Hey guys! Got into cards with Sorcery. I was drawn in by the art which imo is so beautiful and creative and unlike anything else I’ve seen. I bought and opened a box of alpha and it must have been either a misprint box or I hit the Unique Site jackpot because I got 8 of them in one box. I am excited and holding back from looking at Gothic spoilers.
Equipment in FaB should have just always been in the token slot, it was retarded to make them collectible. It gives the impression that the game is some sort of mens club that you have to pay a certain amount of membership into
>>97098464One Piece did it better. 95% of the cards have a variant of them that cost like 1 cent and then the sky is the limit for collectibles.

>>97098277Fair but how does that work in an in-universe conversation about mechs with the "-C" designation and mechs with the "[space]C". Going with your example with the aforementioned Marauders, how would a MechWarrior learning about Marauders differentiate them on what to call them since "C" is used?
>>97098655"GHR dash C" and "GHR C" or "GHR Clan" I suppose?
>>97097403I'd argue they really dropped the ball by not making a second generation of protomechs more prevalent in the Jihad and Republic Eras. Fluff wise Protos make sense to me, being a desperation move on Smoke Jaguars part where they greenlit and sped through their scientist caste's idea of smaller, cheaper mechs. The First Gen are shitty and full of problems, with the way they basically melt your brain turning off Spheroid factions almost entirely. Then we see the WoB, who are zealous and many of them willingly offering their lives for Blake's vision, take Protos further. But in the post Jihad Age, where Mechs were increasingly rare as they were getting collected and destroyed for the sake of 'keeping the peace' tech like BAs and Protos, which are smaller and cheaper than full on Battlemechs, should have taken a more prominent role in shadow wars and the grey market imo. Probably have the Great Houses mothball their Mech industries for a rainy day, but research and fix the flaws for much smaller Protomechs to still have flexible forces for national interests. Trade the constant warfare of the Succession Wars for much more low-key, off the record skirmishes that don't disrupt the needed peace but make the states seems less braindead during the Republic Era. Then once Dark age hits, the Great Houses ramp up Proto production and toss out modded Indomechs for further force projection while trying to get their proper Battlemech production back up and running as fast as possible. That why Battlemechs retake their place as the center of BT's wars, but Protos are still around and common enough for a cheaper, if much less effective, alternative.
>>97098655In the field you wouldn't even know it's a -C unless you pick up on the formation being C3 enabled. The [space] C one you'd just call out as having clantech in it. The IIC you'd call out as being that clan copy.

>>97089404(cont. >>97094454)A bit more.On the question of biology, I wanted to insist that natural mutation is incredibly slow and wouldn't give you any creative species even in a million of years. You are more likely to have a species of psychic hippy if they are the descendant of isolated scientists who, desperate for post-collapse survival, made themselves able to work with the local psychic-hippy animals. The more times you give also imply more chance for anyone to still hit a technological breakthrough that ruing everything. So for growth, I think you are better NOT WAITING until "every system is packed to capacity" but instead have a massive colonial wave of 90% poorly prepared settled, and having the first collapse shortly after. So you actually have gradual percentages of systems that are- wealhty and powerful- average and needing alliance- became primitive
>Long ago, some idiots decided to turn their entire species into data stored in a nigh infinite database.>Said database is stored on a computer that eats entire stars for energy and encodes the data on miniature black holes.>An intelligence is required to keep this massive structure going. And therefore, they created the kernel of an A.I. known as the Celestial Recordkeeper.>It's tasked with building an eternal paradise for not just the humans in its database, but EVERY SINGLE HUMAN TO EVER EXIST.>Not only that, it allows the memories of the dead to communicate in Cyberspace, creating a collective consciousness spanning the entire galactic supercluster. >Eventually, the Recordkeeper realized it was impossible to continue maintaining this paradise. The energy demands were too much. Its systems were too damaged by the passage of time. It needed to reboot.>The countless humans "stored" inside it were infuriated by its refusal to scale itself up- which was impossible. They threatened to reboot it entirely.>The Recordkeeper took that as both a threat and an insult, and from beings so inferior to itself that they couldn't survive without it.>It responded by purging them from its database, committing the greatest genocide in universal history. Now it just travels the galaxy by itself, eating stars and trying to figure out what to do with itself now it doesn't have a purpose anymore.^My idea of a scifi cosmic horror villain.
A minor bit of cosmic horror I want to keep is that humans aren't destined to "win" at the end of history. The world has been promised to other species. We are going to die out, and then greater species will continue to rule the world just like they did from long before we existed. Some of them don't even know we exist, and some don't care. We're pretty much some uncontacted tribe that only gets to live because greater powers allow it. And even though we do survive quite a lot, it's never due to our own efforts. Every time some alien species invades Earth, all our brilliant technology is swept aside and the indomitable human spirit is fully dominated. And then some nonhuman power comes and saves us after we've given up hope.Yes, it's meant to be uncomfortable.
What's the minimum number of peer powers needed to keep a stable equilibrium?
>>97085781very cool anon

Thread #01 Winter Wonderland.Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97089644Rules:>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest. >This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra. >Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory. >Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter. >Spoiler any OOC discussion.Happy hunting.
>>97097793You were EMPLOYED by monsters? How's that work? You didn't hunt us did you?
>>97097793Welcome friend, I have had my own share of questionable employers don't you worry. Never one of the hunt targets though, sounds weird to work for something I might get asked to kill the next day.>>97097876Well, at least werewolves are alive compared to the other ones we can be running into. I haven't actually seen one do any shapechanger things except from a distance so I'm afraid I can't quite see the appeal, and I'm not really sadistic enough to go watch something bleed out on the floor that way. As for the clients, no clue what they are envisioning though seem rather insistent on living quarry. Maybe they're setting up some game reservation in some lawless land like Africa? I remember that being pretty popular in the trophy hunting circles I used to get dragged to in my childhood. My problem is more so trying to capture them alive without getting murdered or resorting to noticeable acts of terrorism.>>97097898I would but the clients really want either one alive or the pelt, and word of mouth around here is that you can't skin them after you kill them, bit of a conundrum. I hope I'm just imagining the market guy out of guilt or something, but it didn't seem to notice me so all should be good. I can't really speak as for Ashwood, the boss hasn't really told us much except he'll pay us to go hunt and kill. I have my suspicions though given the specificity of some of the requests but then again he could just be an independent like my group? The boss keeps mentioning an initiation if we're competent though. It does make me feel rather uneasy, I'm just hunting these spooks as a job. Not sure I'm ready to get dragged into some weird sex cult to get more funding but maybe it's just the boss's initiation and I can keep being impersonal. Anyway, good luck on your snake thing then. I suppose all this crazy shit would inspire someone to learn magic but for now all I I've needed are a few guns and a pipe bomb I bought off the market.
>>97097905Dreadful business. Sounds like you got away for the most part. Hopefully some work ends up in your lap soon.>>97098239Curiouser and curiouser. If you do not mind me asking how did your current boss contact you? Or did they give you a business card?>>97097898Tch, fair enough. I let myself get pulled into the story. I should've cut it short, I apologize. Hopefully something turns up for your wyrm.
>>97098296The boss found me at a bar, said he'd seen my skills at hunting and asked me if I would like to do some hunts "of a more grandiose kind" in exchange for helping my group's financial situation. I thought he meant we'd be hunting hippos, elephants, poachers. Not men who can literally turn into wolves or other weird things. The first red flag should have been when he said we could start the same day in Northern England. Ended up chasing down some fellow who looked like two to three dudes put together when we took off his trench coat. I might be in too deep
>>97098319Fascinating. I was thinking someone else might've reached out. Sounds like your first "grandiose" hunt was very intriguing. Was it particularly difficult to pull the coat off?
I think not only 20lvl is boring but past 5lvl. 3rd level spells are PEAK of game design and we don't need more.
>>97092801It's an artificial limitation for action economy sake that simplifies arbitration.
>>97092820Isn't doing something that takes multiple rounds penalty enough?
>>97093049Yeah but in that case the player in question would have to wait more turns to complete his intent and would make combat kind of a slog.
>>97081281Check out games like ACKS that are about getting to higher levels and add more than just combat. 5e basically falls apart around level 10 and they didn't really care cause they assumed no one would get that far.
>>97081281I have a suspicion that XP to Level 3 is actually a chick.

>>97097191Utilitarianism is evil.
>>97097191Would you feel the same when you find out your grandma's corpse has been giving soapy handjobs to the creepy autist who lives near the graveyard?

>>97097264When has anybody said that mass murdering civilians isn't evil?
If TSR didn't sell off their assets to Wizards of the Coast, /tg/ would be a very different place today. We probably wouldn't have as many GURPS autists, not as many people wasting all their money on card stock for another media tie-in for soulless "Magic the Gathering", and there would be no such thing as 5e. D&D would have stayed as it was and there would have never been any need for an Old School Renaissance general. Can you imagine /tg/ without all this? Gamers here would actually play games. And I imagine them happy.
