If you are wishing to listen to Youtube podcasts, Pints with Aquinas has some great long discussions with very smart apologetic individuals as well as some that are from other Christian denominations. The discussions are civil and enlightening. Scott Hahn and Peter Kreeft are some good orators for the faith. The sermons by Fr. Mike Schmitz (in the OP) are great. He posts them all the time on Youtube as well.

If you are wanting to instead read instead of listening/watching online, I cannot recommend anything higher than G.K. Chesterton. Heretics, Orthodoxy, or The Everlasting Man are magnificent books. In fact, keep reading other Chesterton books if you can. The EWTN series, The Apostle of Common Sense is fantastic in breaking down Chesterton's writings into topics and making them understandable.

Also, pic related.

It seems to be the most complete without repeats. A lot of the ones from >>1106599 repeat the files, once in listing them in chronological order (1,2,3,4...) and then again grouped together in the "albums" the company has established. I don't care for when companies do this because it feels a bit revisionist, but I can understand that it makes it a bit easier in the case of grouping episodes together for story line purposes. The one I posted groups them in albums, too, but every file has the episode count in the filename, so you have the option of listening chronologically if you want. Other torrents did not always include the number.

Brothers in Christ,
I'm looking to build up my Christian music library. I'm impartial to contemporary and classical/ancient, but right now I'm on a hunt for album compilations of traditional church hymns, choral and chant (so more in the realm of trad Lutheran, Catholic and Orthodox).
Any and all Christian music shared would be highly appreciated of course.

Maybe RuTracker is your best bet: https://rutracker.org/
They have very diverse music selection and the site can be easily navigated with Google Translate in Chrome.

Not a bad idea. I tried punching in some simple keywords and got some results. Thanks!

Torrenting is not theft, i.e, taking someone else's property and having ownership of it, depriving of the original owner. It's like looking at a book and writing the words of it in another book - copyright infringement, sure, but the original book is still owned and used by the original owner without any new restrictions.
I'd say it does violate some more minor teachings i.e, abiding by the laws of the land. (Romans 13:1-7) But that is overruled when the laws of the land contradict God's teachings. (Acts 5:29).
For keeping peace and avoiding small creators from being starved from sales, its better to be generous and buy the original thing, especially if a sale is going directly to the creator. However if you were never going to buy it (such as not having the money, or it is not available to you in your location anyway) such a thing like internet piracy is a non-issue.

The line is still in the movie. They were just forced to not subtitle it so that it could get a theatrical release.
If you watch the movie, you can still hear it just after Pilate washes his hands. When you hear the pharisees shout but do not see a subtitle, that is the line.

Although this line comes from the Gospels, Mel Gibson removed the subtitle of the line to avoid further allegations of the movie having an anti-Semitic message. Look into traditional catholicism (pre-vatican II stuff). Not that anon you replied to, but piracy/torrenting is definitively not theft, I think that much is established especially on a board dedicated to sharing torrents. However, I think the greater question here that no one seems to ever address is whether or not it is a sin of greed.
Now there is a difference between wanting things we don't necessarily need and outright greed. And I don't think it's really a difficult distinction; I believe that wanting something becomes greed when the object of your desire becomes an idol. This really can be said of any of the 7 deadly sins; it's serving something other than God.
But what do I know, I'm just a sinner like the rest of us.

All I know is that torrenting allows consumers to test products first or use what they need but can't afford without taking away opportunity and profit from the creator. And in pretty much all cases pirating tends to increase sales of something rather than take away deserved profits. MOst things that must be compensated if used are usually physical and as such privy to scarcity. With piracy of digital content, If you can afford to give a person what they're due, then you give. If not, no skin off their back. It's also psychologically different compared to refund systems often exploited for digital material. There's less ability to, say, "rip off" someone so there is less lizard brain desire to steal or be greedy. In a way, it transcends scarcity but doesn't remove its principles. If the person withholding the content is being scummy aboutit or is acting immoral but you do need what they have, this bypasses rewarding their scummy behaviour because of limiting circumstances/exploitation. It helps consumers maintain buying power and prospers the free market.

On the topic of torrenting = theft.
Pic related is part of a booklet a priest at a local trad cath church gave me titled "Examination of Conscience". Meant to help you prepare for confessions.
Notice the line;
>Pirating computer software
Opinions on this?
Is torrenting the same thing as piracy?
>>
>>1156674
>Serious cruelty to animals.

That shouldn't be placed under Thou shall not steal. If anything, it should be categorized under Thou shall not kill as it is a disregard to the gift and treasure of life.

As far as torrenting or pirating, I hold that it is no worse than the monastics making copies of tomes of books for preservation. If there is a show that is not being sold or streamed anymore, there is no other way of passing it on to the next generation or person without making copies and passing them around. See Loomis books, which are art instruction books that were out of print but passed around so much online that the rights holders ended up reprinting them because they saw that there was a demand for the books. It gets more straightforward when one attempts to profit from the action, like the man who sells bootleg DVD copies at the flea market.
I've always held that if I got it for free because someone else shared it with me that I would share it for free with anyone else. I've burned a CD for a friend or filled someone's memory card with games, but I never charged them anything for it. Also, as far as software specifically. Show me where I can buy Photoshop standalone instead of paying a monthly fee for the newest version. I worked all summer when I was 16 to buy Photoshop CS1, but now I don't have the option to buy a copy anymore and to be done with it. Now you have to pray that the monthly subscription build doesn't break half the program. But I digress.

>[T]here is a statistically significant reverse relationship between usage of pirated software and poverty in all six poverty models for both developing and Latin American countries samples.
>This link between piracy and poverty remains intact when the model is controlled for other variables such as unemployment and health expenditure. This means that the hypothesis that “increases in usage of pirated software decrease poverty” seems likely.

>can you please redpill me on piracy's morality?

Simple
Do you wish to support the holder of the content? Buy
Do you wish to avoid supporting the holder of the content? Pirate

So If you support an anime show, consider buying the show.
BUT, if places like Crunchyroll and netflix are hosting the show, and any penny you spend on them will go to gay shit like High Guardian Spice or Cuties, than consider piracy.

The question of whether the content itself is worth consuming is a different morality question
For example pirating porn is degenerate not because piracy is bad, but because pornography is.

Can't say I approve of such works, but the Oxford Bible Commentary is the typical "critical biblical scholars intro". Can't find it right now though. Also plenty of Recent Catholic study bibles and commentaries also, as they for some reason just can't help themselves from both asserting infallibility of scripture AND simultaneously questioning the authorship of everything.
Basically everything this guy says he doesn't like in this video (he has links for a lot) or, basically, what came 1969+.

>Is torrenting the same thing as piracy?
Been debating this topic for a while.
I have a media server with 1000+ movies and TV shows that I downloaded/torrented over the years. I'm at the point wondering if having this server puts me in a state of mortal sin and if I need to delete everything off my server that I've worked hard on and spent money on building. On top of this, I have a modified version of windows with all the telemetry stripped out, as well as illegitimate copies of microsoft office. Wondering now if I need to join the botnet so that I'm not in a state of mortal sin??

To me, torrenting is no different than Jesus multiplying the fish and bread. Those were goods that were sold in the marketplace. You could argue fish was readily available in the wild, but bread was not something readily available in the wild. By multiplying the fish and bread to feed the 3000 and the 5000, could you not argue that Jesus "denied the fisher his wages" or "denied the baker his wages" because he made duplicate copies of goods those workers would have sold to him and his disciples? Thusly, wouldn't that make Jesus in violation of the "copyright protection" laws of today?

I could be totally off the mark. I'm going to talk to a priest one of these days to see what he says.
>>
>>1163291
Joining the botnet is not want christ wants. A I know at least that. As long as you aren't taking away from others, piracy isn't evil. for physical content it is different but digital content can be reproduced/copied at a near zero cost. Most of the time piracy only tends to help everyone. If some stuff is an indie thing, pay if you can afford but the troubles corporations create over media management can only be rebelled through piracy, not even opting out helps as much.

That is incredibly stupid. The baker's wages do not exist until he receives them. Potential wages or profit do not exist until realized
>>
>>1169251
I think that was his point anon. Jesus poofing bread into thin air does not deny the baker of any wages as they are merely "potential" wages (ie: the baker COULD have gotten money by selling 5000 loaves of bread)
>>
>>1169269
It is a mute point. The baker is not entitled to potential wages which he has worked for or those which he has the option to work for them later. This circumstance is not the same as a situation in which a worker is contracted to work for x hours for y pay. In such a situation the worker is entitled to be paid after they have completed their work (at the discretion of their boss), but the baker is only entitled to profits at the point of sale. At no point is he entitled to profit before that. If someone creates an invention that produces bread from a fraction of the cost of what the baker can make it for (or just from nothing), then is the existence of this invention a moral sleight against the baker? Of course not. It is simply absurd to suggest that this invention is somehow stealing from the baker

What's up with the Catholics and thinking that Mary was born without sin like Jesus, and that she was a virgin even to death despite having other kids than Jesus? I've looked at Catholic dogma (though in a very basic manner) and I really don't see the reasoning behind it other than a couple of Popes said it. Any reasoning or apologetics to read on that subject would be nice.

>Mary was born without sin
You might hear that Catholics will call Mary "the new ark of the covenant". There's a specific reason for this that points to her being sinless by necessity.
The ark of the covenant had 3 items in it; the tablets containing the 10 commandments, the mana from heaven, and the rod of Aaron the Levite.
These items are key for they all point to Jesus;
1) Jesus is the Word made flesh (the 10 commandments)
2) Jesus would bring about the eucharist that by feeding on his flesh, we will have eternal life (mana from heaven)
3) Jesus is the new high priest (rod of Aaron; Aaron was the first priest)
These 3 items pointing to Jesus would imply that the ark of the covenant would be the vessel that carry's Jesus: Mary. Keep these facts in mind.

I will now refer you to 2 Samuel 6:1-7 and 1 Chronicles 13:9-12.
The story goes that a man by the name of Uzzah, helping tp transport the ark of the covenant by way of oxen. The oxen stumbled and Uzzah braced the ark so that it wouldn't fall over. God's anger burned against Uzzah and Uzzah was thus strucken down dead on the spot. There are various explanations as to why God killed Uzzah for doing something arguably good. But what it boils down to is that Uzzah was a man born of sin. It is said that due to our sinful and fallen nature, no one can come face to face with God lest they be consumed by His holiness. The same idea applies here. The ark was understood to carry the presence of God at the time, and since Uzzah touched God's very presence, he was instantly killed.

So we know that the ark contains the items that prefigure Jesus, who is wholly God and wholly man. We know that because of God's holiness, no one can see or touch Him lest they be consumed (or killed as in Uzzah's case). So how could the one that would give birth to Jesus possibly do this while being a sinful creature herself? It's for this very reason that Mary had to be sinless herself so that she could carry the God-man Jesus.
>>
>>1179595
Meant to quote >>1179050
Also wanted to add that Mary was described as "Full of grace" and that the Lord was with her by the archangel Gabriel.
No other figure in the Bible was described in this matter. It was clear that God had set Mary apart to be the mother of the Father's only begotten son; the son of God. This alone doesn't prove she was sinless, but rather with the other evidence, supports that she must have been sinless.

>she was a virgin even to death despite having other kids than Jesus
You have to read into the original Greek scriptures, but basically it was understood by early Christians that the siblings of Jesus were not born of Mary, but rather that they came from Joseph (speculated to be from a previous marriage).

I did want to note; to conclude that Mary bore other children other than Jesus would seemingly conflict with Revelation 12 where the woman being described is Mary. When Jesus was on the cross and uttered "behold your mother", this was meant to prefigure Mary as our mother. Revelation 12 corroborates this, where the dragon (Satan) makes war with the rest of her (Mary's) offspring. The statement implies more than 1 offspring (so more than just Jesus), however due to the context, Satan is making war with the faithful (making Mary our mother). You could say that Satan made war with Jesus' other siblings that Mary bore (if you insist that Mary bore more than just Jesus), but due to the context and content of Revelation, it makes no sense as to why Satan would make war specifically with Jesus' supposed half siblings.

I think Catholics have also tried using the part where Mary, bewildered by Gabriel's annunciation, admits that she "has not known any man" to mean that not only was she was a virgin but that the way she made the statement was meant to be understood that she had no intention of being known by a man. I don't quite remember how they got that, but I think again it has to do with studying the Greek carefully.

>>1179050
>Any reasoning or apologetics to read on that subject would be nice
Catholic.com (Catholic Answers) is a good resource for Catholic apologetics. I'm certain they touched on the very questions you've posed at length by now (Mary is always the biggest hurdle for non-Catholics to understand and accept).

brother's in christ: sameanon here. i have not forgotten you. the past few days have been a test of my patience and temperance (i drink a lot). it turns out creating the torrent is the easy part. the challenge is finding a host that will host your torrent and provide the magnet link. well i know a few and so do you but those torrent sites are extremely difficult to create accounts for which means the only people creating new torrents right now have had accounts with one of these sites since 2018 or so.

i would love to see this through so if we can get any /g/ christbros that can help i'm ready to go.
