What I had in mind was for studios to use paint or powder to make the woman modelling look marble white so that photographer can use color photography to capture the natural lighting and colors of background. If we're limited to using black and white cameras, I think we're losing more than we're gaining. While the woman's poses may be based on the statues of classical antiquity, the color palette and image quality would hopefully be by all counts modern.
