Why is it in soccer countries with low populations like Croatia and Belgium can outperform countries with high populations like the United States and Russia?
>>
Diminishing returns. Popularity of primarily one sport. More funding and proper infrastructure in place.

Now, why Nigeria, Senegal, etc can outperform the US is an entirely different question

We don't care about that shit "sport", if we did no one else but us would win a WC again.

Russians aren't good at anything that doesn't involve murder. The US doesn't play soccer, average American wouldn't be able to name a single starter on the natty team,

are Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard still starters?

If you go look at the biggest countries in Europe and South America, you'll find it's the same as the best soccer countries

Yes every once or twice in a lifetime a small country might get 2-3 world class players like BEL and CRO but that's a fluke

Why does Canada suck so bad at soccer? At least US and Australia are decent. What's Canada's problem?

because in football sometimes strange stuff happens

Lack of interest 2bh, we have diddly squat for young player development and all of the athletic kids play hockey or Canadian handegg instead. We're getting better but only because of all the nogs Trudeau is importing. Hopefully the upcoming Canadian Premiere League can start something with the domestic kids.

No players from Croatia and Belgium national team are playing in their country, they are mostly playing in top leagues. Russians and Americans are rotting in their country league.
>>

You need country of 11 men plus substitutions to make World Cup winning team, retard
>>
>>86159384
but surely have hundreds of millions of people will give you a better selection that 4 million?
>>
>>86158345
It's 11 vs 11 on the pitch. You got 3 substitutes you can make. You got 6 guys on the bench.

That's it
>>

>Money and effort spent on the national team doesn’t depend on country size.

>Trainer and efficient squad selection doesn’t depend ln country size

Soccer is mostly just luck in any given matchup with team skill being somewhat similar. Luckball sports like baseball and basketball use a series to find out which team is really better over several games.

The World Cup has teams that may be decently more skilled than other teams, but not so much so that luck doesn't play a huge role. A team could genuinely be more skilled in the first round but just get lucky in subsequent rounds and go to the final by chance.

If the world cup lasted several weeks and each team played the best of three matches you'd likely see more resource rich countries BTFO countries with smaller pools of talent. This would never ever happen though.
>>

Croatia is fighting huge corruptin regarding the management of the national team and it's institutions. It has barely any money, the infrastructure sucks and young talents are getting BTFO because of it.
>>
they play better you cunt
simple as that
>>
>>86158345
Croatia probably has more dedicated athletes to soccer than the US.
I'll never understand why people keep asking why America sucks at soccer just because our population is high. Only a marginal sliver of that population gives enough of a fuck about this semen slurping sport to play it professionally. That's it. That's the answer. That was always the answer. We don't need anymore threads about this.

it's easy to understand
there are talented players everywhere in the world. remember that you get better by training/playing with the best. say there are 1000 great players all over the usa and 50 great players all over croatia you'd think usa got an advantage but no because those american players will have much more difficulties to train and play with players who have their level because of the big size of the usa while in a country like croatia due to its small size, those good players will be able to train with each others and their level will get higher then they will be able toplay in good clubs in europe, play with other great players and they'll keep getting better.
