china and chinese websites and apps aren't us citizens. either way, if a us company was guilty of improperly collecting data (like children under 13) they'd be fined or sued or shutdown too.

This would be a financial loss but a moral victory for since they have made the US do the same thing that they were ridiculed for, which is banning foreign social media it can't compete with.
