The last time Cousins played the Chiefs:
>4th and long down by one score
>Addison gets mugged by Sneed before the ball arrives
>no flag
>Sneed takes off his helmet on the field to taunt
>ref tells him to put his helmet back on instead of throwing a flag like they did to DJ Moore
>BONUS: queeftard posts pic related (though they seemed to have changed their mind on the topic since then, for some reason)
But the refs actually hate them because they have numbers, ignoring that there are dozens of incidents like this that appear in no stat sheets.

Yeah as long as you invent copes about Rice and Kelce we have fewer options that's true. Rice isn't getting banned any time soon if at all this season and Kelce is still Kelce, keep crying.
We have Rice, Worthy, and Kelce as the big 3. Then there's Noah Gray and Kelce's heir, Jared Wiley, who are also getting snaps and playing well. There is also Juju, we'll have to see what he has left, and Justin Watson. Perine is a receiving back, we got him to replace Jerrick Mckninnon. Somehow I think the pass game will survive without Pacheco.

Tyreek won the trade and is now living rent free in Brett Veach's head. Veach drafted Mecole Hardman instead of DK Metcalf because he wanted to recreate the speed of Tyreek. Mecole was a bust. He then signed Hollywood Brown because he wanted to recreate the magic of Tyreek. He was bust. He then signed Xavier Worthy who is on bust watch after his no-show last week.

Getting rid of Tyreek was dumb. Yeah you got a bunch of defense players but the Chiefs are good at drafting and developing at that position. Meanwhile, they've been historically bad at the WR position and they finally got an elite one and traded him away. Also, when are we going to begin the fire Matt Nagy talks. Look at how shitty the offense has looked under him. It was really the defense and Butker's leg that won us a ring last season.

>Getting rid of Tyreek was dumb
Anon, we're on the verge of 3peating. Let's assume Veach knows better than you
>>

Chiefs offensive coordinator didn't decide shit, because Andy Reid schemes the offense. Chiefs decided to run more because Pacheco has proven himself as a 2x superbowl winning workhorse, and they have high faith in Steele as the one two punch fullback. They couldn't do this in previous years because of the fact CEH was useless to move the chains.

The Bengals defense mind you had no answers for this
>Getting rid of Tyreek was dumb.

Reid has said multiple times that he does not call plays. He just writes them and allows the OC to do the work. Matt Nagy was the coordinator during Alex Smith's time and he's managed to turn Mahomes into Alex Smith lite. He's overly cautious compared to Eric Beienmy. Fire Nagy.

I actually really do not like the Nagy situation, NTA you replied to, but Nagy is unhireable as a headcoach after his stint in Chicago. Is he has bad as his stint in Chicago looked? It's Chicago I'm willing to bet the entire organization worked against him, but it means that nobody is just going to take Matt Nagy from the Chiefs as their next HC.

It's what blessed us with Steve Spagnuolo as DC for the tenure of the entire Dynasty and to still have him after last years historic defensive superbowl run, but it might curse us with Nagy.

There are more rings in this dynasty without Tyreek than there is Tyreek.
Tyreek however left his immediate impact on the rest of the dynasty for the picks KC received in exchange for Tyreek.

Really only Trent McDuffie ended up paying off, but paid off huge it did. Could not have won the Super Bowl without the duo McDuffie Sneed, and McDuffie this year is having a better outing so far than Sneed in Tennessee.

Most teams don't get that level of return for their FA WRs.

>Really only Trent McDuffie ended up paying off, but paid off huge it did. Could not have won the Super Bowl without the duo McDuffie Sneed, and McDuffie this year is having a better outing so far than Sneed in Tennessee.
I 100% disagree. They had to rely on their defense because their offense was so bad without Tyreek. Also, they seem to be really good at drafting and developing corners. The one area they struggle with is WRs.

He won COTY on the Bears, got fired mainly because he couldn't win with Trubisky, then went to the Chiefs where he will have collected several rings. I don't think he's a good coach but he has have a LOT of clout to not be HC. Someone will hire him
>>144580451
Two things mainly. The first is that there is a lot less fire. Bienemy was an old school, get in your face and yell at you coach, which paired well with Andy being a fatherly Santa Claus. They were good cop bad cop. But Nagy is the same gentle father figure as Andy, and when something goes wrong he rubs your shoulders and is like, "Hey that's ok pal, just keep your head up and just keep working." So there's no bad guy anymore to whip guys into shape. This has been a massive culture shift.
The second thing is that the offense seems a lot more predictable. You can almost always tell when Andy himself intervenes and starts calling plays vs when it's Nagy calling obligatory runs/screens that everyone sees coming.

Fixed. The best ability is availability. He won't be there for the 2025 season. Or worse case scenario his trial finishes in December of this year and he gets banned for the playoffs which ends the 3peat.

>>144580566
>I 100% disagree. They had to rely on their defense because their offense was so bad without Tyreek.
They relied on their defense in 2023 and won two Super Bowl seasons in a row after drafting mcDuffie and trading away Tyreek.

Meanwhile, Mahomes in 2020, and 2021 with Tyreek could not get it done.
The immediate results and impact of McDuffie cannot be understated, and there is an argument he should've won MVP in SB LVIII.

Tyreek had more years than McDuffie in KC to make a dynasty and couldn't get it done.

Defenses across the league have gotten better working in space.
The game has evolved since the 2000s, and a lot of people who were used to football of that era are mistaken in their idea that offenses are suddenly shit because the players are trash, or the coaching is bad.

It's simply that defenses have finally adjusted to the pass heavy era of football, all the rule changes, and adjustments to how penalties got called IE the PI era of the early to mid 2010s.

Defenses are becoming the more dominant side of the ball right now. Not compared to the 80s or anything, but compared to what we were used to in the 2000s and 2010s. How long it lasts before the pendulum swings back again? Who knows.
>>
>>144580789
Sneed did most of the heavy lifting through the regular season and playoffs, taking on the teams WR1s like Chase and Tyreek. The best thing you could say about McDuffie is that the opposing QB would rather throw towards Sneed than towards him which says a lot.

Yeah that’s mostly bullshit. He says that to get his OCs head coaching opportunities. He has surrendered that to his OCs on occasion in games that really didn’t matter in order to give them tape to carry into an interview but Reid always has his mouth hidden behind the scorecard when it matters.
>Mahomes DoT going down
Cover 2 era, Kelce and Rice being midfield targets, MVS taking a shit, etc. It’s just how shit is now. The offense is very mid right now outside of Mahomes
who makes them amazing.
>>144580607
>Bienemy was an old school hardass
No he was a dumb asshole that nobody liked except Reid. We watched Mahomes and Kelce blow up on him for dumb shit like giving up on a drive before half when they were losing and had a chance to score. He sucked in Colorado, he sucked in KC, he sucked in Washington, and now he sucks at UCLA. He has never been good.
>Theres no bad guy
I’m sorry to burst your bubble but the “bad guy” just doesn’t really exist at the pro level anymore. Bill always just grumbled and talked shit, Grudens out, and Saleh has already been cucked by Rodgers. The organizations are simply so massive and talent so deep that shit just doesn’t really work any more. You’re never going to see Jimmy Johnson kicking a player off the practice field for having an asthma attack again. The carrot is the money. The stick is losing it. It’s that simple.
>The offense is a lot more predictable
It’s not. Reid always plays vanilla in the regular season against the loser teams and whips out some special plays against the elites then takes his foot off the gas and plays conservative to maintain the lead. We already see the end around by Worthy and Spags blitzing Burrow with a CB in a wacky rotation to seal the game. The Falcons game will be extremely vanilla. In the Bienemy tenure it got even dumber with the same four plays called over and over. Which is what he’s known for in college.

The “fire Nagy” shit started last season. Hes the OC. His job is to keep track of the snaps to keep the personnel fresh and bounce ideas off Andy while they’re drawing up plays. Bienemy is just a loser. He was a running back that played his ass off for Reid and followed orders. He simply brings nothing to the table. If you want to credit Bienemy with the Chiefs pre Cover 2 stalling all offenses league wide I’d point out Nagy should get credit for Alex Smiths last season in KC when he was also insanely good. If that were true then why didn’t he bench (insert an interior offensive lineman) in 2019? And Toney is just an infuriating case all around. He has all the talent you could ask for and absolutely no fucking discipline. You think Bienemy was going to fix that? Everyone blamed Embree but Bleymaier is still the passing game coordinator and did that job for years. His promotion is basically just a title change and resume builder. They weren't the best defense in the league last year and nowhere close to LOB. They turned up in the postseason but it was a four game stretch of good play. I'm saying something genuinely, institutionally great like LOB. We already have the Sherman to do it. So we should have kept building.

It was great last year. Still very good. Difference is other teams are catching up. 2025 draft class is retardedly good at defense though. Fucking sucks at WR.

passing defense* People underrate Chiefs 2023 defense because all their eyes were on the offense and Mahomes.

I do wish we kept Sneed though. Sneed and McDuffie just had insane chemistry in the backfield, look at webm. Sneed was the one who made the insane fumble, and McDuffie was ready to jump.
>>
>>144582412
Right which is where the small variations come in and using the old Patriots move of locking down the best WR that would take advantage of it and prolonging the play. I’ll say this it has to be markedly easier to be a DB and know where the weakness is.
>>
>>144582512
They overpaid that shithead Jawaan Taylor so they couldn't afford Sneed.
>>
>>144582488
Dude I’m looking at these fags and I’m telling you now this years offensive weapons won’t be half as good as last years. This was an absolutely stacked WR class. Look up guys like Domani Jackson who is one of those prep school fags that runs a 4.2…as a CB. He is probably a 3rd round pick. It’s fucking insanely good at defense. The OTs last year were ridiculous as well. This year is going to be great for the interior though.

The Chiefs D is playing at a higher level than how it looks. The Bengals and Ravens both went for it a lot of 4th down. Basically the best way to stop the chiefs d is to go for it on 4th down

Pundits will tell you it's 'shell' coverage, but it's more nuanced than that...
We've now hit the point where the pendulum swings back.

Football has (forever) had a natural cycle.
Offenses start to spread out; passing becomes more explosive.
Defenses adjust by putting lighter players on the field to match the space.
Offenses predictably run the ball.
Running the ball not only slows the game down but requires muscle.
Offenses shift to heavier personnel.

Light (Nickel) defenses are caught in the middle; they still have to defend the pass but are getting hammered in the run game.
The difference in this iteration is analytics.
The Spread Revolution has won, and we are not returning to the smashmouth days of the '90s and early '00s.
Football has become a space sport.
Still, offenses are utilizing their advanced knowledge of space to gain advantages in the run game.
You throw to score and run to win.

Defenses have become very skilled at eliminating explosive plays.
Quarters and split-field coverages have increasingly become popular the past 5-6 seasons in the NFL.
Teams can now cap verticals, eliminate free access throws, and force QBs to 'work.'
Offenses have countered by utilizing more TEs, FBs, and personnel groupings, which in turn force the defense to stay in Base structures.
This is why they run on Safeties this offseason.
It was a curious case in the evolution of football.

Defenses are also finding ways to create formations to counter QBs and OCs who love to pick from a highly curated list of plays to counter their personnel.
It used to be that you line up and play.
Now, what you see isn't necessarily what you get.
This is where we are today.
>>
>>144582764
In 2020, we saw the Fangio-adjacent system become popular.
The system runs most of their defense from a two-high shell and uses weak rotation Cover 3 and split-field coverages to mask intentions:
Using a two-high shell protects the defense from shot plays and forces the QB to work through their reads post-snap.
As play-action became popular, defenses shifted to a two-high shell for leverage and disguise.
The result was lower scoring
Fangio's influence on coverage has made it more difficult for QBs to disipher what they are getting.
The days of Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning sitting in static formations, reading the defense, and then attacking the space are gone.

Offenses are utilizing pre-snap motion to get defenses to show their cards.
This, in turn, lends itself to utilizing split-field structures that are 'even' and less affected by these quick motions.
The constant cat and mouse game has created the game we see right now.
Teams also are utilizing hybrid off-ball LBs to create different front structures without allowing the offense to get a bead on what they are doing on a down-to-down basis & the use of an extra Safety, matches the hybrid TEs on the field while still giving the defense the schematic flexibility to run Nickel:

We are transitioning from the NFL's Spread Era to its new iteration.
Offenses are not abandoning the pass but being more thoughtful about when to throw it.
This is still a QB-driven league, but OCs are quickly shifting to building robust run games to counter light defenses.

Baker says the word in the Bucs locker room is that Brady was like a little girl
"You hear some of the stories about if he didn't like a certain play call and he didn't like it throughout the week and they still call it in the game, there might have been a throwaway on purpose or throwing it at the running back or receiver's feet," Mayfield said. One thing I've noticed is that every QB drafted since like 2017 has listed other players over Tom Brady as players they either liked or modeled their game after. I've seen Josh Allen call Rodgers the best passer ever. Mahomes has said that he tries to model some of his game after Stafford like the side-arm throw. Trevor Lawrence said that Payton was one of his favorite QBs. No body can downplay the accomplishments of Brady but there are a lot of other quarterbacks who were individually better or gifted and rubbed off on young athlete who watched them.

Thirdly, 'favorite' != 'best'. Tom is not the type to put a QB in the top 5 after 1 year. It is obvious he has a particular fondness for CJ that is more apropos to the point, i.e., as someone who modeled his game off of himself.

I wouldn’t say it was overlooked it’s just dramatically more relevant now with the offensive shifts. As another anon pointed out teams are investing in big nasty RBs to take advantage of the light boxes and using high efficiency throws to beat it already. It’s just not as fun to watch and takes up more clock which is why there is less scoring but it still works. They’ve given up stopping an offense and now just slow them down. It’s all about efficiency and time management now and less about freak QB play. It was literally the only way to handle Mahomes, Allen, Stafford, Rodgers, etc. stranglehold on the league. Upside is that we’re probably going to see some increase in RB pay as a result.

Mahomes is going to ruin an entire generation of players. Those weird throwing angles is a side effect of his baseball background and him getting into football relatively late in life. Baseball trains players to repeat repetitive motions for hours and gives them good discipline. These young QBs aren't putting in the work, they want to look the part instead of being the part.

You conflated the definition of favorite and best. Your only response to this was "Stroud wasn't in his top 5!" I said that was a matter of course - why would someone with only 1 year under his belt be in TB's top 5? "Favorite" is a personal appellation, not an objective one. >Do you think Brady's favorite player would be a QB he doesn't even regard as top 5?
Yes, because there is a context undergirding all rankings, and because favorite and best are not conflatable terms. Here is some help for you:

I could accept your concession and completely end this discussion here, because I have proven myself to be incontrovertibly correct, but because I am a noble soul, out of a sense of noblesse oblige, I must ask - when I state "this is someone's favorite player," and I make this assessment based off of this very person's words, which I corroborated 5 times over, what impression is meant to be solicited if not a subjective one? Do you know what favorite means, bucko?

>I must ask - when I state "this is someone's favorite player," and I make this assessment based off of this very person's words
Brady never said this. You drew an incorrect conclusion based on a subjective impression that he "praises him a lot".
>what impression is meant to be solicited if not a subjective one
This is word salad. Please, please stop. You are so ridiculous

>You have not demonstrated this.
Brady has never said Stroud is his favorite player. Your only supporting evidence is your subjective impression that he "praises him more than other QBs." This is not quanitifiable and does not justify your claim.
>>
>>144585337
Can Harbaugh really stop that front 4 of the Steelers? They looks scarier than the offense.
>>
>>144585508
>Brady has never said Stroud is his favorite player
The clause that you did not understand already answers this. The claim is itself an assessment of a subject state - it was never "objective" - because Brady has not said anyone is his favorite player. To probe another person's mind for an opinion is necessarily impressionistic. That was the point of the very first post. It was completely lighthearted in tone.
>Your only supporting evidence is your subjective impression
This is *not* my subjective impression - these are the result of an agglomeration of all of Brady's words about CJ Stroud within the last year. You can DISAGREE that Tom Brady's words signify that CJ is his favorite, but you would have to DEMONSTRATE this with either a (1) similar analysis of Brady's words or (2) counter-examples of praise. As it stands, the most you can reduce my position to "CJ Stroud being Brady's favorite is merely a hypothesis," which is fine, but it has not been done, and no counter-hypothesis has been offered.

The other, significantly mentally challenged anon attempted to do something similar to this by conflating the definition of words - that's not going to cut it.

I broke down why you were wrong in every facet and even extended a helping hand in explaining where you could actually attack my position and remain logical.

I have led the horse to water but alas, he has failed to drink. I humbly accept your concession.
>>
You can say, "In my opinion, Stroud is Brady's favorite player." This would be a bad opinion, but you could have it and nobody could fault you until Brady himself clarified his position. What you can't say is, "Stroud is Brady's favorite player, you're all retarded if you disagree." Not only are you claiming a subjective opinion as objective reality but you are calling everyone else the retards while doing so. This is beyond a football error, this is certified dumbfuck activity. When anons respond explaining why you can't make that claim, you put on the fedora and start using the most impressive words you can to color increasingly vibrant demonstrations of just how beyond help you are. At this point I genuinely wonder if you should be online without a handler.

Sir, nobody is scared of you. We are tired of you. You are genuinely astonishingly stupid. This post >>144585644 is one of the most baffling things I've seen in months. At one point you claim your subjective interpretation is not subjective, but an objective calculation. This post is so impossibly retarded that if I were to do just how stupid it is justice, I would have to make a video essay. That is not an exaggeration. You have been stupid and deeply in error for over an hour. The reason you're still here seething about it against all comers isn't because you're secure in victory, it's because you're desperate to win a 4chan argument to feel less like a retarded loser. But you're so far from accomplishing that, that you haven't even managed an argument at all. It's my turn to let you know this is my last response. Good God

Joe Biden is sitting with his aides getting debriefed on the world news of the day. The news is rather mundane and unexciting, but one of his aides states that 3 Brazilian american football playersperished in a bus crash early this morning.
The President's reaction is pure shock and grief, he's shaking and can't control his emotions.
Tearfully looking over to the man who broke the news, he asks him, "How many is a Brazilian?"

First of all, it's ok for a team to do better than 12-5. Nobody knows why you think that's a hard cap.
Second, the Bills are not the best team in the AFC. I am facepalming right now.
Then one also sees that you have the Lions winning the NFC and understands you are an r/LakeErieBros redditor. Kill me.
This is before we even get to the notion of the fucking Seahawks finishing second in the NFC. With Geno Smith and a rookie coach. Ok.
This is pure trash. Almost a crime to post. Keep your opinions to yourself going forward.

media pays way more per hour for like a fraction of the effort.
coach is CEO level stress and hours for about 7 months a year during the important family months starting school and the holidays. meanwhile many of these studio guys barely watch games (look at their picks at the end of seasons) and coast as red zone watching cheerleaders who aren't even expected to do more than that because it's a kid entertainment level of production.
