because most modern bug budget releases are just so shit that they aren't worth it. companies spent years pushing for higher and higher graphic fidelity and we got way past the point of diminishing returns, so now we spend 10 years making every single AAA game have individual pubic hairs on player character models and 6 weeks writing the story and making gameplay. it's a travesty. you can escape by playing retro games on chinkhelds or emulated on your phone or PC, or you can get into indie games, plenty of good to be found there.
