What's your favorite sites and utilities for torrents these days. Pic is mine.
>>

Do you really need uBlock Origin if you’re already using Brave?
>>
>>1127865
I actually use multiple browsers for different things, makes it so i can have multiple accounts for stuff, and not need to log in and out
>>
>>1127863
I only use private trackers now.
Manjaro > LibreWolf + ublock
qBittorrent 4.4.0
>>

How the fuck do you use rutracker if you don't read Russian?
>>
>>1127897
I just type what i want into the search. Most torrents have English titles
>>
>>1127897
Just use a translation extension retarf
>>
>>1127897
I learned Russian partly because of RuTracker.
>>
>>1127897
There are hundreds of guides online for making an account. After that just us e the search option.

I use it exclusively for music.
>>
>>1127903
I don't know if you're serious but I honestly want to learn Russian these days and am wondering if Duolingo is actually good. Failed Spanish despite being hispanic and having a parent that mainly spoke Spanish, maybe I should try something else.

Brave search engine is amazing by the way. DuckDuckGo ruined themselves when they decided to ban an entire country due to political reasons, completely ruining their site beyond the decline it was already facing. Their user share has dropped significantly since that announcement from the creator on Twitter.

Mainly I used a seedbox and just search for a torrent. I can use the web torrent client to search for torrents on there or I just find them publicly elsware with yandex or brave. If I want to share it to /t/ I create a new torrent so it's just /t/ peers unless it's a really slow or dead torrent (just to keep things safe for us even though it's a seedbox, not everyone here is torrenting safely)

I only have myspleen from when I signed up in 2005 or 2006. My passthepopcorn acocunt needs to be renewed and I'm nervous about talking to the mods and hearing "why have you been busy working and fixing your life than torrenting the past few years?" I seriously haven't been on it for a while. But they've reactivated my account before.

What.cd is gone unfortunately.

All I can do is share my e-mail if anyone wants to throw an invite.
rocketlauncher2@gmail.com

Anyone still using duckduckgo or have you also stopped using it? Besides rutorrent what do you do that doesn't require private trackers? Same thing as me? I'm curious about what sites are out there these days that I've not paid much attention to since the classic ones died in the 2000s. Look at the internet these days, everything's censored and banned. I thank god everyday 4chan is still alive
>>
>>1127946
No, Duolingo is too slow. It is only somewhat good for grammar and sentence structure.

If you're serious about learning Russian, you're gonna need to sink at least a thousand hours into it to be fluent.

The resources I found helpful were Memrise for vocabulary, Rossetta Stone (pirate this) for spelling and speaking, and Pushkin Institute for grammar.

Also, whenever I was confused about grammar, I used YouTube tutorials or asked some Russian friends I have.
>>

1. Search for media on my private Searx instance
2. Click on "Files" tab
3. Browse the available choices (protecting myself with Mullvad VPN + uBlock + user.js)
4. Send the best candidate to my remote qBittorrent server, tagging it accordingly
5. Once done, content is automatically copied in the appropriate Jellyfin library
6. Jellyfin downloads any missing metadata and subtitles
7. Stop seeding after 10 complete uploads
I can't even name one tracker, Searx IS my tracker.

yesterday was a pretty sad day for torrenters in the netherlands. foundation Brein (a copyright lobbyist) has won a court case against an isp Delta regarding blocking more torrentsites ontop of tpb. 16 other ISP's now have to block acces to the sites too.

you know rarbg is basically what i use nowadays, which is kinda sad because i started out with private trackers, used them for over 10 years, but just let my accounts die due to inactivity in the end.

but honestly fuck them. they live in the past with their dumbass rules and elitistic attitudes.
putting everything in hundreds of rar files cause it's the "rules", really nigga? and often impossible to achieve ratios unless you spend way too much energy and care into it. (which i did back then). it's just fucking dumb i realized. rarbg is much easier.

I was considering to join in one of the private trackers (IPT) because I have developed some form of addiction for seeding. Now when I've red your reply my hesitation for a private trackers was/is definitively justified and I've decided to stay loyal for RARBG.

Do you know how to create an account there?

I'd like to have an account on RARBG because I want to follow everything what is my Bittorrent client downloading and seeding. I wanted to send an email with my current IP address as there is written proper procedure on how should I do that . . .

(Send us an email at ____________________ including the exact proper description of the issue + screenshot + ip address and we will take care of it)

Does anyone have any experience with their administrator or someone from a moderating team, if so, please let me know if this is going to work, thank you very much.

this, they are banning plugins and making woke blog posts. also just ignoring people's outcries that they didn't like the bubble tabs and just wanted an option to keep tabs actually looking like tabs (nope).
and what the fuck is up with the recent change to force-download files instead of asking if you want to open them or download them? makes no fucking sense to not keep it like it was and the brainlet devs put an "always open" option as the top right-click when you right-click a downloaded file, destroying 10+ years of getting used to "show in folder" being at the top of the right-click menu.
to make a new content type appear in "general > applications" under preferences you first need to check "always open it", just why. some really dumb moves being made in firefox, don't screw with the few users you have left.
>>
>>1130931
IPT is super easy to maintain ratio on. Just download Freeleech files, and you're good to go. You'll rarely not see a Freeleech of something you want to download, the catch is it will be larger file sizes. That's how they maintain retention of those files.

>They have funding from someone

Yes, from their OWN crypto currency. They have/had a big fund meant for advertising. Millions of BAT, so as the price went up, the more they could market

>Which they do selling ads

You can choose to sign up for their ads IF YOU WANT. You don't have to ads on. But yes they make money that way, they don't take any personal information. You're assigned basically a number and it advertises to this number based on what you want it to. You can become a new "number" anytime you want. You can choose what info you give them. If you want more targeted ads you can get them. You also get paid by viewing the ads, and the companies buying the ad space get paid by people visiting their site and buying their shit.

Please don't talk about shit you literally know nothing about

my issue is that 99% of public torrents don't even result in a DMCA, and the stuff that does takes a very long time to download on i2p. Unless things really take a draconian turn in the next decade, I don't really see the point in using bittorrent over i2p.

My setup is similar. qBittorrent, and rarbg is my standard starting place. But I like to download german and spanish content as well and have a couple sites specific for those languages.

When it comes to btdig, so long as you only pick the file you need and disregard the rest once you get the metadata, you should be safe no matter the source website right?

I use real-debrid, just put a magnet link or upload a torrent then let the site do all the work, then download via HTTP and no one can track you.
>>
>>1139463
sure. i mean you're always safe downloading any file from anywhere, just as long as you don't run them.
>>
>>1130686
Run executables through virus total, plus you shouldn't be pirating software when free software alternatives exist :^)

I havent seen any torrents using the new bittorrent protocol. Honestly ipfs seems more robust than bittorrentv2
>>
>>1141443
what's new in v2? the specifications are here
http://bittorrent.org/beps/bep_0052.html
but there's no "here's what's new" in bold letters and i don't know what the original protocol was.

since this is more of a general discussion thread, a few years ago i tried to download a certain sub for a certain anime that was unseeded everywhere, then an anon here showed me some black magic to download it directly, you needed a monthly subscription of some certain service but i could get one for 1 week for free.

i believe it was that old thing before torrents that actually works better still but costs money, can anyone help me out here? i keep encountering dead torrents

viral risk is small
zero tolerance for fuckery with their rules
you can see exactly what you get (filelists aren't fucky)
report function, this is honestly the biggest thing as it weeds out the already low virus count even more

You mean usenet?
>>
>>1146202
yes ty, i need to start studying this stuff, its like magic, you can just download stuff that has 0 seeds
>>
>>1146203
It's not P2P, so that's why. I think it's DDL.
>>
>>1127903
Based. I just learned Russian for fun, but it came in really handy.
>>
>>1146203
that's because 'seeding' is a foreign concept on usenet. Every server is a mirror of the network. That's why you have to pay cash to have access to a provider that has long retention.
>>
>>1128014
Use Brave Search, SearX image search is garbage and it uses results from other search engines so the results can be screwed over if the other engines want them to be.
>>
>>1138963
Any specifics on those Spanish & German sites?
>>
>>1146203
>>1146298
usenet is still up?! how can servers survive copyright claims? i could understand nobody giving a fuck in the 90s but nowadays is a different story.

>>1146253
it was fun huh?
>>
>>1146390
Cancelling binaries is a trickier process, and only works on one provider (they can't cancel anything across the entire network)
Many providers are international.
Remailers provide anonymity.
Its a share-friendly ecosystem.
I've loved usenet for 15+ years now.
>>
>>1146392
feels like if they can snail mail thousands of random people using torrent they can send out 150 snail mails to the remaining usenet providers (if there are even that many left in the world)

>Looking through torrents on 1337x
>50 seeds
>Start downloading
>Only 2 seeds when I'm downloading and it stalls out
Am I doing something retarded? Why are the listed number of seeders so incorrect?
>>
>>1146881
i've found throughout the years that seeds have always been unreliable, it's usually only correct if it says 0 and then it may still find a seed if you leave it open long enough

you could try adding more open trackers

Some torrents will intentionally be spoofed. The common free torrent sites can't do anything about this.
