Original requester here. There is a chance that we one day see a alice in madness returns audiobook. The creator of the game I think has mentioned doing other formats as fame including film and books ... hes been trying to buy the IP from EA.

I am hoping for other versions of alice in wonderland the darker the better.

I know there are alternative audios to alice the og.

Seeing as we have Starship Troopers here, I am gonna (again) recommend Forever War by Haldeman, since it is of a similar topic. Magnet taken directly from Audiobookbay. I hope it works. It's a very trippy and awesome Science Fiction, inspired by the author's surreal experiences of participating in the Vietnam War.

Written by joe haldeman
Format: MP3
Unabridged

The Forever War (1974) is a science fiction novel by American author Joe Haldeman, telling the contemplative story of soldiers fighting an interstellar war between humanity and the enigmatic Tauran species. Its exploration of the inhumanity of war and of bureaucracy, and of the psychological effects resulting from the time dilation of space travel (a soldier returns home after centuries away), won the Nebula Award in 1975,[1] and the Hugo and the Locus awards in 1976

Just stumbled on a fantastic audiobook after having binged on the Ripliad by Highsmith.
I wanted more amoral antiheroes, so I went searching for them, and I found an amazing hardboiled story called:

The Killer Inside Me
by Jim Thompson

This is a 1952 novel that makes Raymond Chandler seem child-proof. This is IMHO straight Tarantino/American Psycho level.

Thompson apparently got his best accolades way after his death. His work has been filmed twice (afaik)
The Killer Inside (2010) ft Casey Affleck, and The Grifters (1990) ft John Cusack

Goodreads:
Everyone in the small town of Central City, Texas loves Lou Ford. A deputy sheriff, Lou's known to the small-time criminals, the real-estate entrepreneurs, and all of his coworkers--the low-lifes, the big-timers, and everyone in-between--as the nicest guy around.........
behind the platitudes and glad-handing lurks a monster the likes of which few have seen. An urge that has already claimed multiple lives, and cost Lou his brother Mike, a self-sacrificing construction worker who fell to his death on the job in what was anything but an accident. A murder that Lou is determined to avenge--and if innocent people have to die in the process, well, that's perfectly all right with him

The Bomber Mafia: A Dream, a Temptation, and the Longest Night of the Second World War - Malcolm Gladwell.

In The Bomber Mafia, Malcolm Gladwell weaves together the stories of a Dutch genius and his homemade computer, a band of brothers in central Alabama, a British psychopath, and pyromaniacal chemists at Harvard to examine one of the greatest moral challenges in modern American history.

Most military thinkers in the years leading up to World War II saw the airplane as an afterthought. But a small band of idealistic strategists, the “Bomber Mafia,” asked: What if precision bombing could cripple the enemy and make war far less lethal?

In contrast, the bombing of Tokyo on the deadliest night of the war was the brainchild of General Curtis LeMay, whose brutal pragmatism and scorched-earth tactics in Japan cost thousands of civilian lives, but may have spared even more by averting a planned US invasion. In The Bomber Mafia, Gladwell asks, “Was it worth it?”

Things might have gone differently had LeMay’s predecessor, General Haywood Hansell, remained in charge. Hansell believed in precision bombing, but when he and Curtis LeMay squared off for a leadership handover in the jungles of Guam, LeMay emerged victorious

Junkie: Confessions of an Unredeemed Drug Addict (originally titled Junk, later released as Junky) is a novel by American beat generation writer William S. Burroughs, published initially under the pseudonym William Lee in 1953. His first published work, it is semi-autobiographical and focuses on Burroughs' life as a drug user and dealer. It has come to be considered a seminal text on the lifestyle of heroin addicts in the early 1950s

Does anyone have any good sources for audiobooks? I checked out AudioBookBay but unless I'm retarded it looks like I have to register an account and I don't like any piracy site that forces me to register.

Alternatively, does anyone have Norm Macdonald's book "Based on a True Story" ?

The only problem with audiobookbay is the very bad search engine.
You can probably get a shared acct from bugmenot.
Otherwise it is a 10 second signup. You can probably use a free-for-all email too. You really do not have to leave real info

>I checked out AudioBookBay but unless I'm retarded it looks like I have to register an account and I don't like any piracy site that forces me to register.
Use the "info hash" on each torrent, it's effectively a magnet link (note that some listings bug out and don't list this).
>Does anyone have any good sources for audiobooks?
I don't think theres a good one stop shop for audiobooks (or actual ebooks for that matter). Get a MAM account, it's an easy-modo private tracker that'll have a lot of what you're missing on public sites, even if it dosen't have everything. Supplement that with searches on ABB, TBP, Soulseek, maybe even rutracker. Not everything on the public or semi-private trackers is a leak from the big boys, in fact a lot of public torrents have never or have taken years to get mirrored onto the privates. Quality control is all over the place, so ABB sometimes has better copies of books than MAM does. I think Bibliotik and REDACTED carry audiobooks as well but I don't have accounts on either of those sites.

Hellenica - Xenophon
Narrated by Charlton Griffin
64 KBPS M4B
>The Hellenica is Xenophon’s continuation of Thucydides’ history of the Peloponnesian War, literally resuming from where the previous author’s history was abruptly left unfinished and narrating the events of the final seven years of the conflict and the war’s aftermath. Some historians consider the Hellenica to be a personal work, written by Xenophon in retirement on his Spartan estate, and intended primarily for circulation among his friends, who would have known the main protagonists and events, having most likely participated in them.
>Xenophon’s account starts in 411 BC, the year where Thucydides breaks off, and ends in 362 BC, the year of the Battle of Mantineia. The work is of vital importance as a primary historical source and is celebrated for its clarity of style, as found in most of Xenophon’s extant works. Listeners are advised to familiarize themselves with the events of the Peloponnesian War before beginning this work, especially the work of Thucydides.
>This production uses the English translation of Carleton L. Brownson.

Roman History, Volume 1 - Dio Cassius
Read by Charlton Griffin
64 KBPS M4B
>Dio Cassius was a Roman statesman and historian of Greek origin. He published 80 volumes of history on ancient Rome, beginning with the arrival of Aeneas in Italy. The volumes documented the subsequent founding of Rome (753 BC), the formation of the republic (509 BC), and the creation of the empire (31 BC). The history continues until AD 229.
>Written in ancient Greek over a period of 22 years, Dio’s work covers approximately 1,000 years of history. Many of his 80 books have survived intact or as fragments, providing modern scholars with a unique perspective on Roman history, particularly the period of the empire from Trajan through Alexander Severus. The first 36 books are fragmentary to one extent or another, especially books 30 through 35. Beginning with book 36, Dio enters into a very detailed history that commences with the rivalry of Sulla and Marius. It then follows the career of Julius Caesar. This volume ends with book 49 and the increasing friction between Mark Antony and Octavian. Please note that book three is no longer extant.

Roman History, Volume 2 - Dio Cassius
Read by Charlton Griffin
64 KBPS M4B
> Volume Two of Dio Cassius brings to a close his sweeping historical work, Roman History. This volume begins with book 50 and the struggle between Octavian and Mark Antony. Octavian’s victory is the beginning of the Principate and a new direction in Roman history. Dio takes a prolonged look at the reign of Augustus. He follows this with the history of the following emperors: Tiberius, Gaius (Caligula), Claudius, Nero, Galba, Otho, Vitellius, Vespasian, Titus, Domitian, Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, Lucius Verus, Marcus Aurelius, Commodus, Pertinax, Didius Julianus, Septimius Severus, Caracalla, Geta, Macrinus, Diadumenian, Elagabalus, and Alexander Severus. Much of our information about the emperors who followed Commodus is only available in the work of Dio Cassius. Please note that book 72 is no longer extant.

I bought this legitimacy, and I would regard this as one of my most treasured books.

The narration for it so good, that you would genuinely believe that the reader, Donald M. Frame is Montaigne himself. In terms of the writing itself - witty, succinct and thought-provoking musings without pretentious.

All of it extremely accessible even to those who don't have much of a background in philosophy.

The House of the Dead - Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Read by Nicholas Boulton
64 KBPS MP3
>Completed six years after Dostoyevsky’s own term as a convict, The House of the Dead is a semi-autobiographical account of life in a Siberian prison camp, and the physical and mental effects it has on those who are sentenced to inhabit it.
>Alexandr Petrovitch Goryanchikov, a gentleman of the noble class, has been condemned to 10 years of hard labor for murdering his wife. He is little prepared for the cruel conditions and punishing temperatures, and struggles to integrate with the other prisoners, who claw for their sanity. Fettered, hungry and isolated, Alexandr Petrovitch must find faith and hope if he is to make his way out alive, and resurrect himself from the “dead house”.

The Club - Johnson, Boswell, and the Friends Who Shaped an Age - Leo Damrosch
Read by Simon Vance
64 KBPS M4B
>Prize-winning biographer Leo Damrosch tells the story of “the Club”, a group of extraordinary writers, artists, and thinkers who gathered weekly at a London tavern.
>In 1763, the painter Joshua Reynolds proposed to his friend Samuel Johnson that they invite a few friends to join them every Friday at the Turk’s Head Tavern in London to dine, drink, and talk until midnight. Eventually, the group came to include among its members Edmund Burke, Adam Smith, Edward Gibbon, and James Boswell. It was known simply as “the Club”.
>In this captivating audiobook, Leo Damrosch brings alive a brilliant, competitive, and eccentric cast of characters. With the friendship of the “odd couple” Samuel Johnson and James Boswell at the heart of his narrative, Damrosch conjures up the precarious, exciting, and often brutal world of late 18th-century Britain. This is the story of an extraordinary group of people whose ideas helped to shape their age - and our own.

The Art of Literature - Arthur Schopenhauer
Read by Mark Meadows
64 KBPS MP3
>Arthur Schopenhauer’s The Art of Literature is a lively, illuminating and brutally honest collection of essays on literary style and values, writers and critics, and the nature of genius. The volume is comprised of eight chapters: “On Authorship”, “On Style”, “On the Study of Latin”, “On Men of Learning”, “On Thinking for Oneself”, “On Criticism”, “On Reputation”, and “On Genius”.
>Schopenhauer advises seclusion and independent thought, criticizes Pliny’s reading habits, and explains the pitfalls of certain schools of thought and even virtues like modesty. His thought-provoking arguments, caustic wit, and accessible style make this a must for any aspiring writer.

The Diary of a Napoleonic Foot Soldier - Jakob Walter
Read by Patrick Tull
64 KBPS MP3
> Napoleon’s surrender and retreat from Moscow in 1812 is a pinnacle of military horror. Of the 600,000 men who crossed into Russia in June of 1812, only 25,000 would survive. Jakob Walter, a conscript soldier, was one of those survivors. His observant diary captures the everyday circumstances that soldiers suffered during the campaign.

Pilgrimage to Medina and Mecca (Unabridged Excerpts) - Sir Richard Francis Burton
Read by Patrick Tull
64 KBPS MP3
> Explorer, adventurer and linguistic genius, Sir Richard Francis Burton was the first Englishman to enter Mecca, the holy city of Muslims. Fluent in Arabic and the traditions of Islam, Burton joined the hajj - the pilgrimage to Mecca - incognito. The Royal Geographical Society hoped Burton’s efforts would add detail to the “huge white blot” on their Arabian maps. His resulting Pilgrimage to Medina and Mecca was of great anthropological and literary merit, and brought him much notoriety.

The Life of Samuel Johnson - James Boswell
Read by David Timson
64 KBPS M4B
> Charming, vibrant, witty and edifying, The Life of Samuel Johnson is a work of great obsession and boundless reverence. The literary critic Samuel Johnson was 54 when he first encountered Boswell; the friendship that developed spawned one of the greatest biographies in the history of world literature.
> The book is full of humorous anecdote and rich characterization, and paints a vivid picture of 18th-century London, peopled by prominent personalities of the time such as Sir Joshua Reynolds, John Wilkes, Oliver Goldsmith and David Garrick, while also giving a compelling insight into Johnson’s complex humanity - his depression, fear of death, intellectual brilliance and rough humor.

Anyone have any of his other books? He's my favorite author. Stranger in a Strange Land, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, or Farnham's Freehold in particular. Thanks!

Would anyone be willing to seed the David Wong torrents from Audiobookbay, please?
I just need "What the hell did I just read?" and "This book is full of spiders" to complete the trilogy, but they don't seem to have any seeders active and otherwise.
>>
>>1044303
If you just started downloading, give it a while. I believe Audiobookbay has one very overwhelmed seedbox. Most things arrive in 24 hours anyway.
>>
>>1044338
It has been sitting for a bit, but I probably could have waited longer I suppose. I'm just really antsy about the second book, This Book is full of Spiders, because it has had 13 people trying to download it with 0 Seeders for a while now and it really badly irritates me when I'm missing parts.

qbittorrent has several search plugins, but those are for sites not prominent in the sole category of abooks. You could try. Rutracker may have something.
I usually wait around a week before removing older torrents that seem dead, sometime they start up and go through fully or to a certain percentage.

Thank fuck text-to-speech engines like flite have existed for at least 21y, making on-the-go abooks possible from any source.
