All that's really changed is that the playing field for finalists teams has been marginally equalised, with four teams making the grand final from outside the top 4 since it was introduced 10 years ago vs never in the time before that. Plus teams are given a rest so there's no risk of them resting half their squad in the last round.Now teams will still get those benefits and the fans don't have to go a week without footy before finals.
