Is getting a masters in math from University of Bonn worth it?
>>
>>16541593
As far as I know it ranks very highly with regards to mathematics
>>
Yes absolutely. If can't get into Paris or are too poor to afford any of the Anglo unis it's literally the best value prestigious math program.
>>
>>16541629
I was checking out their programme and I like the curriculum, it is in English so that's a plus
> Anglo unis
I am thinking of applying at Cambridge but desu I don't like how their curriculum is designed, the part III isn't exactly a masters programme.
> paris
which college are you talking about specifically ?
Note that I am not proficient in French, also Paris just like London is not safe.
>>
>>16541641
>which college are you talking about specifically ?
I give you a hint: check out which university grad won fields medals in the last 30 years.

>Note that I am not proficient in French, also Paris just like London is not safe.
It's safer than whatever third world shithole you are from. Maybe you should stay away from maths since basic statistics don't seem to be your strong suit.
>>
>>16541643
> It's safer than whatever third world shithole you are from
It's literally not.
Infact I just checked on numbeo, paris has more than double the rate of violent crime than the city I live in.
https://www.numbeo.com/crime/
I may be from a poor turd world country, but we don't have violent muslims rioting here.
>>
>>16541647
>registered crime = actual crime

NGMI
>>
>>16541643
Are you talking about École normale supérieure?
>>
>>16541661
No I am talking about IHÉS/Paris-Sud/Paris-Saclay. The single most Fields medal winning graudate school.
>>
>>16541661
I can't understand that academic structure desu
I am already enrolled in a undergraduate programme, top one in my country btw.
>>
>>16541670
>I can't understand that academic structure desu

IHÉS is a formerly independent graduate school, now graduate program that merged togetther with other universities (among others the University of Paris Sud) into a single entity called The University of Paris-Saclay.

>top one in my country btw.
How many Fields medal winners has this program produced so far?
>>
>>16541665
> The single most Fields medal winning graudate school
Idk man I just saw the fields medals list on wikipedia didn't find that name there, University of Cambridge and Institute of Advanced study were the most recurring.
Also I don't think number of fields medal alone is the best metric to judge graduate schools.
I will be honest, I don't think I am a fields medal material myself, atleast I don't feel like it right now.
I do like math - and I did make it to top math programme in my college, but I am mostly motivated by curiosity of learning new things at the moment, I am not even sure about the whole academia thing long term, this is why I am searching about masters programme instead of PhD.
>>
>>16541692
Are you fucking blind? There are 13 hits for IHÉS on that wikipedia article, 3 for Paris-Sud, together 16 Fields Medal winners.

>Also I don't think number of fields medal alone is the best metric to judge graduate schools.
Well you are an idiot who apparently can't read and should just continue with some shitty low level math graduate school and spend the rest of your life being a medicore high school maths teacher and stop wasting my time.
>>
>>16541692
Don't worry with this attitude you'll never win one.
>>
>>16541678
> How many Fields medal winners has this program produced so far?
None
It's top in my country dude, it has its share of achievements though, and has produced researchers who went to one to do great work abroad.
Apart from that great researchers like Sir Ronald Fischer and Andrey kolmogorov have visited and taught at my college back in the day.
>>
>>16541731
>and has produced researchers who went to one to do great work abroad.

Exactly, so stop wasting your time on this shitty website, download duolingo/assimil for French and German check the entry requirements and application deadlines for Cambridge/Bonn/Paris and start applying as soon as applications open. The clock is ticking.
>>
>>16541710
> just continue with some shitty low level math graduate
Do University of Cambridge and Bonn have shitty low level math graduate programs?
I didn't know much about France and it's colleges man.
>>
>>16541715
If I had better guidance early on, I would have done much better.
Living in turd world has its consequences Infact my parents wanted me to study Engineering, I personally wanted to study Computer Engineering I was curious about how the electronic machinery worked but that didn't work out for me, there weren't good undergrad programs in that field here anyway.
I started liking math and problem solving while preparing for Engineering entrance exams lol.
Now when I think about I should have given the olympiad, but I didn't have any information about it.
Covid fucked a lot of things for me.
>>
>>16541678
>How many Fields medal winners has this program produced so far?
Anon, you will never win a Fields medal, no matter who your peers are. So it's a completely irrelevant metric.
Get off you high horse you dipshit.
>>
>>16541665
>>16541710
Dude IHES doesn't have any degree programs, it just invites researchers to do work there.
>>
Basically IHES is French version of Institute of Advanced study.
>>
>>16541771
IHES is part of Paris-Saclay now.
>>
>>16541833
Yeah but still it doesn't have any degree programs
>>
>>16541665
Grandes écoles are the worst part of the French system. They suck up all the credits and produce heaps of unsufferably arrogant persons - with the exceptional truly gifted and humble guy
>>
>>16541593
Good morning saar. Please do the needful.

Do Anglo unis have no scholarships?
>>
>>16543605
>Anglo scholarship
>Tuition is 50kUSD/semester
>Congrats you won a scholarship
>Tuition is now 25kUSD/Semester
>Bonn University fee: ~160USD/semester

lol, lmao
>>
>>16543728
Yup you are right, plus I hate pakis anyway
>>
bonn is probably good, I had a prof who did his phd there. the guy is fucking nuts though
>>
>>16545885
>the guy is fucking nuts though
why?
>>
>>16545975
not gonna dox myself but if you knew him then maybe you'd agree
>>
Is the application period past due? I hate my life and I need to get away from my dependent girlfriend
>>
yeah, it's the BONN
>>
>>16541661
French universities be like
>Super normal university
>>
>>16546918
what does that even represent?
Like does it have any other non literal meaning?
>>
>>16546994
It's literally what it sounds like. The funny thing is it's one of the best schools in France.
>>
>>16542654
I did, but I went to a more prestigious institution afterwards
>>
>>16541629
grand ecoles are a nightmare to get into as a foreigner though. what other universities in the are well regarded in math/physics/engineering, without possibly making you jump through a bazillion hoops.

I am under the impression that UvA is good for math and physics, while tu munchen and tu delft are the best if not among the best for engineering degrees
