>NFL Kicker Chris Boswell went 6/6 on field goals in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the Baltimore Ravens>Boswell scored all of the Steelers 18 points>3 of these field goals were kicked from 50 yards or moreAre kickers ruining the NFL? Half these guys are fucking automatic from 55 yards. It’s insane. Mediocre teams can change their whole season just by signing a good kicker for $5 million a year.
Make field goals skinnier
>>145732310they should move the goal posts closer to each other, it's literally too huge to miss.An average soccer player (me) would have no problem scoring consistently up to 60 yards. Make them smaller and put an upper bar on it too and make them be worth 5 points.
>>145732471>An average soccer player (me) would have no problem scoring consistently up to 60 yards. If this is true, then join the NFL. The record is 67 yards. If you can hit 60 consistently, you can literally make millions in the NFL.I agree that kickers are getting too good, but they still cap around 50ish yards. At 60 yards, it’s not about kicking it straight. It’s about getting enough boot to actually go over the uprights. If you look at 60+ yarders, they usually pass right over the bottom bar of the upright by a few feet. They are dudes who slam 70 yards, barely and inconsistently. It’s too risky in a game situation. 80 yards is probably impossible until robot legs become standard.
college fans be like>college kickersnfl fans be like>are kickers too good?
>>145732721Because there are 32 NFL teams and over 260 D1 college teams (the latter also have age limits, so their pool of potential players is even smaller).
>>145732310There were tons of missed kicks this weekend lol
>>145732721Use soccer players.Problem solved.
>>145732721College kickers are 50/50 from 35 yards. NFL kickers are 97% from 35 yards and 80% from 50
This is literally the result of pitching a bunch of gorilla teams against each other
>guy getting paid to kick a ball into a schoolbus sized hole manages to bang in 6 out of 6 arms length attempts >This is considered game breaking peak athleticism in the US of A
>>145732310Watching redzone I saw loads of missed, in some cases you had multiple back-to-back misses going

Boswell runs da norf
>>145732310Ravens totally lack discipline and lost that game because of that, they coulda ran away with that game only for consistant penalties. Best offense in both divisions, terrible discipline.
>>145732770This was my first thought

>>145732471>An average soccer player (me) would have no problem scoring consistently up to 60 yards. You would kick the ball into the hands of the 6'5 defensive line and you'd flop on the ground holding your face asking for a penalty
>>145732310>Boswell went 6/6Tucker missed 2The Bungles kicker missed 2Nothing needs to be changed about kicking
>>145732471Here's an average soccer playerHe's the most accurate kicker in the league ever at 89.4%
>>145737367it's too easy for mediocre drives to end in 3 points. when it's your main aim it really kneecaps iintruige late in games. they still make 85% and that's with most teams having no hesitation trotting them out for 58yd kicks when they'd rarely do that until now
>>145737384>kicks one year for a team under any pressure>they cut him because he's shit>chokes the two time the Panthers are in close game with anything on the lineproof kicking isn't about the kicking
Its true that lots of elite kickers were washed up soccer twinks lolNFL should be reaching out internationally to find kickers who weren’t quite good enough for pro soccer but can hit 60yd FGs.
>>145737566They did
>>145737603I miss sea bass
Wasn’t there some sort of subtle manufacturing change in the footballs that’s causing FG success rate to plummet?
>>145737566the deviation and pay isn't enough for anyone to do this. it use to be and they did when kickers struggled to hit 75%. a guy hits 75% of his kicks now and he's universally roasted for being shit
>>145737529>proof kicking isn't about the kickingYou guys have the opposite of Survivorship Bias. You guys only remember the missed field goals.>*Kicker misses 55 yard game winning field goal in the wind*>See, the pressure was too much for him. It’s a head game.Yeah, you think that cuz nobody fucking remembers the 50 yard game winning field goal he hit last week. Everybody assumes that when the kicker comes out, it’s an automatic 3 points. Your ears perk up when the stupid kicker misses the 58 yarder. The funniest part is, you’re right. Kickers are hitting 50+ yarders at a 76% clip this season league wide. That’s fucking insane. With the new touch back rules, you only need to fucking move the ball 30 yards to have a 3/4th chance of scoring. It’s fucking broken. As soon as you cross the 45, you’re in fucking “field goal range.”>Hurr Tucker missed two last weekProbability nigger. You can go to a roulette table, throw $20 on black repeatedly, and lose 10 times in a row. It happens.Anecdotes are irrelevant. NFL kickers are hitting at a game breaking clip this season. Soon we’ll get the Paul Skenes of kickers who can hit a 70 bomb at a 50% clip and break the NFL.
>>145732310That's just Bosgod doing Bosgod shitDude's been consistently one of the best kickers in the league for like a decade, he's literally their best offensive player
