I had that done to both my ears a while back, though my doctor didn't mention any risks so it might've been a different procedure. Used a metal hose to flush water deep into my ears and back out. All I could hear was a loud running river, but dulled with that underwater droopiness of sound. The water was cold and it felt a bit rough, but it seems to have went well for me. I've used debrox since and it works but everybody's ears are different.
