How many points do you get per nutmeg?
>>
>>144645063
In my 5-a-side we say that if you get a nutmeg in the build-up to a goal, it makes the goal count for 2.
>>
>>144645063
5 black excellency points per United costumer and 2 Zidane comparison points per ex United pundit.
>>
It's blatantly obvious that they're just deliberately trying to start a forced rivalry between Man City and Arsenal. Everyone was bored of the whole mutual respect thing between Pep and Klopp/Arteta, so they deliberately told Michael Oliver to make a bunch of stupid decisions (that fucked both sides) in order to spice things up and now they're shilling it as the new Man U/Arsenal rivalry.
>>
Morgan Rogers will be a 100 milly player by the end of the season
>>
>>144645163
I agree. He is the new Ross Barkley
>>
>>144645125
feels very forced I give you that especially after the 0-0 draw at the Etihad last season could and should have sparked the same responses because Arsenal actually came with the intent to park the bus from minute one. This time their hand got basically forced. Anyone complaining about using every trick in the book against the best team in the league when you are down to ten men is just trolling.
>>
>>144645163
At least 1 club will offer £60m for Duran in January
>>
>>144645170
Except Arsenal were at those tactics from the off. Scoring a fluke blooter when the other team were out of position and a set piece where White and Shitvertz are allowed to barge the keeper at will doesn't change Arsenal's negative approach throughout.
>>
>>144645170
Even last season, there was a lot of outrage at how Arsenal were happy to play for a draw (even though a draw away to City was an excellent result for them at that point in the title race). It seems like Sky Sports wants their "blockbuster" heavyweight clash to be exciting, and they couldn't risk another semen slurper.
>>
>>144645184
give it a rest shitty, both goals were legit and got checked and discussed plenty of times now.

nobody cried about it when wolves beat city last season doing exactly the same thing. beat them with 3 shots on goal and 30% possession, and that was with 11 men on the pitch.

Everyone who wasn't a deluded Liverpool fan could see that they were eventually going to crash and burn last season, Klopp did really well to take the team as far as he did in his final season but their squad was objectively not good enough to compete with City or Arsenal that season with all the injuries they had.

the City draw was fine, losing to Villa at home when on this run of form while had won 1 of their last 5 is what cost Arsenal the title
>>
>>144645311
while *Villa* had won 1 of 5
>>
>>144645309
that's a lot of words for your own head canon mate, the reason people criticised it is because it wasn't viewed as an excellent result you thick cunt
>>
>>144645311
Great set of results still. Just can't afford an off-day when you're up against 130.
>>
>>144645311
It was mainly their poor form in the first half of the season that cost Arsenal, when they were insisting that Havertz was a midfielder. Arsenal may have been near-perfect since January, but City were near-perfect since December.
>>

the injuries weren't that bad desu, it was games like the palace one at anfield, city at home, arsenal at home or luton away where they missed sitters after sitters, and there were probably other similar games that i miss
>>
>>144645354
Well it's still an excellent result to stay ahead of City and deny them 2 points, regardless of what sort of mental gymnastics you want to do.
>>
>>144645368
>Well it's still an excellent result

no it isn't, that's why people criticised it, it's an OK result, you shouldn't set out to achieve an OK result and is certainly worthy of criticism if you do
>>
>>144645365
Yeah Liverpool have been extremely lucky with injuries for years.
>>
>>144645381
People were criticising it because the match was utterly dreadful to watch, not because the result was "OK" for Arsenal. But Arsenal (or any team for that matter) have absolutely no obligation to entertain neutrals, their only objective will be to get whatever result they deem necessary.
>>
>>144645397
ok so don't get rattled when all the neutrals rightly criticise your team then and say how shit they are to watch and how they play anti-football ala mourinho

>>
>>144645184
They were not though. Man City started brilliantly and would have pushed back any team. After 20 minutes Arsenal were very much into the game and won duels high up the pitch and keeping possession. The red card changed everything.

>>144645170
Pep also played very defensively last time they met. Barely moved the ball forward or flooded the area with people. It was a bore draw that both managers wanted.

it's a cope when big six customers use it because there aren't any proper anti football teams in the prem, at the very worst they are busparkers or hoofball shithousers like brentford but anti football is an actual thing, simeone is the perfect example, basically a combination of busparking, roughing up your opponents, organized diving, and time wasting
>>
>>144645922
I don't care when teams like sheffield united park the bus because they've spent about £2.50 on their squad but arsenal have spent like £800m on their squad and they're playing with the mindset of a shitty championship team
>>
>>144646095
there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing like that away from home versus good opponents. Arsenal scored like 90 goals plus last season, you can’t tell me the play ‘anti football’.
>>
>>144646061
They used to be like that during Wenger's latter years when they'd complain that Stoke and West Brom didn't let them play "muh beautiful football". Now they're actually good at defending, they are happy to do it all match. The point is that there's no right or wrong way to play football, all that matters is getting a result.

It's easy to take the moral high ground when your team ends up coming out on top more often than not. If Liverpool ended up winning 3 PLs and 3 CLs under Klopp instead of coming 2nd on 4/6 occasions, I'm sure they'd be a lot less bitter.
>>
>>144647079

what are they supposed to do when arsenal sit 10 men in the box who refuse to even attempt to challenge for the ball?
>>
>>144646911
Didn't Arteta do the exact same thing the following game or the game later?
That whole "dark arts" thing was some of the most bizarre cope of recent times. Acting like Eddie Howe invented timewasting and keeping the ball near the corner flag. Weirder that the whole media were in on it.
>>
>>144647286
they just need to start Duran and fill the rest with their academy players
>>
>>144647308
Give the ball to someone that can shoot outside the box instead of just passing it sideways to your CBs who can't do anything dangerous. Or move the ball out wide and stretch Arsenal's defense instead of trying to autistically walk the ball in through the middle.
>>
>>144647343
>Give the ball to someone that can shoot outside the box
insane they just decided not to even think to do that, even if it went outside, Arsenal going ultra defensive means they wouldn't be able to keep the possession for so long after Raya's goal kick.
>>
>>144647308
Shoot or dribble.
>>

at the very least dont say "spot on mate"
>>
>>144647343
>>144647368
yeah amazing just shoot through a wall of about 15 players in the box
they also had two players camped on each winger to stop crosses coming it
but the equaliser did eventually come from a cross so arsenal played like retards for 45 minutes for nothing
>>
>>144647437
>"I am not allowed to win trophies because that's not Spurs™ way"

>>
>>144647450

most of them hit a player in the box
>>
>>144647495
Yeah that means City are shit.
>>
>>144647450
>but the equaliser did eventually come from a cross
So you are admitting that going wide did help them break Arsenal down? Maybe if they tried that earlier then they might have made more opportunities to actually win the match.

>arsenal played like retards for 45 minutes for nothing
They got a draw away at their main title rivals, despite being down to 10 men for half the match and missing their captain and main creative player. That's not "nothing" by any stretch of the imagination. Even if they were dissapointed to concede a late equaliser, Arsenal would have been the happier of the two teams with that result (as evidenced by all the City players being so rattled after the final whistle).
>>
>>144647502
no it means that shooting into a wall of 15 players will usually not result in a goal
>>
>>144647450
So City are just shit?
>>
>>144647529

>>
>>144647528
I never denied that playing it wide was the right call
but arsenal had two players camped on the wide players for the whole of the second half
it took the genius of grealish to open them up one time
>>
>>144647536
if the same team that have won the PL 4 times in a row are shit then what does it make the other teams?
>>
>>144647546
no it means that arsenal sat 10 men right in front of the goal for 45 minutes and never even attempted to play football
also raya was playing out of his skin in the second half
city should easily have had at least 3 goals
>>

>>
>>144647552
Arsenal's game plan as soon as they went down to 10 men was blindingly obvious to everyone. Had Pep brought on Grealish earlier, he would have caused Arsenal a lot more problems throughout the match.
>>
>>144647605
yes because football is football
city should have scored 3-4 even with arsenal sitting in front of their goal but they were very unlucky in the end
just the way it goes
>>
>>144647625
it worked one time out of 10 and they still didn't win the match
9 times out of 10 city win that game
it's a retarded tactic from a retarded manager

>>
>>144647633

>>
>>144647646
I'm just saying it was pure luck that arsenal didn't lose
nothing to do with their tactics whatsoever
>>
>>144647651
no it means that arsenal got very lucky
not even trying to have a man sitting further up to release the ball to is 9 times out of 10 asking to lose
>>
>>144647656
>nothing to do with tactics
So if, after going down to 10 men, they had instead put all 9 outfield players in Man City's box and didn't budge, that would've also resulted in a draw? Fascinating stuff, Pep.
>>
>>144647608
If parking the bus was so easy, why do City batter every shit team that comes up against them and tries to defend?
>>
>>144647608
Defending is preventing the opposition team from scoring a goal.
>>
>>144647671
Idk man. You said Arsenal played like retards and City only got a draw at the very very very end of the game. Sounds like City were just lucky not to lose.
>>

city face mostly low blocks during the season
less so now that pep has started to change football for the better and more managers are trying to actually attack

it's possible they'll go full retard when not playing their 1st choice lineup as shown as when they played Servette, so I thought it's amusing Maresca didn't load the bench with at least some actual starting attackers (Jackson, Jsanchz, Madueke) if push comes to shove.

City went down to 10 men when Rodri was off the pitch, and they immediately switched to having 10 men in the penalty box. The difference is that Arsenal actually decided to take a shot from outside the box and they scored from it.
>>
>>144647985
>you're acting like arsenal had any say in it
So you're saying that it was all in City's hands? And they didn't manage to score a single goal even though they had the ball all for themselves against 10 men at home? Until the very last minute of the game? The hell were City doing then? Were they not interested in playing football? That's so weird of them.
>>

It's a good thing luck didn't go against City on Sunday huh? I mean, imagine how embarrassing it would be if City had lost at home against a team playing like retards with only 10 men. Thank God luck was on their side that day.
>>
>>144648254
I mean the luck was purely on arsenal's side
plus the referee
>>
>>144648265
City got really lucky that the ball was deflected in John Stones' path at the end. If you play that game 20 more times, Arsenal would win all 20.
>>

>>
>>144648281
>>144648286
99% of the time city would win 14-2
the ref pulled walker out of position for the first goal
he ignored the foul on ederson for the second
he let arsenal timewaste all of the second half and only added 7 minutes when it should have been 15 minimum
it was still 11v11 when you consider that the ref was basically in an arsenal kit
>>
>>144648300
But Arsenal played like retards though. And City are 4 time champions. At home. Surely they should be able to win a 11v11, right? Unless you want to tell me that City are shit at football.
>>
Mental how everyone was hoping Arsenal would win the title a couple of seasons ago, but they lined their chickens in a row and started counting them before they could hatch, got far too cocky, started gloating, choked (like always) and instantly became hated overnight.
Due to this, shan't be feeling pity for Arsewog and his whining.
>>
>>144648326
how can city be shit at football when they have won the league for the last 4 seasons running and have won the CL
arsenal haven't won the league in over 20 years and have never won the CL in their entire existence
>>
>>144648354
That's exactly what I'm saying anon.

>>
>>144648380
No, I agree that City have won the league the last 4 seasons running and have won the CL and that Arsenal haven't won the league in over 20 years and have never won the CL. Which makes me think City should really have beaten Arsenal at home who were down to 10 men and playing like retards for 45 minute straight. But all City could manage to do was claw back one point. At the very end of the match. We know City aren't shit so there's no real reason why City should have dropped points there. Especially considering that Arsenal weren't even defending according to you. I don't know about you anon but I think a side of City's calibre should be able to beat a team that aren't even defending and are playing like retards and are one man down at home 100% of the time.
>>
BORING
>>
>>144648431
I already explained it to you
it was pure luck
city came within inches of scoring 17 times but it just wouldn't go in
>>
>>144648448
And I agreed with you. It really is pure luck that City managed to get a draw. How else can you explain not being able to score a goal against a team not even defending when they're down to 10 men and playing like retards? Seems absurd.
>>
>>144648469
You don't stick 10 men in front of thr goal for 50 minutes and win by playing football
you win by pure lucky
99.9% of the time you lose
>>
If you have 88% possession and an extra man on the pitch, you have zero excuse for creating just one real chance. Even Gareth Southgate's England wasn't that useless.
>>
>>144648494
Weird. I just can't wrap my head around how City couldn't score a goal against a team that apparently were playing like retards, not defending, and turns out not even playing football, were one man down all while having the ball for 45 minutes straight. Idk anon. City really shouldn't need luck to beat a team like that. I mean they weren't even defending. Think about that for a second. How absolutely dog shit do you have to be to not score against a team when you have the ball all to yourself for 45 minutes straight against a team that's not even defending? The odds of that are astronomically low. To the point where you have to start asking serious questions about City's commitment to playing football. Surely they just weren't interested.

>>
>>144648799
See, so City just weren't interested then. Cause at that point it has nothing to do with luck at all. City should have had a 100% chance to win by literally any amount of goals they wished. The other explanation is that City are shit and we know they aren't. So the only explanation was that City didn't care enough.
>>
>>144648799
So first XI Man City couldn't beat ten training dummies over 45 minutes?
Interesting.

>>144648857

>>
>>144648876
But that sounds like defending. I thought Arsenal weren't defending. That makes no sense anon.
>>
>>144648895
it's not defending it's just standing in front of the goal
defending is actually playing with the intention of getting the ball back and starting an attack
this is basically what city were doing for the second half
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIV-KtXdBDc
>>
>>144648924
No, I would say defending is preventing a goal or stopping a goal scoring opportunity. Starting an attack is starting an attack.
>>
>>144648957
defending is the pursuit of winning the ball back to start an attack at the goal
standing in front of your own goal for 45 minutes with no intention of ever starting an attack is just standing
>>
>>144648985
Mate, he's done you here >>144648957

>>
>>144648985
Weird but you said they weren't just standing there. You said they were moving to towards the ball. If they couldn't start an attack then surely that's because City are just too good and snuffed it out.
>>
>>144649014
>>144649027
standing around an acting as human practice dummies is not defending
defending is winning the ball with the intention to transition it into an attack
arsenal were just human training dummies for 45 minutes
none of them enjoyed or are proud of what they did
>>
>>144649049
You surely cannot be saying that City couldn't beat human training dummies after trying for 45 minutes? Especially when there was one human dummy less than normal. That'd be really silly.
>>
>>144649084
10 AI dummies programmed to block the ball plus one ref who handed two goals to arsenal
>>
these can't be real people
>>
>>144649101
Damn, so City can't even beat a training program? Nah dude. They're 4 time champions. They won the Champions League. It'd be really stupid if they couldn't even manage to beat a training program. Especially when all the training program was doing was move in front of the ball. And not even attempt to do anything further. That would make it really embarrassing for City to have not won against that. Surely that's not the case here.
>>
>>144649151
like I said it was a matter of absolute luck
city missed about 25 chances by a matter of inches
any other day it would have finshed 24-2 to city
>>
>>144648832
There's a possibility that all of them except Arsenal get beat this weekend. City are going to a tough away ground without Rodri and possibly without KDB back either. And Chelsea and Fulham are decent enough to beat their opponents. Arsenal's next 3 fixtures are relatively kind and I wouldn't expect them to lose until they reach that run of Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea.
>>
>>144649167
Damn, so they DID beat the training program? But they just missed lol? 25 times in a row? Nah, you're just messing with me now. Come on man, there's no way City are that shit. That's not being unlucky, that's just being not bothered. City must not have wanted to win.

>>144649148

>>
>>144649484

Kek, I remember when my national team (Sweden) did this to Spain in Euros 2020. Everyone knew Spain would just tap it around with safe passes until Sweden got tired of chasing. So Sweden just decided to not chase for the whole game and just stood there defending the area instead of chasing sideway passes. It ended 0-0, 75 % possession to Spain and 954 passes for Spain compared to Swedens 176 passes.

The seething was incredible and Sweden won the group.

They were in the football league in the boomer years for a quite long time, always low down but got to the equivalent of league one at one point. A few years later they were voted out of the league back in the days before promotion from the national league was a given.
The main reason behind it was they're based right up on the north west coast near the lake district and there were no decent roads to get there so it was a bastard of a journey for most people in the 70s.
It took them nearly 50 years to get back after that.

Every football team I have ever played in is full of people belittling women and boasting about how they were unfaithful to their girlfriends/wives. I wouldn't be surprised if it is the same in big, professional clubs as well to some extent. I'm not saying they are endorsing rape or violence to women but they might not care either as long as you play great football in the team.
>>
>>144659048
That is not what is happening. You shouldn't lie on the internet. It creates a cancerous environment and pushes fake news which leads to hate and mistrust. Banter is fine but even banter needs some truth behind it.

imagine if Varane only moved to United after SJR just took over and immediately revamped the health and fitness department which included a much better fitness equipment compared to the Glazers era.
He was already kinda broken in Madrid and then he moved to United with an even tougher scheduling and dodgy fitness regime that had seen so many United players being out injured for so long.
Honestly I dislike the talk about 'this player's career is ruined by Man United' but I kinda agree when it came to Varane. well unfortunate circumstances.

>Manchester City FC can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury to his right knee.
>The injury was sustained during the first half of this weekend’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League.
>The midfielder travelled to Spain to seek specialist consultation this week, following initial tests in Manchester.
>Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the injury and expected prognosis.

I have no love for Man City or Rodri but it is never fun when a top player gets a big injury. And he was complaining that he played to many matches as well. Should he have rested a few games maybe?
>>
>>144660076
everyone has been saying the best players who are getting to the business end of all the big tournaments will get career changing injuries because of the absolutely retarded money grabbing from fifa and uefa, and now here it is
they really should give him the ballon d'or as an apology for ruining his career
can't lie though, it happening to a city player is great
>>
>>144660164
Maybe Mikel Simeone and his merry band of shithousing thugs should give him an apology for kicking him into an early retirement
>>
>>144659814

>>
>>144660164
I wouldn't blame FIFA or UEFA though. The club should rest a player if he is not ready to play. You have way more than 11 players in a squad.

The Guardian referred to some study the other day that 0.31 % of all footballers played more than 60 games last season and only 10 % played more than 40 games. Maybe players who get to the business end of all big tournaments don't have to start every game if it risks injuries.

>"You've not seen the last of me" threatens the former Spurs and Newcastle utility midfielder.”
Jermaine Jenas has spoken out on his presenting comeback after being sacked by the BBC.
The ex-Premier League player, 41, was removed from the presenting line-ups of Match Of The Day and The One Show by the BBC last month following complaints about workplace conduct.

He previously apologised to his former female colleagues for sending "inappropriate messages", but insisted they were "between two consenting adults" and that his behaviour was not illegal.
The BBC has not offered details on why Jenas's contract was terminated.
In a video shared to his Instagram Story, Jenas said: "I just thought it was important for me to jump on here actually and just talk to you lot and say thank you for the level of support that you've shown me.
"It's clearly been a difficult period for me but one I will definitely grow from. We're human beings, it is what it is, you'll learn from it. Become a better person. I think those are the things that are important in life."

"None of us are perfect and we've just got to find a way to just keep moving forward, look after our babies and our families in the best way we possibly can and that's something I will be trying to do."

He said the level of support he has received has been "nice" and has helped him reconnect with some of his followers after loosing connection with them.
Jenas, who also appeared on TNT Sports' football coverage and co-presented a talkSPORT drive-time show, revealed he has been working on getting back to work.
"There's some exciting stuff that I've been working on so hopefully you'll all have that to look forward to very soon," he said.
"And also hopefully I'll just be back talking about what I love really which is football."

Very wholesome watching thousands of Twente fans celebrate their draw.
Its not really that europeans hate United, they just have this weird jealousy/interest of United as such a big club, they all grew up as United fans and United haters so it's sort of mixed feelings.
Flattering really.

Playing against United unlocks something in fans and players, makes the sport much more interesting than watching Arsenal sideways passing all match and then losing on penalties.

Actual section of the BBC article on United v 20, written by ringpiece slurper in chief Simon Stone:

>Interim England boss Lee Carsley is due to name his squad for the Nations League games against Greece and Finland next week.

>With that in mind, while it did seem a little odd Rashford should start two cup games either side of substitute duty for the Premier League trip to Crystal Palace, this was a chance for the striker to impress Carsley, who watched from the directors' box.

>It is not clear whether Carsley is a 'flip-flap' skill aficionado, or whether he keeps across viral social media clips.

>If either of those things are true, Carsley will get plenty of pleasure from the way Rashford bamboozled former Norwich forward Ricky van Wolfswinkel as he manipulated the ball to the right and left, before sticking it through the forward's legs and carrying on his way.

>Sadly for Rashford and United, his cross was intercepted, but it was one of those joyous moments that bring cheers from supporters in the stadium and watching elsewhere.

>Rashford had a productive opening period. He embarked on one 60-yard burst from his own half that took him to the edge of the Twente penalty area before he played a pass to Zirkzee with his back to goal, demanding precise close control that proved beyond the Dutchman.

>He also provided a return pass to Zirkzee that took the former Bologna man into a position of promise he failed to profit from.

>Rashford also threatened the Twente box with another forceful run that was ended by Van Rooij’s desperate challenge.

>His exit 11 minutes from time was greeted by appreciative applause from the home fans, which has not always been the case in recent times, and was at odds with the smattering off boos that greeted the final whistle.

Have some more. Here's Jamie Jackson in the Guardian:

>Rashford, the beneficiary of Alejandro Garnacho dropping to the bench, was a force, as illustrated by another gallop along the left and instant pass to Zirkzee; then a cheeky nutmeg of Ricky van Wolfswinkel that drew “oohs” from the Red Devils’ faithful. He was also part of a three-man press involving Zirkzee and Fernandes whenever Unnerstall looked to begin from the back and, also, the first to congratulate Eriksen on the opener: a bullet of a finish that flew into the left corner.

Chris Wheeler in the Daily Mail:

>Rashford looked in the mood again, tormenting Van Rooij down the United left and beating Ricky van Wolfswinkel with an outrageous nutmeg at one stage in the first half. He linked up especially well with Joshua Zirkzee and was inches away from presenting him with a goal, but United's the new £36.5million signing couldn't quite reach his cross to the edge of the six-yard box.

James Ducker in the Telegraph:

>Ten Hag took great offence to Jamie Redknapp’s suggestion that his decision to drop Rashford at Selhurst Park pointed to something “untoward” but, whatever the reasons, the England forward was back here and probably United’s liveliest player in a largely tepid first period. His hard, low cross for Joshua Zirkzee after Twente had been sliced open through the middle was just the kind centre-forwards relish but United’s Netherlands striker could only get a toenail to the ball and the chance went. His intention was good but the finish was not there.

watching Wallsall- Leicester City pen shootout, it's amazing how every Wallsall players just shot low to their left, as if they didn't watch Ward kept saving every single pens from the previous taker.
non-PL clubs being a massive shitter and jobber at pen taking needs to be studied, i mean it's a fucking pen. you tried to keep your head afloat for 90 straight minutes only to put such pathetic penalty kicks?
