Anybody have the Factorio release version?

Huh, I'd have thought it would have been piss easy to find given how popular it is and how it has no DRM, but I can't find one anywhere.
I could make my own torrent, but I'm not sure if it's worth it given that I'll be the only one seeding right now and maybe another anon will find an actual one (also I've practically never created a torrent before so I might fuck it up). Let me know if you want me to try, though.

isnt it already risky as hell to run a bash file installer without sudo? it could still install crazy amounts of bullshit. im too afraid anons :(
>>
>>967008
Yeah no shit, it really could
BUT
It's not any more risky than running a normal program. Just by running something you have to trust it. Downloading any game, running any installer, if you don't trust it you should never, ever run it on your main machine - maybe in a forensic VM or something.
So no, bash scripts, self-extracting archive installers, etc., are not particularly risky when compared to anything else. It's just standard common sense not to run untrusted stuff.

This is part of the pact you make when you pirate shit. All you can hope is that someone else found something fishy and reported it in the torrent comments, here, or whatever before you download it.
The forensic VM idea is good, but let's face it, your average user here is going to have no idea how to look for a rootkit, VM or not.

You can check each file manually with specialized environment, such as VM or dedicated testing machine, examine code where you can, changes to system during/after installation, leftover files after uninstallation, monitoring active files and network etc....
OR you can YOLO it to the max.

I just discovered this thread and thinking about helping by providing gog installers, I'm quite affluent and have quite a large gog library. Thing is, I'm not sure if they tag their installers with a unique key per account, if they do they can figure me out and possibly penalize me.

So if anyone has anymore info on the topic, or if you can link me a piracy website that can take the installers and remove said signatures before distributing it I'd be grateful. I have shove knight as well.

Hey i don't actually use linux, but i wanted to ask 2 things about it (about gaming)
A - Is a game as stable on Linux as it is on Windows?
B - Does it take less resources to run the game on distros such as Wine or Ubuntu? (= hardware better used giving a performance boost)

>A - Is a game as stable on Linux as it is on Windows?
native linux games on linux are definitely more stable than native windows games on windows
>B - Does it take less resources to run the game on distros such as Wine or Ubuntu?
Distros are very superficial "flavors" of the single gnu/linux system underneath them all, they have the same video drivers, the same graphics libraries and the same display server. I doubt it takes more or less resources to run a particular program on different distros, or at least this difference is negligible. One factor that should be mentioned is your desktop environment, big ones can make your games slower for obvious reasons. Your configuration can be a factor too, because unlike on proprietary OSes, some performance-related things may depend on how you personally configure your install of gnu/linux.
WINE is not a distro, it's a compatibility layer that makes it possible to run windows programs on unix-like systems. Typically on gnu/linux, you either run your games as Windows versions through WINE or run native linux versions directly. The latter is more stable and reliable that the former, but WINE's performance usually depends on each game's specifics. Some run perfectly well, some don't. Native games always run smoothly, faster and more reliably than on windows.
>>
>>994838
did you try Terraria
>>
>>999919
A- It depends (mostly on the games) check https://www.protondb.com/
B- It depends (mostly on the distro)
Some distros (notably the *buntus) pack some things like kernels and drivers once before each release and keep them that way during each cycle, this allows more stability at the cost that new improvements that might happen don't get added until the next release 6 months (or 2 years) down the line, while some others (fedora or the rollings) do keep up to date on releases and update these parts as needed.
Tangentially, are you running a nvidia or amd gpu? this is important.

>>
>>1000497
acutallly, you can ln -s the v4 or v5 lib; i did the same thing for stoneshard which reqs /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib/libcurl-gnutls.so.4 /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0 all of which are old; the libcurl gnutls is sth that you have to actively build with the curl pkg, but you can just symlink it to your latest libcurl, runs like a charm regardless
>>
>>1000502
good to know for the future, thanks.

so ln -s libssl.so.1.1 libssl.so.1.0.0
would work?
>>
>>1000510
Try it, what's the worst the could happen.
Don't know how backwards compatible libraries are by default. Usually you have the latest version, say 9.9.9, symlinked to the latest major, 9.0, and if they're backwards compatible (which was the case for stoneshard, and one other thing that wasn't even a game) you can without worry symlinks that to the very first- so.1.0
Worst thing that happens - it crashes

hello. what do you guys think, is running cracked game under wine safe? im already trying to run wine with firejail i hope it all goes good. I really want to play some older games from when i was in school.
>>
>>1005495
It depends on the type of crack. Older stuff that only needs a nocd patch should work fine.
What gaem tho?
>>
>>1005495
>is running cracked game under wine safe
Yes
>im already trying to run wine with firejail
Firejail is an entirely different issue and potentially raises the risk. Just make another home user if you're autistic enough and run cracked games under them (obviously never use sudo).
>>
>>1005495
Actually the problematic thing is installers. Using portable games is safer, both for win & linux programs.
Some ransomwares are known to work with wine, so better be cautious.
As >>1005957 says it's a good practice to run pirated content with a dedicated user, or at least install with it and then copy to your regular user.

Not same anon, but I check his claims for the lulz:
>no offense
CORRECT you got offended
>not good for thread
CORRECT it is not good for the thread, and even GNU/Linux community
>shitty YouTube
CORRECT, YouTube is shitty in general, and this kid belong to a cringy part of it
>non English
CORRECT even tough not a bad thing by itself
>toxic - very irritating and cringe kid
CORRECT x10
>clickbait infested YouTube-er
CORRECT all thumb look like cartoon/fortnite/S O Y face etc with large ugly font and stupid text
>hidden behind other services
CORRECT discord for the "free" games in 3 videos I've checked, maybe other services in others
>you can find those games on other, better places
CORRECT as YouTube is THE WORST possible place to get games

ok nix package manager works fine
if youre a schizo like me, use nix-chroot and run stuff in a different non-administrator user home directory, so wine is completely isolated from main user directory and you wont be able to run any exe by accidentally double clicking on it.

>>
>>1020700
You need to install (or extract) the original windows game to have the required game assets in order to use these binaries. Then you place the respective bin into the game root directory and launch with either ./AliveExeAO or ./AliveExeAE accordingly.
>>
>>1020210
For those having trouble getting the original C&C working this is the required directory layout for the game assets.
