The pop comes when the illusion is shattered that all this cardboard isn't actually worth what collectors are saying it is. However, as time goes on, things get rarer and rarer, and by sheer fact of not that many sealed boxes of Ex Yi Zed existing on this planet, it makes some of these card games valuable as a piece of card history. Not everything gets to be equally cherished and respected though, so you'll have your flat 'who cares?' belly flop titles and then you goated innovators that left their indelible mark on the hobby.

So we're on the same wavelength there. I wasn't planning for a specific axe to awaken his memories fully. I meant for the gaps to just be from the reconciliation of the regular game version of him and the cut content when he now exists in an actual world as an actual person who's also no longer in his home village. The hero in his memories is vague because he never actually existed, and if he did, he would have been any player who did his questline. Anyone and everyone could have been the hero who inspired him. So it's really just an ideal he could never reach but always pushes him to improve. But if you want to do something specific involving Liam that differs from this, I'm on board. That was just the initial concept. A forgettable NPC who never got his chance to be a hero now gets to live the life he should have, in a similar fashion to how an isekaied player gets their second chance at life.
