Could have been Arsenal's greatest win since 2017 FA Cup final today. So close even with UAERefball

>>144611839
Arteta said in a press conference after Spurs that Timber and Calafiori are currently managing injuries, they are fit but they experience cramp, muscle fatigue, soreness after 70+ min
>>
You lot deserve this
>>
>>144611839
cala was fulfilling media duties afterwards, i doubt he's in any serious pain. he should be alright, timber I don't really know. he seems to switch off late in the games. could be possibly his injury recovery and just adjusting to the pace of the game
>>
>>144611941
>>144612039
As long as it's not too serious then hopefully it'll be fine. Still got four games to go before a break.
Also I don't really know what to think of Calafiori yet. The goal was obviously sublime but I don't think this was the perfect match to get an impression of him. He got beaten for the first goal and there seemed like a fair few miscommunications between him and other players but this is also his first proper game so that probably is why. Timber I'm not too worried about after the Spurs game other than him being physically fit.
>>
>>144612039
>seems to switch off late in the games.

feels like this is what cost us today. 97 min. we finally believed it was possible. tired heads and legs. they scored a nothing goal. just have to play to the whistle and remain focused.
>>
>>144612259
Timber was gone already by that point but it definitely was just fatigue that cost >us (ignoring Michael Oliver) imo. Defending for a whole half one man down against Man fucking City is going to take a hell of a toll mentally and physically.

Every year my enthusiasm for the season disappears quicker than the last. Every year I say "yeah I'd take a draw at City/Liverpool if you offered it to me" and then end up depressed with the draw. Feel like I don't get positive feelings out of this sport. I stopped watching F1 for similar reasons. I never want to be the kind of fan who roots for bad things to happen to the opposition. Feels like the kind of thing you can't take back. God, England is such a hole, spiritually speaking. The EPL is their most potent means of exporting British National Misery since the Lee Enfield Rifle. Maybe I'll try to watch Serie A or the Bundesliga for a bit and see if my issue is purely with PGMOL or if it's like this everywhere and I should just start scaling down my fandom generally. Pic unrelated. Got a laugh out of me.
>>
MLS getting booked before his debut was quite funny, definitely a future trivia question
>>

City media group are managing the story of the game well. Arsenal are now masters of the dark arts, City are the only team that tried to play football and Arteta is a classless crybaby.

>>

>then end up depressed with the draw.
That in itself should be seen as a positive though. I can understand why that would be disheartening but it's nice that people expect to actually win these games when a handful of seasons ago they were just 12 points gone. Give me a double digit negative goal difference as well and there will be no further questions. It was just a done deal.

I don’t know how Klopp lasted all those years being robbed by the bald fraud and 115 Charges FC. You could say that in 2022-23, we ran out of steam and we were never really gonna win the title unless City collapsed. However, last year we were robbed of several points by the referees which handed City the title, and this year we’ve been robbed of 4 points in 5 games already. This team deserves so much more.

Because they're coping. They were crying about Arsenal not coming to play football at the Etihad last season, so arsenal did this time. I genuinely think it might be impossible to beat City to a title. They just play on a different difficulty level than us. They’re playing on easy mode and we’re playing on Dante Must Die mode.
We have about 10 London derbies a year, historic rivalries with Liverpool and Man United, and the referees are out to get us. City get referee help and the only derby they play is against Man United, who care more about beating Arsenal and Liverpool than they do about beating City.

They are such a non-entity, you can’t fucking beat them. The only truly difficult matches they will have this season is when they come to the Emirates and Anfield.

Tbh footballers are paid enough money, the big clubs in particular should have enough squad depth to rotate appropriately and the medical staff should be keeping track of their players' health and fitness to avoid these sorts of serious injuries before they happen. So while I won't celebrate another player getting injured, I don't have any sympathy for the clubs involved. If we lost against Spurs or City, no-one would be giving us any sympathy about how we were missing Odegaard and Merino. The harsh reality is that injuries are part of the game, clubs and national teams should do a lot more to protect their players and players shouldn't cry about getting benched every so often.

Managed to get tickets for the match, although there's going to be some really heavy rain this week so I'm hoping it doesn't get postponed. Wimbledon were supposed to host Newcastle tomorrow but that's been postponed after their pitch has been fucked by the rain.
>>
>>144629930
Our second XI is actually good now so I expect us to compete on all fronts. In previous years, we didn't have the squad depth to make a fist of the cups.
>>
>>144630090
Not really about the quality but the fitness and stamina. I already feel like a bunch of these players have already been run into the ground we're only a few games into the season.

I came to the conclusion, that him and Havertz can both fit in the starting 11. Same as Trossard and Havertz in the last games, or Jesus and Havertz. Gyokeres is basically Jesus, but taller, stronger, faster, better finisher. He can play on the wing same way Jesus does.

Don't mind the Arteta stuff, don't mind the shit talking to Jesus but holy fuck how can one person be so buttblasted ?
Typical Poop reaction when the nice guy persona drops because things aren't going your way for once. City 'fans' and tards from other clubs defending that behavior are equally as scummy.

Also pls stop talking about being happy with a point at City away, this game deserved the full three points and getting outdone in the last minute, no matter with ten or elven players on the field, is the difference between a champion winning side and one who finishes second, again.
4 points dropped vs City where >we had them on the ropes and Brighton is unacceptable and will once again come back to haunt >us dearly near the end of the season.
>>
>>144630750
I heard a sound point that City players already knew at half-time that Rodri is out for the season, and this is the main reason for their butthurt + no one showed them replay and they probably thought Party floored him, and not the grass of Etihad that he stomped clumsily.
>>
>>144630783
players get injured all the time and even if Partey was responsible there was no ill intent so even if all of that is true there is no excuse for their behavior especially post game. Unless they are sneakly trying to manipulate the refs in giving them even more leeway.
Also find it very amusing that all of those tears are coming from a club that made yellow worthy tactical fouling the norm.

i just don't understand what their problem is
seriously why do they seethe so much against us? i think some of their players seriously dislike arteta and takes it out on the team. maybe they think he's a judas/used them as a training ground to destroy them? they should've just said that they were disappointed by the result and congratulated us on a draw and spun the whole "a draw is very good for them etc."
they are entitled brats and like another anon said, typical reaction when the nice guy persona drops. not a good look for haaland this game

Watched Sporting's last league game where Gyokeres scored 2. He's really Jesus 3.0. Imagine Jesus who's complete, and that's him. He gets the ball with his back to the goal, and then turns his defender 9/10 times. His burst is FAST, i'd say from static position he's faster than Martinelli, but full speed is probably lower. Also he definetly can work as LW, he moves to left channel very often. Will be interesting to see him against Gabriel and Saliba on november 26.

and yes, 07-08 was the season gallas had a tantrum, eduardo got his foot bent back like a paper clip and we drew 4 games when we just needed to win 2
>>
>>144634003
all we had to do back then was sign shay given for like 7 million.

but also, its so insane how Wenger didnt keep anyone past 2006. Campbell and Lauren won a FA cup in Portsmouth in 2008. A. Cole we all know club fucked up there. Vieira was always gonna leave so thats fair. Henry maybe he stays a bit more happy with some of the old guard, but moving him on wasnt the worst either. Pires was still good for Villarreal but the UCL soured Pires and he wanted to go. But keeping atleast Ljungberg was finished so that was fair. Bergkamp was old and retired.

Lauren and Campbell should have been kept. They were still good and they would have been smart signings due to still having ability, but also due to their leadership and personality. They would not have allowed Gallas stuff to happen even with a leg break.
Fergie kept Giggs, Neville, Scholes, Wes Brown and O'shea for ages and I believe it really helped Man United.

These old pics just reminded me I've been thinking of a theory lately: has the game become too serious in the last few years?
We might have been utter shit during the banter era but we were still mostly having fun. Both on and off the pitch and even in these threads, it didn't feel like a matter of life or death back then like it does now. Does anyone else feel it?
>>
>>144634415
People have just gotten more dramatic. That's it.
>>
>>144634415
It’s always gonna feel worse when you actually have something to lose. The real tragedy is that title races are no longer marathons. Last year we missed out on the title because we had one bad week in December. Going against City, you have to be perfect all the way through with no space for mistakes. They really ruined this league.
>>
Am I missing something? Why are people trying to claim that the Gabriel’s goal shouldn’t have counted? Is it illegal to stand next to a keeper?

Lmao, all these teams are shit at set pieces so they want our dominance at them to not count. It’s desperate and hilarious.
>>
we're going to be 1st due to rodri being ded, then city will get a points deduction or whatever, then we'll win the title but everyone will meme that it doesn't count because of city's deduction. i knew it would be like this the moment they said the outcome would be before the end of this season, i just didn't know for sure because rodri wasn't injured yet. i thought maybe we would win the league because of it, rather than get told it's a fake title (like some people do with liverpool's despite them being so far ahead when covid lockdown started)
>>
>>144634415
When you know there is nothing at stake and you are so far off the top then things tend to feel easier, also people started watching Arsenal on during different eras so they might have not been as jaded as they are now.
Doesn’t help that the whole world has basically gone to hell since covid with no betterment in sight.

It's illegal to block the goalkeeper from attempting to reach the ball if you aren't making an attempt to play the ball yourself, it's called obstruction. This will be clamped on big time now that Pep and co have called it out.
>>
>>144634415
i actually feel the complete opposite way. back then it felt like the club was hanging on by a thread and if we didn't get champions league we would be absolutely fucked for many years to come (which turned out to be true) so every single result mattered so so much. now i expect us to win most games, and if not, oh well city will rape the league anyway. 2022-23 was exciting though. but for me personally it still meant less than before because the game has had its soul ripped out of it, and because i have grown older (only 28 though) and no longer care about stuff like professional sports as much.
>>
>>144634589
because they have no clue, VAR checked it, ref panel checked it and they all said the same, keepers aren’t entitled to free space in their box, was there contact ? Sure but Ederson fell down like a sack of rice and it’s his teammate’s job to ensure that he has the space to come out and claim a cross.
It’s the same thing that Arsenal’s defenders and keeper heard for years, you gotta be stronger.
>>
>>144634656
Ederson was nowhere near the ball so you can’t call it obstruction. Also, how come this “rule” didn’t exist when players were pulling Ramsdale and Leno down in the box and the goals were being given against us?

We're unbeaten so far and have gotten through 3 of the toughest away matches we're going to have this season. All of this is despite losing our captain and one of our major midfield signings, and both the draws were arguably down to silly red cards rather than any serious systemic problems with our teams. The team have a lot of positives to take from getting through that tough period, before you even factor in Rodri's injury being a potential source of dropped points for City throughout the rest of the season.

>>
>>144645561
The whole idea of "signature celebration" is retarded on so many level I can't even.
>>
>>144645598
Honestly, the atmosphere might be a bit flatter than usual considering it's a midweek Carabao Cup fixture against relatively weak opposition. If you need to catch the Tube after the match, it might end up being quicker to walk to Finsbury Park or Highbury & Islington since the Arsenal station gets super busy when 60k fans are flooding out of the Emirates at once. Otherwise enjoy the match, and get a few drinks in at one of the surrounding pubs beforehand if you like.

The old Highbury Stadium is not too far from the Emirates if you're not a local and you wanted to check that out too. They've turned it into private flats so you can't usually go inside but they've kept the outside of the East Stand still intact if you want to see it from the outside.

another aspect of why more money has ruined football
everyone has to have a "brand", with their number, their celebration, social media etc. usually stuff like that was reserved for the real big players whose brands were amazing football
>>

It's £500k for a 1-bed flat.
>>

Isn’t Holloway station closed during Arsenal games?
>>
You now remember Walker poking Big Gab in the ribs just to be humiliated moments later.
>>
>>144644088
You need to stop thinking of De Bruyne as the player he was 5 years ago, he’s been in decline for a while and is basically a squad player right now similar to Modric. Rodri is the most important player for City and we have a clear example of how weak they are without him based on the results they had in the games he missed last season.

City are still the favorites to win the league, of course, but this is the biggest injury blow they could have had.
>>
>>144646427
Yes, because >we and the council are too cheap to pay to upgrade it. That's also the reason we won't expand the stadium, because we Holloway Road would need to handle the extra capacity.

>>144645598
Just enjoy. Go early to soak up the atmosphere around the stadium and nearby pubs or restaurants. Maybe buy something at the Armoury (help the club coffers). I never made a special deal out of going to games back in the day but it was always a special experience, even the games I attended that we lost.
>>
>tfw imaging winning the league at the end of the season and seeing an Arsenal player getting quoted saying “We knew we were winning the league when we saw them celebrate a draw at home against 10 men. A weak mentality.”
>>
>>144646508
I agree that it's Rodri, but it's almost 50/50 with Haaland. They brought back Gundogan, and they sold Alvarez. So without Rodri they can have a decent midfield, but if Haaland is out it's a makeshift fuckery with Foden centrally.
>>
City plays in League Cup in less than 3 hours by the way, doubt there will be even one PL starter in the squad, but can be a curious watch.

Raya is a MANLET. There is a hard cap on how good he can be. I loved Shay Given but he was never truly world class, same as Raya.
>>
>>144661200
I completely agree. But the Indian guy's whole shtick was that Ramsdale was infinitely better than Raya, which just wasn't true whatsoever. He tried mega coping that it was only because of the back four that Raya got clean sheets (while conveniently ignoring that whenever Ramsdale played with the same players, he'd still make stupid as fuck mistakes) but that pretty much got disproven as well by Raya being MOTM contender in every single goddamn game this season.
A taller Raya would be incredible and probably what the club is still looking for. Probably not as keenly right now because Raya is holding it together but he definitely can be upgraded, at least on paper.

Absolutely insane how Man City’s PR machine shifted the focus from Arsenal being robbed with a bullshit red card to “Arsenal are using dark arts”. That wasn’t even a particularly physical game and it didn’t have much time wasting. If you want to see real dark arts, look at Arsenal v Porto last season, or the murderball Newcastle played against Arsenal at Saint James Park last season.

Any “journalist” who’s bringing up the dark arts bullshit to distract from Michael Oliver being City’s 12th man is exposing themselves as a fraud taking oil money bribes.

I genuinely hope Man City’s entire squad die in a plane crash. This level of corruption in sport is soul crushing.

instead of being a full sterling pound, he's only a shilling
>>
Why the FUCK is Arteta playing Saka? Is he stupid?
>>
>>144663764
Oh yeah, it was Ow lad, my hand. Forgot Salah was his first name instead.

does jesus not have a tradwife or something? why has he become so allergic to scoring goals

>>

He's really good. He impressed me almost more than Nwaneri this summer.... Salah-Eddine is a beast
>>
Nwaneri looks ready. Checks all the boxes.
>>

>>
>>144663787
yeah but i'm saying calling him either of those is shit. calling him shilling is nothing to do with calling him less than a pound because sterling is not a pound, it's the overarching name for the denominations of sterling that you've mentioned there

someone really should take him aside and explain this cut is not working on ANYONE let alone him
>>
>>144663843
eh idk, seems like we're just playing way better because we're playing with more confidence and imposing ourself on them
just look how aggressive we're being compared to the atalanta game
>>
>>144663766
are rupees and lira actually weak currencies? i thought they had way more of those currencies in circulation but didn't really change much, indicating a solid consistent currency
i got no clue though
>>
>>144663881
Just overall movement, perfect weight he puts in his passes, how he protects the ball with his frame. Looks like 20+ yo senior player, not 17 yo.
>>
>>144663834
Might actually end up seeing him this season if injuries keep piling up
>>
>>144663866
now, using every single denomination of sterling in the same post makes it work, as it's taking the name sterling and mocking it by being absurdly literal (though including sterling at the end is not good)
this way, you haven't implied a misunderstanding of what sterling means
i'm not sure i can really describe the subtlety of what i'm getting at when i'm this tired. it just doesn't work
>>
sterling doing his best impression of anne frank
>>
>>144663913
i'm still not convinced
one positive thing about him I'll say though, is that he's never come on and I thought he played badly. To me he's just been consistently average, but I'm optimistic about him for sure.
>>
can Jesus and Sterlel pls score a goal to get their confidence up, we really need a few goals coming in, can’t rely on the occasional Kai goal and set pieces forever.
>>
>>144663943
Idk how you can watch Nwaneri and think he's been "average". He has better decision making than most professional top flight midfielders already
>>
>>144663956
No goals for them so Arteta can strong-arm Kroenke to get Gyokeres in january.

idk about rupees i just know india's a shithole and the exchange rate is fucked up

Nwaneri with the goal, MLS with the top tier pre-assist

I really thought that cunt score an own goal and ruined Nwaneri's moment
>>
sterling was a cheap, risk free loan so we have a body to play winger. yeah he's pretty shit but it doesn't matter much. obv we should have signed an actual winger for the long term but having him is better than nothing
and there he goes with an assist
