Backtraxx Music Library (originally River City Sound) is an American royalty-free music library founded by Steve Wenger in the 1990s. It was relaunched under its current name in 2001.

Over 48 hours of premium CD quality royalty-free music in 61 different genres!

Transcoded losslessly to FLAC from two original CDs (totaling 38.4 GiB) to just 18.4 GiB.

Thanks!

Here's a video about them

>>

Great video. It is what got me interested in this library.
>>
>>1144034
I'm an aspiring game developer trying to find royalty-free assets and stumbling across this is as close to believing in god I've ever come. Bless you.
>>
>>1144034
Will be popping this on to my seedbox for a bit. Cheers OP!
>>
>>1144367
Be careful with that, for it to be royalty-free you need to be a bonafide purchaser of the CDs.

There's really no way to prove that you don't own it, and I doubt it would hold up in court, but watch out anyways.
>>
>>1144630
You can be asked by a rights holder to verify ownership. These days that's mostly done digitally but back in the day it could be something in the set documentation.
>>
>>1144795
But consider this:

What if you simply claim you ripped the CDs when you owned the discs, then you re-sold the CDs?

You're legally allowed to make copies of things you own. This sounds difficult to enforce.

Also I'm fairly certain this company is dissolved and won't go after you.
>>
Been looking for these ever since the video. Video editor that needs campy music. Any seeders?
>>
>>1145186
I am seeding it and so are 11 others.
Your client appears to be broken.

>>
>>1149914
There are torrents from 10 years ago with the original CD files if you'd like them, but since FLAC is lossless compression there's really no point.

Thank you for this! I was planning on looking for this after seeing that video on it the other day.

would it be possible for you to rip them using EAC with optimal settings? Here's a good guide (also features a written one in the description if you prefer that): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkLCzfBa2gI
Thank you for this upload already, it's the only complete torrent that's still active

It looks like US-based creators wanting to use KPM library music need to go through here.

One advantage of Backtraxx -- if you can actually find a physical set anywhere anymore -- is that it seems that owning the physical set is all the license you need.

This company has a royalty-free option with very flexible pricing, including free if your project is free and not monetized. Also seems to be encouraging people to just listen for their own enjoyment.

It looks like Digital Juice is alive again and is even having a sale. Paying on the website seems a lot more cost-effective than hunting down the CDs, includes a lot more content, and is still just a one-time payment if I'm reading this correctly. Very tempting.

>>
>>1170822
Look up at the magnet link, albeit one for De Wolfe, not Digital Juice.
>>
There's a bunch of Digital Juice stuff on EBay right now. Just not BackTraxx (dammit).

consider taking a look at kevin macleod's work, he made a LOT of very good royalty free music and the only requirement is that you have to credit him

Sorry it took so long, didn't occur to me that I had to remove anonfiles from the url so the spam filter wouldn't fucking ass fuck me all day
>>
>>1175182
Don't worry about it, I thought anonfiles links were allowed and I swear I used them on here before but they may have been added to spam filter recently or maybe different filters for different boards? Either way I downloaded it and started cracking. It wasn't anything on the rockyou.txt password list so I'll have to bruteforce it which could take quite awhile but I'll eventually get it. I've also read that ZTA might give out fake zips with broken files. I don't know if that's true or not but it might be worth looking in another place for the album just in case.

then you sold the right to use them. it was the same with sample cds.

my advice use them. if you get to a point they're suing you its because you made some money. if you made some money - buy the cds/rights.

Copyright and patent trolls exist. I'm sure someone has at least tried to throttle a studio over these things. Probably less profitable than shaking down an engineering firm
>>
>>1191950
They don't even need to be trolls.

They'll just repackage things, sell them on websites, and unless they lose track of it, absolutely demand payment decade after decade after decade after initial release.

Just like any other music studio, except they might be less hypocritical about claiming to do it for the artists.

While looking through a yard sale I found an old "ProDrive" hard drive labeled "High Desert Broadcasting". The date on the box is 2009 but the songs go back to 2003.

It appears to have contained lots of songs from a radio station. There's ~2600 Spanish songs and ~60 American rock songs.

https://publicdomain4u.com/ has public domain stuff but seems to get the year things enter the public domain wrong. As best I can tell, 1923 and earlier is public domain, not 1927 yet. It's 100 years for music until 2047, when things again stop entering the public domain for awhile. :-(

If your goal is preservation, just pirate things -- it's the only way. If you're looking for stock audio to put in your own work, you should probably watch out for this crap.

https://guides.library.cornell.edu/copyright/publicdomain -- a set of tables explaining it all should be nice and simple, right?
