I'm bracing to go into work any day now and see ICE there now that the shutdown is over

Ugh.
>>
>>83088988
What's wrong with ice? We voted for this
>>
And what's wrong with that? They're doing an important job that needs to be done
>>
>>83088997
I won't go into that, what I will say is if they deport people where I work my life is going to be hell for at least the next six months.

Possibly an opportunity to move up in the company but at what personal cost?
>>
just get in the van, Paco
>>
>>83089008
So? This is democracy and we voted to remove the illegals so they are removing illegals
>>
>>83088988
ICE didn't stop working during the shutdown, they're 'essential'. Midway Blitz has been ongoing in Chicago every single day.

>>83089008
>Possibly an opportunity to move up in the company but at what personal cost?

>Acknowledges the foreign scab is getting in the way of your opportunities
>Gets deported
>'Personal cost'
>mfw
>>
>>83089008
Hey how about you don't work with a bunch of illegals.
Report those fuckers and your boss
>>
>>83088988
ICE has been operating the entire time.

which is good because holy fuck there's so many squatemalans around it's disgusting
>>
>>83089054
Yeah but that didn't stop many essential workers/businesses from slowing down or cutting back. The FAA last I heard had started mandating airlines cut back, so some were looking to prioritize international and main-hub traffic.

PD and police where I am basically went MIA within a week and the only thing you'd see were state police here and there, even then they scaled back eventually too.

The day the government was announced to re-open cops were out in full force everywhere.

Boss is white, workforce was white and has been slowly being replaced by Asian-americans (Mung and vietnamese) as the old-timers retire or leave. Job also pays too well for me to just give it up. BUT I am moving and will likely switch to a job closer to where my new home will be.

2019: 90% white workforce.
2025: 60% or so white workforce.

>>83089103
Maybe where you are, sure.

I guess you'll be working in mexico, cya pal

>When will disappearing 1/4th of the population change anything

Well if it has no impact at all, I guess there's no reason to miss them.

But the expected impact comes in the forms of, less people around to buy goods and services, more open units of housing, etc. More supply, less demand, crush the prices.
>>
>>83089178
Thank you Trump for saving us from agricultural workers "festering" as they pick the food we eat
>>
>>83089258
Uhhh how?
>>83089266
What? It obviously has had an impact, but it's all purely negative. The economy is drastically worse now. It's been used as an excuse to deport/detain immigrant students who criticized Israel. They can legally detain you even if you're a native-born citizen and get you fired from your job as they waste days of your time. Labor shortages of jobs native-born Americans don't want to do.
>less people = better economy
Take any econ class.
>>
>>83089326
The black death destabilized feudal society and contributed to the Renaissance. In every period where there was a sharp decline in population, wages rose dramatically and the survivors made a much better world.

The 2nd world war pulverized Europe and it emerged better than it possibly could have without it.

>less people = better economy
Forest fire = new, better growth

>Labor shortages of jobs native-born Americans don't want to do.
Because the prevailing wage is $3 an hour, thanks to cheap foreign workers. Make it $30 and plenty of Americans will want to do it.

>The economy is drastically worse now.
ISM has been in contraction since '22. We're entering year 5 of the worst economic contraction since the 1930s.
>>
>>83089422
What would have happened to European society if the black death had struck heavily on crucial sectors like agriculture and construction rather than hitting mostly evenly across all classes? Especially if it was also wielded as a political tool by self-interested elites? That's a terrible analogy. The US government isn't indifferent to human affairs like yersinia pestes is.

>The 2nd world war pulverized Europe and it emerged better than it possibly could have without it.
Care to elaborate? Because I've never heard this take before. Rome and Paris were spared from destruction and they're amazing historical places people come from all over to visit.

>Forest fire = new, better growth
The word "better" is dependent upon subjective human values and doesn't enter into ecology. Forest fires change ecosystems and give different species opportunities to recolonize the gaps they create. Is fireweed "better" than a douglas fir? Are nurse logs a "worse" form of forest regeneration than secondary succession? What does that even mean?

Well I'll tell you one thing: humans love to marvel at old-growth trees and don't care about fireweed.

>Make it $30 and plenty of Americans will want to do it.
Holy shit. You're out of touch. I make that much right now, and I sure as hell wouldn't do jobs like those for this wage. Try making that pitch to voters and see what reaction you get.
>>
>>83089492
I like you. Unfortunately I don't have time to continue in great detail this morning, maybe we'll see each other in another thread.

>Try making that pitch to voters and see what reaction you get.
Most political revolutions have been driven by a small, motivated minority. (Vanguardism.) MAGA was reaching the point where the electorate did not matter, but they seem committed to blowing the project up. We'll see.
>>
>>83089258
May I see it?
>>83089422
>Make it $30 and plenty of Americans will want to do it.
No they won't. The pencil pushers above me make 30 an hour right now and they consider it too low for the 0 real work they do. 100 an hour with scheduled hourly breaks and MAYBE the average american would be willing do manual labor. Me I do it for 18.85 an hour baybee.
t. out in the sun working daily (something you would never ever do)

is this really a reality in the us?
you just go out for a walk and see some maked dudes chasing random people while the government is "shut down", what does that even mean? but many of them still have to slave away

weird
>>
>>83088988
I mean if i have to see niggers when i go outside why shouldn't you have to deal with a bit of misery too?
>>
>>83089594
Yes actually. This happened a while back but my sister showed me videos of ICE detaining some illegals who were building (college) student housing in jacksonville and it was pretty funny. I wonder if that student housing is done yet kek. I've seen a few vans getting pulled over on my way to work as well.
>>
>>83089293
Sorry but this doesn't go far enough. They need to round up everybody who has immigrated since the immigration reform act of 1965 and deport them too and also any of their descendents. Send them all back.
>>
>>83089662
You pay like $25k/yr in tuition and they can't fucking hire legal liscensed contractors to build dorms?
>>
>>83089662
it's really turning into a third world country
It funny to me that the people who are the loudest against gooberment control are supporting it the most

So true, I'm so happy that the agricultural sector is made up mostly of slave labor that only benefits the wealthiest of corporate landowners, SO true!!
