I think the movie is about the JQ, it was cemented for me by the scene where the human is complaining to his alien friend about not getting that promotion, unaware of why it is that his coworkers get promoted and he doesn't, and the alien friend encourages him to just keep working hard. It's too on the nose. John Carpenter works in Hollywood, he must have experience with Jewish nepotism.
