Wash, sand, scribe panels/add 3d details, disasssemble/rebuild multiple times, fine tune alignment, prime, test joints for scratching, modify if required, primary colour coat or metallic, clearcoat, decals and detailing clearcoat again... A lot of kits need modifying/scratchbuilding new mechanisms if you want to close seamlines but still be able to dismantle them... Scratch build inner details, greeble it up, kitbash, add in leds, build dioramas... you can easily spend 200 hours on one kit if you want.
