Autists aren't accepted by the herd, but still need social connection and thus naturally gravitate to "not normal" sexualities where being different isn't seen as a bad thing. If you're an autist (heterosexual) and you get rejected by every single woman you've ever met during your formative years your brain will start to internalize that rejection in ways that your brain will then adapt to, i.e. getting told by women you're unmasculine because you're quiet or weird and therefore not attractive, leads to feelings of dysphoria, which then lead to transgenderism/homosexuality/bisexuality/asexuality/whateverIn a way it's sort of like the pygmalion effect

It rare I come across such ideas these days but this really is quite a fascinating thought. Not sure if it's true, but I'm very curious now. I'd imagine the actual rate would be slightly lower, just because there's almost certainly some percentage of homosexual autists who would be hetero if they were able to. The ones who are "prison gay" essentially, due to lack of success with the opposite sex. Due to autism not being such a big deal in females, I guess we would want to see if the rates of homosexuality are similar in female autists.
