Some of it has been interesting like the Adam Mclean series on interpreting alchemical symbols in emblems.
Other stuff not so much, self help books that use alchemical sayings but have nothing to do with alchemy itself

You're usually better off by getting first hand sources as much as you can, imo. Like, there are no limit of books that say "draw a circle, summon something, uh, say these words" but don't know why and can tell you where that comes from beyond personal conjecture. They largely copy copies of copies and lose all context in the process. Thankfully there are an increasing number of heroes out there who are doing godly historical work to dig up or backwards engineer these sources, such as Stephen Skinner.

But if you're more concerned with metaphysical, philosophical questions than actually learning how to do rituals, then you're probably best off reading up on the philosophical texts.

The exoteric (philosophy) and esoteric (rituals) are intertwined though, so trying to do a ritual without the philosophy and understanding of the metaphysics behind it is like having a toy with no batteries. But then again, the philosophy without the ritual can become, like, wank really. You can read theory forever and argue endlessly online about the "correct" way to do something without having any first hand experience yourself.


This depends on what area of occultism you want to get into, but you sound like you might enjoy the SHWEP (Secret History of Western Esotericism Podcast). It's a great, very accessible tour of where most of today's "occultism" comes from and will cover the big name philosophers and historical figures who are influential to it.

The naming convention and some of the file formats make me think this was part of some sort of library index or catalog, maybe a viewer of some kind but it's gone and i don't know how the fuck to sort this thing.
