I'm half a year clean from nicotine, but I still think about it every day, even more so when I drink. Lately, my depression has gotten so bad I've started thinking "if I want to die anyway, why not get back on nicotine and at least enjoy my time until then?". The other half of me is hesitant to start again because quitting was pretty terrible, and I'd rather not do it again..

Any thoughts? I am thinking when I go back to Japan, there's absolutely 0 chance I stay clean there.

Snus (aka zyn) or what? You dont sound like a smoker.

But I hear you, it's crazy.
Having been truly addicted to a few things in my life, nic is actually a lot more habit-forming than it is addictive. But damn does the habit sit deep. Quitting nicotine for 1 day is no problem, a week is still easy, but after one week it gets bad, it feels like a hole in my heart and it only seems to get worse with time.

Part of it is probably how socially accepted it is, but other than that I haven't seen any explanation for why it is like this.

I've been smoking after a three month break. I'm gonna stop Friday again tho. Too poor and tired

Zyn and disposable vapes. Mostly zyn though. I would only vape when drinking.

Same. I think the only things you can do is remember that if you go back to it, it won't even really feel good, and budgeting yourself something else nice from some of the money saved.

Dude just Vape. I tortured myself for a year after quitting it only to give in and Vape again and it's fuckin epic.

No one bats an eye if you have a drink everyday, or tea or coffee or chocolate, or go to the gym every day etc. This idea of demonising nicotine is stupid.

You know what's funny? This is my 4th time quitting too. Each time gets easier, but remembering how good it felt when I would hold off for 8 hours then get a crazy buzz after my first beer was awesome. I also work nights and would love to go outside and vape for a few minutes.

It's not. It barely even feels good after a break. After 4 hours it's back to normal.
>I would hold off for 8 hours then get a crazy buzz after my first beer was awesome
Sounds like it's the beer and relaxing situation though.

Quitting alcohol is delirious, shaky and anxious for a few days, but soon gets better, you start feeling calm, health issues clear up, you get energy to be productive...
When you start after a break, it's a good buzz with even small amounts that won't make you sick or addicted for at least a week.

Kratom/opiods take a lot longer to get through withdrawals, it's bad for at least a week, and starting again is good for 3 days max then you're at full tolerance again.

Honestly something that helped me quit smoking was just going outside and taking deep breaths and chilling for a few minutes every few hours without smoking. Works better than you think

Guys I'm really struggling. I'm drunk and imaging myself being in Japan and some of my fond memories there were hitting my vape outside the hotel. I want it again. I want nicotine again. All my fucking friends do it. They always do it in front of me. Really, why am I torturing myself? I have a shit fucking life anyway. What's the harm in making it just a little bit better? And seriously, when I do my study abroad in Japan for 2 quarters later this year, I really will start again.

Me, I never touched anything besides alcohol and even that I never made a habit. It's an obvious trap, so just don't go there, d'uh. Why do you retards even fall for it?

Starting nicotine was pretty stupid but understandable being young and such. Your logic is perfectly sound for wanting to start again. But if you're still young you shouldn't assume life will always feel this shitty. You should probably wait until you're 30 before making such judgements. By that point a lot of things are set in stone and you won't really feel guilty for smoking as much anymore. Just imo
