How can I figure out what cartoons have been remastered, upscaled or cropped? Is there some website with a list or db I can use. I didn't realize Flapjack's wide-screen wasn't a crop until now and I've been using subpar iTunes rips.

From what I've seen it's not good enough. Maybe if the source was 720 and it was to 1080 but SD to HD has noticeable problems like oversmoothing rougher lines which is prevalent in cartoons. It makes eyeballs look like you're using those ugly GBA smoothers. You're better off just getting it in SD with a higher comparative bitrate so it's not as bad. Way more space efficient too. I do that for some cartoons that have crazy large HD torrents.

The Looney Project has been going on for a few years. i believe we're up to around 560GB which includes all of it being uncut and unaltered and the correct ratio without the picture being cropped. Except for one which is hard to find without being overlipped.

Unfortunately the 2022 version here has re-encoded rips, the search for all the HMAX/MeTV WEB-DLs continues on.

They are an... interesting curiosity, but the tech is still far too primitive, and I don't think the results are impressive enough yet.

Even then, I think they should always include both the original and upscaled versions together in the same release/torrent.

And they should NEVER touch the framerate.

Anyone got a collection of the Spike and Mike Animation Festivals?

It sucks there's no Definitive Venture Bros torrent. If you want the best you have to juggle between four different torrents and even then there's still no Season 7 Commentary. Even if you don't care about Commentary or Extras, the HMAX rip is missing the pilot and at least one special (A Very Venture Christmas). And there's also that external commentary for Home Insecurity that could be appended. Lots of work to be done indeed!

This I'd like to know as well. From what I've seen, Dexter's Lab is pretty bad, same with Ed Edd n Eddy. X-Men Evolution also looks upscaled. Billy & Mandy earlier episodes on HMAX look like shit, not sure on others but I know there's at least 1 episode that is proper widescreen. Tbh I'm no expert so I just grab both 480p and 1080p torrents and pick whichever looks better.

You can post anime, just don't clog the threads up with easily found mainstream anime. I think anime like The Mysterious Cities of Gold would certainly belong here, plus that was half french anyway.

Also take The Bear In The Big Blue House for example. It's not exactly a cartoon, but I think puppetry is close enough to count, and we need more people sharing stuff like that, I don't think anybody is gonna complain if you posted like... Sesame Street. I mean... it's actually really hard to find good sources for Sesame Street, I'd be very happy if someone posted that show.

I kinda rambled on a bit there, but the point is... it doesn't really matter that much, just post cool shit.

The EEnE fan AI4K upscale that was downscaled into 1080p is great.
I heard KND isn't that good either sadly but with the way torrents are, DVDs usually have more extras.
Samurai Jack is accidentally hardcoded in 16:9 for the bluray repack but it has higher quality extras but not as much as the DVD repack, it doesn't have the commentary audio tracks either so you have to rorrent select epuaodes from the unaltered blu ray rips and even then you canct get the ones for the two parter ep outside an avi file because the commentary is vontinuous for both parts. If you just care for the standard episodes, the HMAX rip is great. Really wish they'd release the premiere movie they remastered years ago for a cinema event.
Courage the cowardly dog is picky. It's DVD stuff has a bunch of jitter and noise and the HMAX upscales makes it more apparent but the amazon upscales have some framerate issues but are also less jittery and noisy (though some eps are only 480p-720p). The DVD rips have bonuses though and commentary for select episodes. Amazon rip also has all the specials in highest quality (576p instead of 480p for some) which the dvd rip doesn't fsr...

I take manga and anime as the style over location because while it is what they just call cartoons in japan, there's clear aesthetic even in more stylistic divides. Like those mangas by french people are still mangas even if you read left left to right. There were a bunch of shows weebs didn't realise were chinese and only then started claiming weren't anime. Avatar introduced a lot of the anime style to the west outside dubs of anime like pokemon and yugioh which were more explicitly merch shows.

Thanks for the torrent. What other classic stuff have you done? I've got limited bandwidth and can only seed around 2mibps and leech 4.5 on a good day (which is weird because my transfer speeds for non torrents can go way thrice as fast) but i seed all torrents to a minimum ratio of 3.33.
