But within this 2 axis system, it doesn't factor for that, so it doesn't make sense to say you're culturally on one side of the economic axis. Of course, in the real world, this is all just references to old French politics, where the left referred to a push for equality and revolution/progress, and the right referred to a push for hierarchy and tradition. But in the world of the political compass, ideologies like conservative socialism and Christian socialism are AuthLeft. Of course, there's the obvious problem of lacking a cultural axis, since an authoritarian progressive and a conservative socialist would enforce completely different social values, while showing up in the same area on the compass.
