Unwieldy range weapon never stated to need 2 handed to fire, that was for melee. The problem isn't that it's 1 handed, the problem is that it's not shoulder mounted for stabilization like 30k Marine heavy weapon, Van Saar, or even Ork.

The only infantry that should worry you are terminators, as VEQ can be killed even by nerfed Disintegrators & NuPlasma

I'm pretty sure they're hoping to squeeze a second, and maybe third, set out of the Avatar universe before the well runs dry. Excluding Korra likely wasn't done out of respect for ATLA, but for the money.

Star Trek I see as far less likely to see a return to, the stocks of this franchise are not high right now, and it's a poor fit for MtG (not that that's really a factor). They're likely to blow their load and worry about how to build a second set in the unlikely event such a thing arises.
