I never really went to Greggs that often unless I was at a train station or something. I went to the local bakery chain because it's nicer.

It's fine. Dare I say good for the price because it's incredibly cheap. Sometimes I'd get the very bad pizzas on my way home from work in London. Yummy...
>What kind of stuff did they have at the bakery/what would you get?
They had very nice jam doughnuts. I liked those a lot. I got chocolate mice and mint frogs from there as a kid. They also did cheese straws and those were nice too.
>>
>>83051765
I see, I see. I've been misled about them then. Jam doughnuts are my kind of thing especially. Not a fan of mint though, despite my family all loving it. Cheese straws are peculiar, having looked them up. I'd want to try those too.

If you ever come to the US though, you need to try fried pig skin :), especially the spicy varieties.

Man, that pic is reminding me of how I want to go pan for gold. I even have the weird notion that it'd be really nice to pan all of the gold for a pair of wedding rings if I ever somehow got with a nice girl. The diamonds could be made from carbon from our hair and/or blood too. She'd get the diamond(s) made from my carbon and I'd get the one(s) from hers so that we each have a piece of the other.
>>83052139
I wish I had anything I could say to help with that, but I unfortunately don't :(

I don't think they're too difficult to make at home. Would recommend.

I'm not much of a pig guy but I think my dad would probably enjoy that a lot.

>>83052058

All the toilets in the building got turned off for repairs I think. And then I may have broken mine in an attempt to fix it...

Sleepy, huh? Sleep is for the weak, sadly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkRIVOlNwr0

Raspberry doughnuts are my favorite :), do they have raspberry jam doughnuts? Also, I might have to try and make some cheese sticks but they also seem like something I'd butcher. I'm not the best with baking or frying and those look like one or the other is necessary.
>I'm not much of a pig guy but I think my dad would probably enjoy that a lot.
They don't taste like pork actually, they have a completely different but still savory taste since it's the skin and not meat. They're kind of like cheese puffs in texture but a bit tougher so when you bite you actually get a crunch. Cheese puffs often sold in stores are just fried corn starch iirc.
>>
Feeling down again. I'm going to buy some ice cream at 2:30am.

>>83052978
>Raspberry doughnuts are my favorite :),
I'm pretty sure they used raspberry. Or it might have been strawberry. One of those.
>I might have to try and make some cheese sticks but they also seem like something I'd butcher
I tried to make crazy bread a few times when I still had an oven but I could never quite get it right.
>Cheese puffs often sold in stores are just fried corn starch iirc.

Perfect, the Greggs doughnuts will definitely be sampled if I get the chance then >B^). I've never had crazy bread, or Little Caesars really either. I have heard that it's good though and corn can't make good porridge :) I made someone very upset earlier by saying that grits were my least favorite food.
>>83053403
Sadly not in Florida, or at least most of it. It'd also be a bit dangerous to go to the water's edge to dig up sand and swish it around... Noise and disturbances in the water make gators come looking :). They get curious about you, I'm sure it's nothing harmful.

Also, you'd be surprised at what you could do in a city to get gold B^). I have a nice video for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfrqUNFtM6A
I imagine nowadays it might be a bit harder since that video got so popular, but who knows. You're essentially recycling gold in that manner, but also it may be better to chemically digest the stuff you vacuum up since it's mostly organic.

Glad you liked my idea too B^), although it may not cost that much in 10 years time. Artificial diamond costs have been going down and down. Iirc China's demand for artificial demands specifically helped drive that a lot.
>>
>>83053437
ah ok that makes a lot more sense
but how did you break it anyway? was it like, the bowl, a corner, something else? is it unusable?

>>83053445
>Noise and disturbances in the water make gators come looking :)

that smile. you're actually hoping they come along, aren't you? you absolute fucking menace
hunting for food while gathering gold at the same time, you're optimizing your tasks here

>you'd be surprised at what you could do in a city to get gold
oh i'm sure there's plenty to be had in electronic garbage
just not panning in rivers, that's only going to get you steamy piles of shit, plastics, rotten food, among other organic waste

>chemically digest
how would one do that?
also that reminds me of stray, the game
people made some bacteria that would eat up their waste but it kinda got out of control

>although it may not cost that much in 10 years time.
i'm sure it'll take way more for me to celebrate 10 years of marriage with anyone
gotta get actually married in the first place, right?
but that's good, i hope it becomes popular here too
>>
>>83053510
If it weren't for the laws of these lands... I would've kidnapped a baby gator and made him my pet already. I've actually caught a baby gator fishing ages back, like a decade ago by now. That same gator I got to watch grow up until some lady called to have it removed because it was getting big. It used to hide in this one drainage pipe across from my grandpa's yard where it could watch me too. I would also want to hunt gator too, you saw right through me

Yeah, the rivers probably won't have much. In that video he specifically went for the sidewalks in the jewelry section of New York. Since they were making jewelry and handling them, tiny and fine bits of gold get on them and fall off outside of their shops.

For chemically digesting the sludge though, you don't have to use bacteria but you can use stuff like hydrogen peroxide and sulfuric acid if you wanna be really dangerous about it :). https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SomVrg951-Q
Also that seems odd, since we already have bacteria that eat our waste. Did they make them super capable or something?

Also, true, true. I imagine it should become more popular where you live too. I know in the US there's now a company that offers a service for turning a loved one's ashes into diamonds too.
>>
>>83053548
>baby gator
raising a whole ass gator for food since birth, so you wanna get into the business too huh?
you're more nefarious than i thought...

>sidewalks in the jewelry section
oh huh, that's a good spot yeah
i don't think the same would happen around here because i mostly see shops who sell jewelry all ready, i'm yet to see a place where it gets actually made

>hydrogen peroxide and sulfuric acid
yeah i figured some strong acid/oxidizer would do the trick, it must smell utterly repulsive though...
>Did they make them super capable or something?
yep, they're capable of chewing through anything
organic, metallic, even dangerous chemicals or whatever
over time they evolved and became out of control, and grew into what we see as the zurks over there

>a service for turning a loved one's ashes into diamonds too.
i heard about that too, but i'm not sure if such a thing exists here
but i'd go to any extent for a loved one, so... if it exists, i'll find it and get it done
>>
The ice cream has been consumed. Probably paid too much, but I needed cheering up.

>>83053445
>the Greggs doughnuts will definitely be sampled if I get the chance then
Those are from the local chain. I think Greggs does donuts too but they aren't as nice.
>I've never had crazy bread
It's crazy good!

>>83053510
>but how did you break it anyway?
I don't know the technical terms, but one of the tubes that goes from the flusher to the bit that releases the water came off, so I'm not sure if it still flushes...
>>
>>83053628
I mean, I would like to farm, but I would also like just a normal pet gator that I don't eat. They do seem to be able to become more docile than other crocodilians and crocodilians are actually quite intelligent. If I were immortal then I'd be selectively breeding them to be proper pets like dogs and cats are. No real risk of them attacking their owner and would even come to love and seek affection from them.

As for jewelry I imagine there'd be some kind of workshop or manufactory for that and if I had to guess then I bet they sweep their floors to collect lost gold dust and gems.

I think for piranha solution it doesn't smell so bad since it's mostly just producing carbon dioxide. I don't think much sulfur is released with its use, but we'd need to consult one of the two chemist anons(seems 'guya is busy so it may be a bit, that or he forgor about the thread). You can also just use a strong oxidizer and a bit of heat. I think I remember some mixture of iron(for catalyzing it, I think) plus hydrogen peroxide in warm water will break down a lot of organics too.

Also, I see. I thought by waste you meant the more biological kind and not e-waste and metal scraps. There are actually microbes that do "digest" metal, kind of. They use them like we might oxygen, but usually they use the rusty forms(various metal ions in solution to be more specific). The blood falls in Antarctica is full of said bacteria actually, it's what makes it so bloody looking, all of that rust :). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_Falls

Also I imagine you could get it done internationally without much issues. There is also another way to make diamonds beyond the hot, compressed way but the other way makes tiny diamonds instead. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verneuil_method

You'd need to recapture the carbon though since most of it won't form a diamond on the first pass. It can still make quite large gemstones too, but it's a lot of work.

I somehow managed to get the tube back on. This is probably the single greatest feat of dexterity in my entire life, since I had to attach it to the underside of the valve, all while doing it through a hole I can just barely fit my hand in.

also make sure you turn the main water valve off because in either of those cases, there's a good chance it'll cause a big water leak in your bathroom when the water comes back...

I've had a pretty uneventful day. Mostly just bedrotting. It doesn't feel too bad though.
I keep thinking about how I should make my mark on the world somehow. Maybe I could make some music or art or writing. I'm too scared to commit to anything, though. That's probably why I feel so stuck in life while everyone around me seems to be moving on.
Bit depressing to think about.

B^) the gators will enjoy their time on the farms... Well treated animals taste much better >B^).
I'unno if I'd eat a pet gator though. I didn't eat any of the hens who died on me. I think I'd want to bury them or cremate them and use the ashes for fertilizer for a nice tree. It feels wrong to eat 'em. Also a lot of the dog breeds that like to attack their owners are usually from breeds that were bred to be aggressive, like terriers(pit bulls being a mix of a terrier and bull dog iirc). Also abused dogs are more likely to snap too.

Also I know gold storage places will have these brushes for their employee's shoes to collect any gold dust too. That's for more high-end places too, so it's bound to be like that for any jeweler that's breaking down and molding gold, not just storing it.
>the smell of chemistry attracts them
B^) it's only a matter of time before I can pick their brains again.
>question, what could we even do with these broken down organics? could we turn them back into their base elements?
Yup! You can convert carbon dioxide back into carbon and that's most of what you'd get from digesting it, but you can recover just about everything else too if you keep it all contained. You can even in theory collect some gold and silver from waste, although silver is much more abundant and prone to being soluble from what I remember.

Also, I see. Zurk make me think of electric bacteria then which don't necessarily need enzymes to break something down, they can just get energy from the electric potential differences. You could probably enhance electric bacteria to also digest metals without them needing to be rusty, but their process would be to make the metals rusty as a part of their digestion.

>>83054335
True, could work it into a nice vacation! That's a great idea and oh yeah, the verneuil method is way more involved than that, but even the corpse diamonds are more involved too. You have to chemically treat the ash I believe to get a lot of the stuff that isn't carbon out, like the akali and akali earth metals. If you don't do that then the resulting diamond could be weirdly colored, although you can work in the right impurities to color the diamonds how you want to as well.

Did you at least take vitamins while you were starving yourself? I hope you're working yourself back into eating again and can avoid refeeding syndrome.

It's been a while since I did an animal fact thing. Pic related is one of the deepest animals found beneath the Earth's surface, Halicephalobus mephisto(yes it's named after a demon, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halicephalobus_mephisto ). It's a nematode and I'd like to just call it the "Hellworm" since it lived in rather hellish conditions. It lived in deep ground water and was collected from a mine where tons of water was filtered to look for any microbes or animals. Only one specimen was ever collected and it was damaged but was managed to be rehabilitated enough so that it could asexually reproduce. It's so adapted to its environment that it even preferred bacteria from anaerobic microbes to eat over e. coli. They can tolerate higher temperatures too :)

I only ever found it at this one ritzy ice cream place. It was on one of the islands rich people buy properties here, so everything was really expensive but also really nice. I rate it as being much better than raw flesh :).

Not much, granted I barely talk to people in general. I'm usually tormented by paranoia and delusions that everyone on this planet secretly watches my every step and plot to kill me. That is when I'm not having megalomaniac tendencies of course.

>>83059773
I see, I see. Make sure you're getting vitamins and such. Paranoia and delusions aren't a good thing, but psychosis(actually going crazy) is associated with vitamin and mineral deficiencies. A healthy body keeps a mind healthy. How're you doing also? Enjoying the new haircut?

I don't really "enjoy" my haircut, the same way I don't enjoy being fashionable or being up-to-date with my generation's trends. I just care about practicality and that's all.
That aside I had a mini breakdown (nothing serious, just an "oh shit..." moment) because I realized almost all major UmaMusu twitter accs I follow are AI slop. This shit is getting too convincing at mimicry, it can't end well I tell you.

It would be nice but at this point I'd take a hug from anyone except my stalker. I think the last time I had one was when I visited home. Someone I'm not related to would have been about 3.5 years ago. Maybe I should go to a convention with a "free hugs" sign or something...

taking it easy on my day off
today i had a dream that i was going on a "trip" to a very distant district of my city, which doesn't even exist irl but it was this isolated reserve area with lots of nature and almost no people around
i was supposed to go with an anon i talked to in this board some time ago and i remember us looking at the map apps to see what could bring us there, because at first i just grabbed my bike and would have her ride along with me, but when she told me where we would be going to, i was like
>that's way too far to go by bike, let's check the maps

so there we were, looking at bus routes, subway and train lines, trying to plot a course because no single transport method would get us there
we'd have to hop off at some point and go by another method, so we checked out which ones would be more convenient and we spent a lot doing that
we finally decided on taking the subway there to the last station and then just going the rest of the way by car (an uber because i can't drive), but as soon as we did, just before we went off, i woke up

it was nice to see another anon in a dream today
thank you for being there
as always, you guys take care of yourselves today, do something cool with your time, something new

Never heard of it. Is it spooky? Should I play it?

As in why it felt nostalgic? It's basically a simulation of a computer from the 90s (although the game takes place in like the 60-70s)

I get spooked pretty easily, so that's probably a good thing. Is it anything like Hypnospace Outlaw?

It's where the hookers live.
>Also, what's wrong with you again?
Feeling particularly sad and lonely again.

i haven't even met one of them so no talking to that one
but yes, i keep in touch
i just don't expect to be joined, that's all
especially since i'm behind a cgnat with no ipv6 so the only way of connecting to me is through zerotier so there's another extra step there (though granted, zt is simple as fuck, just install, join network, ask me to authorize the device, done)

>At least wait for sex robots...
I don't have the space for one, unfortunately.
>Is this related to the same stuff as last time?
Not quite.
>>
>>83071791
now we're talking.
i firmly believe it's good practice to talk about our feelings for the same reason that it's also good to air out our thoughts
talking about thoughts helps us put them in their place, as for feelings it helps us understand what's really going on and really... feel them, i guess
it won't really alleviate much but a kind word when you're feeling down will help, and understanding is the first step towards acceptance

it's so hard to be vulnerable like that though...
but when it feels like you have nothing left to lose, then consequences be damned.

Been visiting family over the weekend cause cousin is getting married. Happy for him. Not something I will ever get to experience it seems. Bought some old glassware over a local side that I need to pick up later this week. Some nice round bottom flasks and not the cheap kind either for dirt cheap. Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
>>
>>83071894

I know why I'm feeling them, I just wish I wasn't. I still haven't gone a day without crying yet.
>>
>>83073169
yeah. not your case, but in those cases when we don't really know what's going on, it helps
the second part is more true to your case though, we adapt to a lot of things...
the more we get exposed to a bad feeling, the more we get numbed out to it.

anyway, just me rambling at this point, sorry anon
but feeling this way shows you care, at least. you're human, you have a heart.
you'll be all better, but no shame kn bawling your eyes out for now
take your break, take it easy, as much as you can, and as always, we'll be here for you

on more cheerful news, you got dinner plans today? i'll be eating yesterday's leftover pidser and playing skyfactory 5 myself
if you're ever interested in joining me, let me know and i'll send you my zt network address so you can play too

>The goofy boomer websites look pretty legit
I'm just about old enough to remember when personal websites were still widespread so I got a nice kick out of it. Makes me a bit sad that we can't go back to that time.
Some of the music is pretty good too and one of the tracks has earned a spot in my Christmas playlist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftEz-m0kEWA
Unfortunately the sequel got canned because of scope creep (probably made too many dumb music videos).

damn, the life of an immigrant
it all seems so distant to me now, but i had dreams of moving to the US or canada later in life and working there
now with canada infested with indians (according to some canadian acquaintances) and the US being a massive bitch towards immigrants in general, i think i'll stay right here in my safe haven
