Why do normgrels spend so much money on stupid shit like this? I gave my wife a $160 from walmart.
>>
I will tell any foid straight up that I will not buy her any ring and to not expect any kind of wedding.
>>
>>83093107
Women are no different from magpies, there is a reason why women weren't allowed to have bank accounts, it wasn't oh no heckin gotta oppress le women, women are literally awful at handling money
>>
>but not for the reason you'd think
>>
>>83093107
Hell yeah dude, my wife picked out a $180 ring for herself from an etsy jeweler and I ordered it for her.
We spent $500 on our wedding, made all the food and the cake ourselves.
Pure goy brainwashing to spend a ton of money on either thing.
>>
>>83093163
you got a keeper!!

seriously this ring shit was the reason two of my past relationships failed. i hated the feeling of spending that much and having my love for her being measured by how much i'd be willing to spend.

Girl 1 it was a big issue and i could see the disappointment when I didn't wanna get a $600 ring, which is actually in a relatively reasonable pricerange....

Girl 2 i never fought but went through the whole process of buying matching wedding bands and everything was deposited and it was gonna be a few grand in the end....
shit sucks when it didn't even work out. Lost the deposit and stuff and honestly i think it's just a financial sunk cost fallacy tactic to rope me in, making it ONE more reason not to abandon her as she got progressively more shitty and Bridzilla-esque the closer to the wedding we went
>>
>>83093191
My wife's ring was $3000 and I thought that was poorfag tier
>>
>>83093107
Everyone who partakes in engagement ring culture should be tortured through ring avulsion.
>>
I want a decent ring and a nice dress. I think people that virtue signal about how cheap their ring and wedding was are cheapskates in other areas of their life. I've been to a couple of miserly weddings and they were miserable experiences. I want to throw a party to show people that I appreciate them coming to celebrate me
>>
>>83093130
Nigga you cant even taIk to girls
>>
Why do foids value the cost of a wedding ring so much anyway? Like bitch you're not the one buying it, shut the fuck up and put on this ringpop.
>>
>>83093107
my ring is 40euros
>t. former femcel
>>
>>83093261
Just through a cheeseburget picnic with stollen hotdogs and hamburgers and moon sugar
>>
>>83093107
If this is a deal breaker for women then it's pointless even if I tried or cared enough to try. I could be rich and still would not spend hundreds or thousands on a fucking pretty rock. These social rituals and women's fascination with really expensive jewelry and really expensive celebrations are super gay.
>>
>>83093107
I want to make a ring for my wife and I want her to do the same. I think it would be really fun and meaningful. Too bad I will never have a wife.
>>
>>83093333
Would you go with pipe cleaners or cutting a dry rigatoni and then gluing glitter onto it?
>>
>>83093268
You didn't need to make it personal...
>>
>>83093320
That's greasy anon
>>
>>83093339
No I mean making an actual ring out of gold or another material. I have machining experience and access to a machine shop so it's doable, if I can find a wife to give it to of course.
>>
>>83093261
cool you value family and social relationships and like parties too. i do not. i hate them all and do not like displaying wealth in any fashion
>>
>>83093261
>I want to throw a party to show people that I appreciate them coming to celebrate me
If they are celebrating you they should throw the party.
>>
If you can't go big with a symbol of everlasting commitment why bother
>>
>>83093549
Because it's a symbol. I want to give and receive actual, practical commitment, not a pointless waste of money that only even exists because it was memed into existence by a propaganda campaign.
>>
>>83093549
nothing says symbol of everlasting commitment like how much fiat you spend on it
>>
>>83093576
I like having nice things personally especially if I'm going to wear them everyday. I'll bet you wear plastic clothes that feel and look like shit.
>>
>>83093597
Comfortable clothes are not expensive nor made out of plastic. Do you wear expensive lingerie and 6-inch heels all the time?
>>
Imagine the absolute state of a relationship that falls apart because the engagement ring (an optional/obsolete social construct) is not of the approved brand.
>>
>>83093107
Nigga you have to remember your wedding is not your day, its her day
>>
>>83093485
That's not how it works they are guests and you are expected to feed them and show them a good time in appreciation for them sitting through your wedding ceremony
I don't get weddings without a bar or dancing or food... like why not just go to the fucking courthouse then? Even funerals have food
>>
>>83093597
vapid empty people like you are so boring
>>
>>83093597
This, there are some things worth the investment. A ring that you're supposed to wear for the rest of your life comfortably falls in this category.
>>
>>83093675
>A ring that you're supposed to wear for the rest of your life
*because of a propaganda campaign made by a jewelry company back when your great-grandma was still hot
>>
>>83093675
You're not wearing that thing for the rest of your life. Your relationship will fail. They always do.
>>
>>83093261
>>83093597
roleplaying as a normalfag
and also fucking working cus you remind me of my exes THANKS FOR RUINING MY DAY WITH YOUR BORING NORMAL LIFE
>>
>>83093669
You just don't care about your stuff. I've got 12 year old boots I resoled myself. My daily sweater is 100% wool with a ykk zipper. You probably eat goyslop too and don't know how to make anything that doesn't come in a bag or a box. Ideally I would like to buy a nice yuki or dream machine sewing machine and make all the clothes I wear myself. I like having fewer but nicer things that spark joy when I use them. Nothing makes me happier than throwing things away that are worthless shit and repairing things that are not.
>>
>>83093623
Define what you consider to be expensive. Would you consider a horsehide jacket to be expensive if it were $500?
>>
>>83094115
that's $500 you could just not spend on an item to adorn yourself with for status and flaunting wealth

idk why normal people even come in to spaces like this to take a stance

it's like the exact fundamental brain flaw that makes you covet shiny things. you love the feeling of superiority and every time that expensive fabric brushes your skin you are reminded that you think yourself better.
>>
>>83094194
It's not about status it's about horsehide which will last the rest of your life and then outlive you. Also a horsehide jacket is like $800 minimum. $500 will buy you fucking pigskin.
>>
My wife picked out a ring that was part of a set with the wedding band that are meant to be worn together. The diamond in it was a CZ stone. It cost me about $500 back in 2015. She was more than happy with it. Then my ring was another $300 made out of tungsten. I don't even wear it most of the time because it got caught in a ladder once and nearly degloved my finger. She got me a silicone one instead but I lost it and have never bothered to get a replacement. I figure the scar on my finger is symbol enough.
>>
>>83094115
>Would you consider a horsehide jacket to be expensive if it were $500?
Absolutely yes, leather is an annoying material to clean.
>>83094253
>will last the rest of your life and then outlive you
All the cheapskate hoodies I will go through in my life won't cost as much.
>>
>>83094396
>All the cheapskate hoodies I will go through in my life won't cost as much.
Who is the vapid consumerist now
>>
>>83094406
$20 hoodie lasts a decade+, has a soft and warm fleeced interior and can be mindlessly tossed into the washing machine whenever it gets dirty while leather requires autistic levels of care and expensive products to clean. Hoodie wins.
>>
>>83094435
Lasts a decade plus lmao. Brother the zippers break and they get pilled to shit and holes in them well before then. My current hoodie is a kirkland signature and has a ykk brass zipper. It is 40% plastic which I despise. That said a hoodie is not a jacket and is not used in the same way. The comparable piece to a leather jacket would be between a denim jacket. You could get a just as durible and long lasting denim jacket reasonably. Or you could go duck canvas. But in both cases it isn't water resistant and in denims case really isn't very wind resistant either. You could also consider a lined windbreaker like a harrington but now you've lost duribility.
>>
>>83094406
>vapid consumerist
no one called you a consumerist they called you vapid and empty, which you've proven again
>>
>>83094494
By enjoying materials and manufacturing? Next you'll say that a shitty harbor freight tool that strips is just as good as a snap on or a rogue starter guitar is just as good as a martin.
>>
>>83094486
>Lasts a decade plus lmao.
I have 3 no-name brand ones bought at literal supermarkets which are older than a decade, no holes. Two have a comfy fleeced interior and basically feel like zippable sweatshirts. I did have one which has getting holes and fraying on the sleeves so it just became a pajama hoodie until it vanished at some point. Even then, my mom can sew the holes free of charge.
>a hoodie is not a jacket and is not used in the same way
Nah, it's a random thing you throw on top of a shirt (or a sweater) for added warmth, very similar shit. One of them is kinda jackety in that it has a nylon layer on top I guess. Frugaltards are undefeatable, simple as.
>>
>>83094502
>a rogue starter guitar is just as good as a martin
Guitars actually do things though. Rings burn your money and increase your risk of serious finger injury on accidents.
>>
>>83094529
>fleeced interior
You mean plastic. My skin doesn't like plastic. It feels appalling to me and has since I was a child. Personally I would like my next hoodie when this one wears put to be made from a hemp-cotton blend for the duribility of hemp and not have to deal with the plastic feeling on my skin. Not to mention it leaches pthalates into your body and disrupts your endocrine system. Sewing things back together is good. I have cotton night shorts that I freeball in and I've had to sew holes in the crotch back together many times. I do not own a leather jacket though I would enjoy one, specifically a horsehide a2 in brown. My last purchase over $100 was a 9070xt. I just have this pendleton canvas jacket. I paid ~$130 for it on spring clearance. Then I have a pendleton wool cardigan that I paid ~$130 for during the same clearance. Then I have the kirkland hoodie and thats all I wear. However, if I were making like $100k/yr I would buy the horsehide a2, I would buy some iron heart jeans, and I would buy more tools, specifically sewing machines, a router, belt sander, table saw, lathe, table grinder, circular saw, bench saw, pocket jigs, and a planer. Maybe also a cnc router since I know solid works. I would also buy better leatherworking tools than I currently have and some better bevel stamps and swivel knife, better skiver. And then chemicals for all this, wood stains, leather dyes, resolene, eurothane, etc. It would also be very cool to make a deerhide jacket from deer I shoot but I've looked into the tanning process and it's a fucking nightmare.
>>
>>83094545
My ring is tungsten cobalt and cost a couple hundred. It has laser etched tree branches on it. Which reminds me I also would like a laser engraver.
>>
>>83093107
if hes not financially struggling, the value of the ring is kinda reflective of how much value he sees in you. id only expect him to spend as much on me as id be willing to spend on him in other aspects, id buy him stuff all the time if i rlly loved him so id hope hed want to at least go out for marriage/engagement which is a one time thing
>>
>>83093333
this is cuter than buying one honestly
>>
Please remember, an engagement ring is technically a contract. If the marriage fails to occur or results in divorce YOU GET THE RING BACK. They HAVE to give you the ring back and if they don't, you can take them to small claims court and force them to return the ring or pay you what you spent on it.
Yes, really.
>>
>>83094859
that's exactly my point. you would spend many hours working on it and make it just for your partner. it would hold more meaning than any store bought ring. It might not be as expensive, but it's not about money, it's about sending a message.
>>
>>83094968
Nice try Sauron we know you just want to trick her with the ring of power.

The reason women care about the rings is because they fear being seen as "low class" by others. It's just classic human social posturing. The more expensive the ring = the more it signals to other women that she's landed a high class man.

I take it none of you guys have been around women when they compare their lives/marriages/kids? It's especially insufferable in a competitive environment, like office work. They ask to see each other's wedding rings and then compare them, and do that fake fawning stuff before showing off their own. You know what I'm talking about if you've seen it. It's kinda like the business card scene from American Psycho. If the woman got a cheap ring from her husband, she will be looked down upon by the other women. And as we all know, this feels like death to a woman, because social acceptance is the most important thiing in the world to them.

I'm so glad I am a man. We just get plain gold rings and don't give a shit or have to worry about this faggotry.

Who buys the ring for the man when you get married? Does the wife buy her man a ring? How does it work?

No the man buys both the rings because nobody actually loves the man.
The only thing that matters is how big your wallet is.
