People overrate Bivol's defense because he shut down Canelo
He's never been in there with a guy as powerful as Beterbiev and he can be hit. It's not like other LHWs haven't tried to outbox him before. Once Beterbiev gets on the inside it's literally over. It's going to look like a non-retarded version of Haney vs Garcia

jaw-dropping analysis
>>
>>144623089
pretty sure that was just a handful of retarded brits.

If you had listened to ME you would have seen why you shouldn't have taken Dubois lightly and how this was actually a very dangerous fight for Joshua, but even many /box/ veterans predicted a Joshua win. I didn't outright make a prediction but I kept trying to remind people of when's the last time Joshua actually fought someone who could hit hard that wasn't the MMAndingo
>>
>>144624469
T-to be fair, I would have been on the right side of history too if I knew dubois dropped him in sparring!
>>
>>144624506
>sparring isn't the same as a real fight!
is what would be said if someone told you that, which is right, it's not the same. I don't even think you need to know that detail to know that AJ's chin is questionable. Who was the last guy that could hit hard and box? Oh right, it was the fat mexican who put him on his ass. But for some reason nobody wanted to give Dubois any credit before the fight. Hrgovic's lame and lazy, Miller don't mean shit, and so on. But they just didn't interpret the information right.
>>
>>144624525
I think that sparring fact is important since we know AJ doesn't adapt well. If Ruiz wasn't 100lbs heavier than the first time he beat AJ, do you think AJ would have still won? I don't think I would have instantly know dubois would have beaten him, but I would have liked to chew on it few a while
>But for some reason nobody wanted to give Dubois any credit
Lol I saw dubois getting hit by right hands all night against Hrgo and I instantly knew AJ would beat him. Ironically, AJ probably only landed one cross. Now dubois has my respect. I just hope it isn't too late and he ends fucking up
>>
>>144624563
>>Lol I saw dubois getting hit by right hands all night against Hrgo and I instantly knew AJ would beat him.
But who won the fucking fight retard?
He ate a LOT of punishment and still came out ahead and turned the fight in his favor. It doesn't speak highly of Dubois defensive capabilities, but it shows he has grit, determination, and durability. I know in the past he hasnt looked all that durable in the Joyce fight or the Lerena fight, but he proved it in the Hrgovic fight. Joshua can hit harder than Hrgovic most likely, but he's a glass cannon. Dubois ATE that shit and fired back and made AJ pay, and that's exactly what I said Dubois would do, and that's what he did.
>>
>>144624590
>But who won the fucking fight retard?
Retard, I'm calling myself retarded, retard. I'm trying to say I was misguided. I assumed since hrgo was landed crosses on dubois, the best crosser at HW would have no trouble landing on him
>>
>>144624613
AJ just can't stay afloat in a war. He gets sent to the canvas anytime he fights a guy with power that is willing to trade with him. Glass cannon. There's an alternate reality where he's on point and just lays into Dubois without getting hurt but it seems unlikely the more you think about it. He just wasn't very defensively responsible for some reason. But that's the thing with AJ. Everyone complained he was too cautious against Jermaine Franklin, too cautious in the Ruiz rematch, too cautious against Helenius, too cautious against Usyk. But really he boxed well in the Usyk fight, boxed well against Wallin. Part of the problem really was AJ's gameplan. His guard was all wrong for this fight, but he's had more responsible guard in the past so it's just weird. I'm not saying the people who thought AJ would win are retards, but way too many people just thought it'd be a guaranteed win and didn't see the vulnerabilities or where it could go wrong.
>>
>>144624655
>too cautious against Jermaine Franklin,... too cautious against Helenius
You know, if you remember in those fights, he was getting pieced up despite trying to box smart (it's been a while since I've seen those fights, but it's safe to assume he fought dubois the same way). I think Franklin even rocked him and we know Helenius gave him a bloody nose. In retrospect, the writing were on the wall. AJ just has zero defense. Idk what could have helped him against dubois besides going all in on brawling like he's known for
>>
>>144624691
>Idk what could have helped him against dubois besides going all in on brawling like he's known for
I missed the entire fight, but I did see the final flurry of punches AJ threw before he finally went down for the last time. You can tell at that point AJ kind of "sold out" and it was a desperation move, and before Dubois returned fire, AJ actually landed a few good punches, but he was in no position to absorb the damage coming back to him. Dubois just seemed to do a better job of controlling things with his jab, smart aggression with those looping shots. He proved himself the better boxer through and through.
>>
>>144624709
>You can tell at that point AJ kind of "sold out"
My thoughts exactly. Problem is, he stopped using his brain. After rocking dubois, if he had just played things a little slowly he wouldn't have gotten stopped. His corner might've even developed a plan for him to stop dubois, but that's easy to say now
>He proved himself the better boxer through and through.
This. I was surprised by dubois. I didn't think he was capable of calming himself after being rocked and looking to time a big counter through flurries. He did the same thing against Usyk, but usyk quickly caught on and slowed his ass down
>>

>>
>>144624764
When you've lost to Joyce, every fight is risky. When every fight is risky, none of them are.
>>
>>144624764
Yeah, I don't think Dubois cares about losing too much. I hope he accepts his role as the guy who will fight anyone anywhere regardless of the result and keep on fighting the guys no one else will. Autism truly is a gift
>yes im talking about you wahid
What? He literally fought Luis Garcia. What are you even talking about?
>>
>>144624786
the CHI torres should learn from him, tr is being waaaaaay to suave with him
>>
>>144624764
For the names he's gone up against and for how young he is it's pretty impressive. By the end of it he'll have nearly fought every top guy in his division I imagine.

>>144624786
>I hope he accepts his role as the guy who will fight anyone anywhere regardless of the result
His role may be even larger than that going forward. Yeah he was gifted his belt recently but soon guys like AJ, Fury, Usyk will retire and Dubois will be one of the last talents standing. With all of the experience he's accumulated he likely has a strong future as a champ but I also hope he continues to take tough fights regardless of his status. Right now it seems like he has a lot to prove, but that might not always be the case. He's hungry at the very least and clearly willing to work hard to get to where he wants.
>>
Lamant Roach is actually a very dangerous opponent for tank
>>
>>144624805
Yeah Torres is being brought up slow. He had a good opponent ahead of him, maybe a D+ fighter. I want to see more of those guys against him. He had to use his brain for a while there
>>144624807
Lol I can't imagine peanut brain dubois being considered a dangerous and respected champion, but that's what he's designed to be when the big 3 (plus wilder I guess) retire and the old heavyweights like Zhang and bakole return to the stone age. I love that autist nigga. Hope he does well
>>
>>144624807
I just hope that someone from his team will finally find a way to improve his defensive skills which are bad, even if hes got power its not a good idea to rely always on it because otherwise you will end up like wilder, im realistic I know he doesnt have the skills of usyk but at the very least he could take a look at zhang which despite being slow his defence aint that bad, if they somehow manage to improve that then he will really become the top hw once usyk retires
>>
>>144624845
Defense is definitely something his team needs to dial in on, and it's concerning he's fighting at this level this young taking as much punishment as he has been. He took so much damage in the Hrgovic fight it's insane. If he wants to preserve his health and his career they need to go back to the drawing board. I'm not sure why they haven't been focusing more on that, but I'm not really too familiar with who is coaching him for that matter.
>>
>>144624889
>I'm not sure why they haven't been focusing more on that
worst case scenario they are like wilders team in which they only want to rely on his power and not pay attention to the rest but it could also be the case in which they know they had to be agressive with both aj and hirgobitch because outboxing them was out of the question, still that shouldnt justify neglecting his defense

dubois kinda reminds me of the mong, another guy with power, engine and will to bang but his defense is shit. unlike dubois the mong seems to have better assimilation but that once again doesnt mean they should overlook his defense

Hindsight is 20/20. Dubois didn't look like much in the Hrgovich fight until he did. If he had been as slow to start with AJ he would have probably lost. Hrgovich probably beats AJ.

Dubois correctly assumed that he would have to start early to have a chance, because he's a ballsier fighter than AJ. AJ doesn't deal well with being in the pocket against someone who matches him in power. AJ is too cautious, but his defense isn't good enough. AJ should be a much riskier kind of fighter because he has the power to bail him out of having to learn defense, but he has to be the aggressor. Dywer is always talking about AJs supposed blessed left hook but he just doesn't throw it.

Dubois headbutts did affect Hrgovic but it’s disingenuous to say that’s the main reason he won that fight.

Now with AJ it’s even less true because the headbutts didnt cause any cuts and I doubt they hurt AJ to the point where he was more likely to go down. Dubois won that fight with well timed powerful blows, not ‘butts.

You don't understand how weight cutting works
Everyone rehydrates, it's very common for most fighters to be 10 or 15 pounds heavier than they were on the weigh in day. Even fighters who are 'small for their weight class' regain substantial amounts of mass after a weight cut. Unless they're Pacquiao at Welterweight levels of small, they absolutely need that rehydration period.
Tank is unlike 97% of fighters in that he's not actually cutting that much weight at 135, he honestly probably shouldn't be up there in the first place. The whole scheme he has is enforcing shortened rehydration periods on his opponents, who are usually all average boxers cutting upwards of ten pounds, leaving them physically drained and him completely fresh. You could argue it's underhanded, but they signed the contract knowing that was there, and it's basically the only way Tank can consistently fight guys who are substantially bigger than him.

Now you may ask if all of this is true, why does missing weight matter? Missing weight in the way Ryand did is frowned upon because you are essentially skipping on cutting those last few pounds of water weight, meaning in the ring you're likely to be fresher, sharper, stronger, and more energetic than your opponent. You just walked around the hardest and more grueling part of the weight cut and are fighting an opponent who's tank is half empty relative to yours. It leads to some of the most devastating beatdowns in boxing history

after rewatching the fight I think they keys for the dubois win were mainly 2 things
> dubois having faster hands
> the first knock down

dubiois had been more agressive in his last 2 fights but his pressure wasnt showing that much of volume, like he was wary of his opponents but with aj its obvious he never respected him, thats why he was willing to let his hands go at any single time, as for the 1st knockdown aj never recovered from that and the way he was rocked was pretty stupid from his part

aj only had 1 chance in round 5 but because he rushed for the ko he instead was the one who got stopped

I would like to see this version of dubois vs queen assuming she doesnt retire after getting btfo again by usyk

Look at the zero success Dubois had with every other body shot. He also was called out for it in his very next fight against fat baby Miller.
Feary would have to have dainty feather fists to not drop Usyk with the body shots he managed to land.
>>
Did Dubois demonstrate anything other than retard strength in that fight?
With AJs non-existent defense, Chisora could have done the same thing.

Let Dubois fight Zhang for title of weirdest head shape before Zhang dies of old age, then Dubois cant fight Parker for vacant belts after Usyk goes back down to cruiserweight. That way Zhang gets his chance at a title and Dubois can prove himself against a boxer who actually needs to use his head to fight.
>>
>>144640870
Rewatch the fight. Dubois gets warned by the ref for a low blow and he just laughs instead of apologising.
>>
>>144643284
>Did Dubois demonstrate anything other than retard strength in that fight?
Good jab which beat AJ's jab (which is decent). Dubois won the battle of the jabs before he went in and roughed AJ up. Jab was a problem. Dubois showed he has good aggression and can throw very dangerous blows on a short notice. Dubois has a tendency to lunge forward. He's a boxer-puncher. Zhang vs Dubois is definitely an interesting fight, would love to see it.
>>
>>144643314
>He's a boxer-puncher
Dubois is? Where are you getting the boxer part from?
>>
>>144643284
>Did Dubois demonstrate anything other than retard strength in that fight?
not much really, like I already said in one of my previous posts, he showed faster hands that aj but other than that he was the same as his previous fights
>>144643320
he isnt dubois is a pressure fighter
>>
>>144643320
>The boxer-puncher possesses many of the qualities of the out-boxer: hand speed, often an outstanding jab combination, and/or counter-punching skills, better defense and accuracy than a slugger, while possessing brawler-type power. The boxer-puncher may also be more willing to fight in an aggressive swarmer-style than an out-boxer. In general, the boxer-puncher lacks the mobility and defensive expertise of the out-boxer (exceptions include Sugar Ray Robinson and Freddie Steele.) They are the most unpredictable among all 4 boxing styles.

I would say Dubois leans more into the puncher side rather than the boxer side, but he has good jab, good hand speed, and is not a pure "swarmer" or brawler. Dubois does utilize counter punching, but he can shift into a more aggressive state. He is unpredictable in his offense. He's a weird hybrid fighter. Clearly he leans more into offense than defense but he possesses some of the traits of a pure boxer.
>>
>>144643339
I would consider him a brawler (if just calling him a puncher is cheating). If you watch his fight against AJ, he was squaring up to catch him, which I think led to AJ getting downed/rocked

>>
>>144643356
>>144643331
Yeah maybe boxer-puncher isn't the best classification for Dubois. I guess he leans more into the slugger/brawler side of things. I wouldn't say he's a pure pressure fighter/in-fighter as he's not really working around the clinch or throwing a ton of short punches nor using bobbing and weaving. Still, I just wanted to give credit to Dubois's jab because it's an educated jab. Every boxer has little quirks that make them unique, so these classifications are more just a general rule of thumb than the end all be all.
>>
>>144643399
Yeah he had a good jab that night and can fight off the back foot we'll enough. Wilder can get a ko off the ropes too, but not by using us brain like dubois did
>>
>>144643406
See that's what I mean. When you think of Wilder, he IS the classification of Brawler/Puncher/Slugger. But Dubois actually has decent technique and better boxing skills. You can tell they're actually working on different stuff in the gym. Dubois has smarter aggression coming forward. His jab is not just a rangefinder like Wilder's. It's a damage jab, and it's a very good jab. Wilder's jab is only there to set up the right hand, not actually damage his opponent, but Dubois's jab was actually fucking AJ up from the very first round, and AJ lost the battle of the jabs which set him up for that first knockdown. So if Wilder is the pure Brawler, Dubois is some kind of hybrid brawler/pressure fighter with an asterisk. If he could only work on his defense a bit he'd be a near unstoppable force I'd say.

The Boxer, Boxer Puncher, and Puncher archetypes are hard to classify sometimes. Idk where to put Loma or Usyk. Is Loma a puncher because he has power and goes forward the majority of the time? Is he a boxer puncher because he can fight going forward or backwards? What about usyk? He usually goes forward, but he has little power at heavyweight

We definitely have extreme examples of the three (Puncher: Beterbiev/Canelo, Boxer: Plant/Haney, Boxer Puncher: Crawford/Inoue) but sometimes guys are in the grey areas of these archetypes
>>
SIT ON HIM BILLY
>>
>>144640032
Shame what Feary has fallen to. At keast it's a fight he might win.
>>
>>144643479
>Idk where to put Loma or Usyk.
Usyk is considered a boxer puncher for the most part. You could both call them that although I'd say Loma is more of a counter-puncher which is sort of its own thing. Wilder you could say is less of a brawler and more of a "specialist", with his ONE punch being his signature damage dealing strategy, and he has a very specific way of setting it up. He went all in on one punch, so you can't even really call him a pure brawler because he doesn't really fight like that these days.

Boxer puncher is somebody like Usyk who can fight off the backfoot with good defense but also can flip the aggression on like a switch like you saw in the Fury or even Tony Bellew fight. Haney on the other hand would be more of a pure out-boxer, even if he's shown some ability to fight on the inside it's not really his strength. I'd call Ryan Garcia a "puncher", because he can't fight inside worth a shit so you can't really call him an inside fighter. Canelo, counter-puncher + pressure fighter.
>>
>>144643601
Also yeah the more that I think about it, Loma is a type of pressure-fighter counter puncher like Canelo, but he just has a different way of fighting inside with the lateral movement and repositioning himself. But lots of really tight, short punches, likes to be inside due to his size. Still a counter puncher though.

How the fuck is it an ok/meh win for either of them?
If Beterbiev can actually manage to beat Bivol that's a huge fucking win, especially given his age and knee. Now Bivol beating Beterbiev is maybe a little less impressive but that's still a giant win, arguably bigger than the Canelo win because Canelo never really had any business at 175 to begin with. Help me see your logic here

Thoughts on the bridgerweight division?
>>
>>144649985
>thats only 1 great fight and 1 ok/meh win for either of them
Bivol beat Canelo and Beterbiev beat prime Gvozdyk. And they both beat a binch of good contenders too.

excellent division because the gap between cruiserweight and the top end of heavyweight is massive
>>
Let's be honest, AJ's chances of winning the rematch are actually higher now. He's downloaded Dubois, now he just needs to fire his trainer
>>
>>144650649
You're only saying that because Jokolie is a "champ". If it were an American champ you'd be calling for the division to be closed lol
>>
>>144650522
the great fight/win would be becoming undisputed, when I said ok/meh I was talking about the other fights they had this year (smith and Malik Zinad), which shouldve been obvious if you took a look at what I said about usyk and inoue

>If Beterbiev can actually manage to beat Bivol that's a huge fucking win, especially given his age and knee. Now Bivol beating Beterbiev is maybe a little less impressive but that's still a giant win

I mostly agree with this I just wouldnt call it a giant win, I dont need to explain anything else because it was a misunderstanding from your part

my top 3 at the end of the year if betervbiev wins

usyk
beterbiev
inoue

if bivol wins

usyk
inoe
beterbiev

for me its pretty clear that uysk will be foty if he wins his next fight regardless of what of other guys do

yes? queen might not be super elite like some retards migh want you to believe but she still is a legit top 5 HW

usyk like beterbiev is the older guy in their fights but unlike bivol, queen is waaaay bigger the usyk and even though bivol is better boxer than queen will ever be we are talking about HWs
>>
>>144632551
AJ is nowhere near Fury in terms of boxing.
>>
>>144650755
So then why did Fury lose to the MMAndingo? I don't think Fury's as great as you think he is. And no I don't want to hear any excuses like 'he didn't try'. That's not "all-time great" material.
>but on paper Fury won that fight!
but we all know he lost that fight.
>>
>>144650743
Fair enough, I agree Fury is a top 5 HW. Most people here are extreme retards either thinking he's a complete bum or an all time great.

I think the manner in which the fights turn out has to play a part too. If one is close SD while the other is a complete domination, I'd give FOTY to whoever dishes out the domination.
>>

Not really true for Lennox

Watching some AJ in the Parker fight and AJ in the Dubois fight is crazy, it’s like 2 different people. Parker was the first guy to bring AJ to a decision, and even deep into the fight AJ had his chin tucked and his right hand up to guard his chin. He always held his guard a similar way, but his form has gotten so much worse. That good form helped AJ respond well when Parker would close the distance and try and brawl on the inside, while his much looser guard nowadays lets Dubois hit him with a haymaker from a mile away and land heavy jabs and counters at will. To be charitable to AJ, his offense seemed just fine when he threw straights and overhands, but his defense has just gotten so much worse.
>>
>>144653828
He also had a tight guard against Helenius. Idk what AJ was thinking against Dubios, and why he corner didn't tell him to fix his shit after the first KD
>>
Artur Beterbiev
>>
>>144653908
He was still with Derrick James then, so I watched some rounds of the Wallin fight again since that was the first with Davidson, and AJ was giving far more respect to Wallin’s power and had much better form there too. Either AJ was genuinely just that scrambled by that first round KD, or Davidson isn’t drilling defense and it took a few fights to catch up with AJ.
>>
>>144654166
I remember his guard being bad from the opening bell against Dubois. Maybe he was taking it easy and didn't expect Dubois to come out strong, but why didn't he adapt afterwards?

The media trying to blame boxercise ben is hilarious, "roll the dice innit bruv" was the best advice AJ could get since he was getting battered around the ring and another knockdown the ref probably would have just waved it off. Just like Haney before he suffered an embarrassing loss, AJ was just earning /box/'s respect. Underdogbros.... Why does this keep happening.....?
>>
>>144658465
>underdogbros
There's been a series of big upsets in the heavy division. Jared Canderson getting upset by Bakole, Joyce getting upset by Chisora, GayJ getting upset by Dubois, and even Dubois arguably "upset" Hrgovic. Usyk arguably upset Fury. It's the season of the underdogs.
>>
>>144653828
He was acting like he was still in the ring with Ngannou. Especially with that failed range check while just watching a swinging fist come at him. Who knows how limited Dubois was the last time AJ sparred with and felt like he was just too good for him. Maybe he thought he was the exact same now as then. Whatever the reason, right from the start it was the worst performance I've seen from him.

It makes no sense careerwise for Inoue to not wait for Nakatani. He's at the bottom stretch of his career and he needs money fights.
Inoue vs Nery sold out the Tokyo dome and Inoue vs Doheny did very well for itself. Inoue vs Nakatani would be the biggest fight possible for the Japanese audience, and it'll be the first real challenge for Inoue since he moved up to 122. I guarantee you it'll pull more domestic interest than anything at 127 could offer him, and it'll be the biggest pay day of his life. If he wins, he can retire after an honorable defeat to a fellow nip, if he wins he'd silence his critics saying he doesn't take hard fights, he'll be undisputably a GOAT of the sport and will be the most famous Japanese boxer ever.
He'd be stupid to not fight Nakatani. It's best for him and japanese boxing in general

hes not gonna silence his critics, specially the ones from this side of the world and you will always have people saying that he made kanatani move up and have him fight arguebly the #1 p4p for hist fight at a newer div, the fight will be huge in japan but and for him it will mean the biggest purse of his career but its not necessarily the best for boxing in general like you said, legacy wise its better to become a 3 times undisputed than beating another p4p jap and stay at 122

sure, he could achieve both but he would be risking one goal for the another

He's a boxercise coach/gym PT that Fury brought in to lose weight and have some banter with, people thought he was actually legit because of how good Fury naturally is.

Now Ben has his own coaching academy and trains quality fighters like Royston Barney-Smith and Aloys Junior. His grift is the stuff of legends.

Dubious reminds me of the boxer in Harlem Nights (the one with Eddie Murphy). I know he was based off Mike Tyson, but the character was like a cartoon character, and dubois looks and acts like a cartoon boxer

Fury lost to a middleweight and had his whole career shown up by AJ, who just got shown up by Dubois btw

You seem obsessed with nonces. Has someone molested you? A common way to cope with this is repeating behaviour. You should really try to get some help.

ben hired a youtuber lee wylie to do "film study" for his fighters because he DKSAB he is basically just a mouthpiece that repeats whatever lee wylie put on the video. ben davison is basically a youtube content creator's subscriber that holds pads. literally anyone that can watch a lee wylie video and hold pads can be ben davison. lee wylie has zero boxing experience btw literally just a random guy that had a youtube channel.

Didn't even finish it. I'm not a fan of these trailers. The zombie one was fine and u liked the premise of the 5v5 one, but the rest have been too movie-y. How are you going to play these on TV (or more realistic on phone ads) in 15 seconds or less while telling the viewer what's going on and why you should tune in?

Roy is 5'10 at best and moved up when he was an old man. Berlanga is 6'1 and still in his mid 20's or some shit. By the time he's 30 he'll be a full fledged HW like John Ruiz. Cutting weight beyond 175 doesn't have much to do with punching power. Guys that punch hard at 175 are gonna be able to KO heavyweights easily. Especially one as frail as Kekthony

MORRELL CONFIRMS BENAVIDEZ TALKS
>>
I'm expecting Fury to lose to Usyk and Usyk to retire and the belts to scatter. Frank easily sets up Fury/Dubois in house fight for 2025 Wembley. Joshua at this point has been cautiously rebuilding his career fighting 40 year old men again. Dubois beats Fury and Fury looks beatable enough to make Joshua/Fury seem competitive again and we get Joshua/Fury 2026 at Wembley and we will all pretend to care and Dubois eventually gets KO'ed by Jalolov. The end.

lmao that belt. Would be up to his chest if there wasn't a flab wrinkle in the way. An inch below the chest on a guy that tall, that belt much be at least a foot too high.
