and machinery humming and buzzing but entirely absent of people, cars, etc that is so unbelievable comfy? Its been my fantasy since middle school desu

Also the snow makes this 10x comfier too, distant noise levels would be at a minimum as well hnng

snow is amazing
here's a comfy story
>be me last winter
>snowy as fuck and around -10c temp
>had a really shitty evening/night
>wake up in the morning, dress up and just go out
>go to the woods
>walk up some hills, go far till there's nothing no settlements or roads near
>just me, woods, snow and silence
autistic but comfy

At certain times of day (late morning, early afternoon) in the right neighbourhoods in Tokyo, you can get exactly that. It was a bit spooky to see. The streets were pristine, but there literally wasn't a single person or car around for several blocks.

Be glad. In US you have no healthcare, no foreskin, no racial equality, no gender equality, high taxes and high cost of living. It's a massive shitshow of a country and I resent that I'm stuck here.

Living on a ship like this could be fun for a while, but I imagine the dysphoria would kill me. I'm trapped in a relatively small space knowing that any random stray piece of trash could end our entire world, and also knowing that the next generation will be raised never knowing the wide expanses of skies and endless plains and open seas. Eventually, with enough generations and given a long enough voyage away from home, men will start to treat Earth as a legend and a myth, with the outspoken among them saying that Earth never existed and is nothing but an old wives' tale.

That's just an O'Neil Cylinder in L4 space, one of dozens, its a station not a ship, and it orbits the Earth, those who want to stay on world can but those who wish to live on stations can do so too.

It represents the fact that humans are not bound to the Earth anymore and have spread out into the solar system living on stations, moons, and even super stations like these a bright and optimistic future for humanity

>even when/if Mars is terraformed to be hospital, it will be far enough into the future that we likely will not tolerate innawoods people anymore, and all colonists will be strictly regulated
>even post-Terraformed Mars will be extensively mapped from the moment the first mold begins to grow, no mapmakers or frontiers will ever be present
>even when/if we send out manned missions outside our own solar system, they will almost certainly be preceded by wave upon wave of sophisticated unmanned probes leaving very little to the imagination

you can argue we already live in a dystopian time.
>>
>>48130764
We do, certainly. The degeneracy of this time is terrible.
>>
>>48130764
It's arguable that all of history has been a dystopian time, though, isn't it?
I guess the thing I was aiming for, specifically, was a fall of civilization to the point where we as a race (not individual nations) lost technology and in particular data storage, so that anyone curious about modern history couldn't just look it up on Wikipedia but had to rely on verbal legends and archaeology.
