Any other autistic alcoholics who want to get sober here? I am tired of being addicted to liquid garbage.

Before anyone says something like "just quit" you have to understand that alcoholics are different from normal people. We are literally hardwired to metabolize alcohol as if it were an opiate. I have only ever drank alone and have felt a great sense of euphoria from doing so. This is why alcohol is so dangerous for alcoholics.

If you are a fellow autistic alcoholic who wants to help each other quit then please post your Discord.

Why did you start drinking? I don't say this to blame you, I'm just curious.

Quit drinking and smoking weed 11 days ago, can't wait to have the real me back after these withdraws.

Not OP, but I assume peer pressure, or following in the footsteps of parents is are the most common reasons?

After the withdraws, being sober is actually not too bad. the normal state of feeling is definitely happier.

1.) Genetics (the primary cause)
2.) Curiosity as a child
3.) General malaise

Not autistic, but am an alcoholic. The real alco's aren't at your bars, pubs or clubs. We're all at home.

I've been sober for a month and a half and it's driving me fucking insane. I'd keep drinking if I didn't have health problems that freaked my friends and family out.

Um... just stop metabolizing the opiates so much then or something. Just drink one or two beers with your dinner sometimes like a normal person (like me)

I'm an alcoholic autistic girl, but I really don't want to give up alcohol, sorry!

I think I've got the boozer gene. The trick for quiting, or at least drinking less often is keeping yourself busy and finding things your enjoy. For me this has helped a lot, but I still drink from time to time. I was never an always drunker, more of a binge drinker and I only drank hard liquor.
That euphoric feeling is amazing especially when you're feeling down. Damn, I should go buy some liquor.

Yeah exactly. Treating alcohol as if it were heroin never leads to anything good.
