if necromancy was somehow possible in our world and we were just finding out right now about it, it would take less than a year before most industries ran on cadavers and we'd have families sign off renting contract and selling their deceased.

That's like saying "no way a society would accept a chronomancers elite group taking 1/3 of the population lives away for allowing them to live ! that'd be dumb lol" when it's literally what happens here.

For what it's worth, i do think that societies could be built around the idea of serving after death, giving your body away to protect and work your country, like an honor thing.

I like it, only played once at 4p. Basically replaces Terraforming Mars but also do we really need another Euro that's 300+ cards of mechanically unique things going on?

It's good and you can find it cheap. I think it's worth a play

>Voidfall
a FANTASTIC euro with 4x mechanics/themes. It is, however, a game that actually should've used dice for combat though. I think combat is not that enjoyable as is because its so deterministic you know whats going to happen before it starts.

Also teaching the game is aids. It's not hard, but there's 0 reminder text anywhere in favor of icons for FUCKING EVERYTHING. it does have great icnonography tough, you rarely don't know what an icon says, but it is a huge learning curve.

All this Escher talk made me want to throw together a starting gang even if I haven't been able to get enough interest going. In correct munda fashion, there's some rule of cool over better options.

Queen w/Spring Up
Plasma Pistol, Shock Whip, Lasgun
Mesh Armor
>She's modeled with the whip and pistol, but I have a second with power sword and bolter/needler. They're meant to be the same person, but the other is more expensive by a lot.

Champion w/Spring Up
Needle Rifle, Lasgun, Stiletto Sword
Mesh Armor, Chem Synth
>one of my favorite models that shamefully still needs paint. Pic related

Specialist
Grenade Launcher w/krak, frag, smoke
Lasgun

The Wyld Runner kinda are the points of another champ, who would probably be an acid shotgunner.
>>
>>97098257
Your Wyld runner and her 2 expensive cats will be in the hospital or at the guild house waiting to be sold by the other gangs. In many case it's not even worth it to promote because of the gang fighter (x) balance requirement, and having a prospect promoted is -1 to the free side and +1 to the limited side, which is bad for your gang expansion. Also fast learner.

Once became champ you can't buy more cats, and the cats also need to go to hospital, which mean more champs to escort.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Worse than that, a D&D ration is for 1 person for 1 week.

A 100-lb deer will net you just under 50 lbs if skillfully killed and butchered, call it 50 for simplicity. An 8-oz steak in like 300 calories or so, so call each pound 600, or maybe 550 calories, that's about 27.5 thousand calories from a deer. That would be about two people for a week, assuming only 2000 calories each, which is probably too little for travelling by foot over rough terrain, but it's close enough.

So a decent sized deer would provide two D&D rations. a large one might do three or maaaybe four for a really big buck.
>>
>>97096407
are you only eating fat and muscle?

Random generation enthusiast here; I ask your indulgence for a slight tangent:

What are the best tables or lists you know of for generating psychedelic/exotic locations and world generation? For my own gratification I've been trying to gather up a bunch of tables to amalgamate into a huge set that I can use to slap together anything I want at random, but while I can find plenty of resources for relatively mundane features I've been having trouble finding the weird stuff that might be useful for pocket dimensions, extra-planar adventures, other planets and stuff like that.

I've dug through a lot of material in various troves but it seems like most of them don't get stranger than features like altered gravity or unpredictable spellcasting while I'm looking for stuff like oceans of blood, rains of food (a la Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs) or topologies that include ringworlds and dyson spheres.

I contend that based on mechanics, ease of use and adaptation, ease of modification (though I would stick to Pondsmith's version as much as possible as it's just about perfect), it's rules being shown as accurate to real life firefights in a study done recently and the fact that it's modular and can be dropped right in and used in ANY tabletop game with firearms: that R. Talsorian Games/Mike Pondsmith have created the GREATEST tabletop system for gun fights in the history of TTRPGs.

Thoughts? If you disagree I'd love to hear why or if you agree please post why. Let's get a discussion going on this stellar and very unique combat system and frankly, game overall itself.

.45-70 isn't featured in NIJ standards. Armor deformation is also one reason why armored clothing isn't a thing. Even if a special fabric was to stop bullets, there would be nothing to prevent the clothes from being pushed inside the body as they're loose.

Yes it does. You can't cram 5+ engines into one deck and handtraps are less common (albeit not rare) because you need to balance between your engine and non-engine. The game does not change much for people playing their shitdecks, but it changes substantially for people that just want to play the latest meta.
>>
>>97097771
A common complaint is that a lot of the best decks are the same in both formats but that might be biased by the fact that Genesys is too new for people to seriously invest in it or lab it out and people just take their existing advanced decks into it with minimal changes to test the waters and it's good enough that they don't feel the need to do more.
I think once the actual serious tournaments start up we'll see a lot more innovation in the format, if we still don't at that point then there really is an issue. Another problem is that they seem to want to do frequent point updates which again messes with how much a format can be explored. The latest point update basically killed the interest for Genesys in my area because it changed too much too fast.
It's in a very weird spot due to the existence of advanced, as long as most people are interested in playing both they'll always build for advanced first and for genesys as an afterthought.

scratch that this is much better, you still lose in this format if you don't have enough hand traps
>>
>>97098196
I think the only deck that complaint is really relevant to is Dracotail imo. It's the only powerful deck in the format that didn't get hit nearly enough, just because people associate it with being the worst Justice Hunter deck. It's a lot like saying that it's the weakest contestant in the strongman competition. Faimena got hit because she's a turn 0 enabler and Ketu got hit because it's a ROTA, but they completely missed the fact that Rahu is Branded Fusion for their deck and that almost every monster in their kit gives them access to their S/Ts (including Rahu) when they're used as material. You can't really hit their archetype without going scorched earth on it, but it really needs to be scorched earth'd because it's too strong in Genesys.

QRD
>Pend omission
Low-impact. It will be important in a couple of days after Enneacraft releases for the TCG, since it'll insulate its players from all the retarded bullshit that Enneacraft does.

>Link omission
Medium-impact. A lot of bad decks caught strays with this change, but it's nice that all the random bridges from decks A/B/C/D into engine W/X/Y/Z aren't there.

>Point system
High-impact. It's only a pseudo-banlist which means that some old strategies can see play again, since every card that is """"banned"""" in the format is set to the default max value of 100 points. You can run VFD in Generaider if you want, but you won't be able to run anything else, or Laevatein since he's at exactly 1 point. You can also run 3 copies of Pot of Greed at 90 total points if you're on a shitdeck.

What this actually does for the format, like I mentioned before, is keep the good decks in-check. When they're appropriately hit (unlike Dracotail), you need to balance between running your Engine, running redundancy within that engine, and your non-engine interruption/boss monsters. Not every deck can afford to run those non-engine pieces, not every deck *wants* to run them in the first place. The end result is that you see that generic non-engine a lot less than you would in Advanced.

My biggest gripe is that on the last list, they knocked Nibiru down from 10 points to 5. I would be fine if it were at 7 since that's small enough that it can go in the sidedeck while also imposing a meaningful limit on your deckbuilding, but he dropped a full 5 points and immediately started swarming the format.

I like the videos where they talk about the business side of miniature wargaming, problems with Kickstarter, tariffs, the importance of hard plastic for a game. Chatting about the latest GW release etc. Doesn't interest me that much, but I like the poor production values, lack of script and general amateurishness they have in their videos.

I think their videos are very comfy, probably for the reasons you listed. And basically the same, I don't really care about most product videos BUT that is not counting their hobby stuff with like the shade they showed off last time. I live on the other side of Canada, so I didn't order the shade from them I just grabbed it locally, but they were a massive help.

It’s probably preferable to refresh a faction at a time. Dwarf Ironbreakers and Hammerers look strange next to Warriors and Quarrelers cause they’re from different eras basically. Though if they ever start refreshing Dwarves I hope their proportions are more in line with the Warriors.

Thread #01 Winter Wonderland.

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97089644

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.

No, I’m currently looking for work after a leech prince tried to enslave me instead of paying me
>>
>>97097793
You were EMPLOYED by monsters? How's that work? You didn't hunt us did you?
>>
>>97097793
Welcome friend, I have had my own share of questionable employers don't you worry. Never one of the hunt targets though, sounds weird to work for something I might get asked to kill the next day.
>>97097876
Well, at least werewolves are alive compared to the other ones we can be running into. I haven't actually seen one do any shapechanger things except from a distance so I'm afraid I can't quite see the appeal, and I'm not really sadistic enough to go watch something bleed out on the floor that way.
As for the clients, no clue what they are envisioning though seem rather insistent on living quarry. Maybe they're setting up some game reservation in some lawless land like Africa? I remember that being pretty popular in the trophy hunting circles I used to get dragged to in my childhood. My problem is more so trying to capture them alive without getting murdered or resorting to noticeable acts of terrorism.
>>97097898
I would but the clients really want either one alive or the pelt, and word of mouth around here is that you can't skin them after you kill them, bit of a conundrum. I hope I'm just imagining the market guy out of guilt or something, but it didn't seem to notice me so all should be good.
I can't really speak as for Ashwood, the boss hasn't really told us much except he'll pay us to go hunt and kill. I have my suspicions though given the specificity of some of the requests but then again he could just be an independent like my group? The boss keeps mentioning an initiation if we're competent though. It does make me feel rather uneasy, I'm just hunting these spooks as a job. Not sure I'm ready to get dragged into some weird sex cult to get more funding but maybe it's just the boss's initiation and I can keep being impersonal.
Anyway, good luck on your snake thing then. I suppose all this crazy shit would inspire someone to learn magic but for now all I I've needed are a few guns and a pipe bomb I bought off the market.
>>
>>97097905
Dreadful business. Sounds like you got away for the most part. Hopefully some work ends up in your lap soon.
>>97098239
Curiouser and curiouser. If you do not mind me asking how did your current boss contact you? Or did they give you a business card?
>>97097898
Tch, fair enough. I let myself get pulled into the story. I should've cut it short, I apologize. Hopefully something turns up for your wyrm.
>>
>>97098296
The boss found me at a bar, said he'd seen my skills at hunting and asked me if I would like to do some hunts "of a more grandiose kind" in exchange for helping my group's financial situation. I thought he meant we'd be hunting hippos, elephants, poachers. Not men who can literally turn into wolves or other weird things. The first red flag should have been when he said we could start the same day in Northern England. Ended up chasing down some fellow who looked like two to three dudes put together when we took off his trench coat. I might be in too deep

Didn't see a thread for it, I'm starting a Weird Wizard campaign in a few days so figured it could use one instead of "Is coffee good for you?" posting that makes up 60% of the board now.

Of the non-human and human++ options available in Weird Ancestries, which ones are most interesting or mechanically worth taking the alternative Novice path for? Personally I like Daeva as an idea, being a glorified Stand user with a dedicated summon living in your head is nice and means you don't have to wait a long time for a specific expert or master class if you wanna be a "pet class"

D8 and lower got their health reduced
>Somehow, the game managed to make Ruffian even MORE useless, since it's ability to double BBD against targets inflicted with fear (basically nothing D16+ due to immunities) ends up being meaningless when shit dies in a single hit regardless
Just scrap the Master Path at this point, jfc.

Less than half of stuff 16+ is gonna be immune to frightened under the new rules, but even then if you're only relying on frightened for the ruffian you're doing something wrong. Ruffian (potentially) gets a nice spike from frightened at 10 but really does the most good when there are lots of afflictions about.

You have been installed as a Planetary Governor of your very own world in the 40k universe. What laws do you pass?

This sounds like a good enough plan, but this is assuming a lot of things work out as they are supposed to.
>Arbites and inquisition have the strong possibility of pursuing their own agendas based on the individuals involved. Or directly turning against you.
>Rogue Traders have the unfortunate quality of not wanting to be someone else's servant long-term and pursuing their own wealth. Nothing suggests they wouldn't just pay off the enforcers onto their bankroll or use them against you to take your assets.
>Or that the Rogue Traders wouldn't just keep the assets for themselves.
>A good chunk of the Imperium are military dictatorships as is, if you mean a militaristic republic than that's different.
>Most likely already what occurs.
>Assumes that agitating scum and mutants leads to a stable outcome and not outright rebellion.

that's 100% asking for a Ordos Xenos Inquisitor to send some dudes for a post mortem inspection/investigation into if there's anything left of the hive fleet and where they're going.
when they arrive and see no one is dead, they're going to start freaking out and calling in back up

Since you haven't specified the worldtype, I'll be claiming a Oceanic Agriworld, and Dedicate my life to kelp farming and fishier management, aswell aswell as building underwater Hives that carve into the mantle, as 90% of 40k factions have literally 0 investment into underwater/naval techwell Orks will just invent subs on the spot there's no stopping that desu but the planet will look boring and blue from space so they'll probably skip out on that we're pretty much protected from most shit, and I get to live out my Atlas Ecology schizophrenic dreams...
on the actual people living there??
emperor worship and being super tight within ecclisarchy guidelines are definitely something I'd want to really focus on in terms of running things cause chaos is very scary, and Trying to attract any and all orders of Soritas to take residence on the planet would be a #1 on my to do list especially ordos Famulous if you know what I'm saying
production would be focused on just about meeting tithes/what the imperium asks of us and basic upkeep, Stability>personal profit every time
If I manage to live long enough to reach really old age fuck with the plaent's governing system By introducing a minostorum backed "House of Commons" to "assist" with "internal policy" to fuck with all the other nobility before I croke

NTA but the
>until a proper inquisitorial agent is available to make an adjudication.
would immediately put him on robert's good boy list because he's quick to change rules based on authority
